    One thing they seem to have changed in the latest update is to improve the visibility of the white boxes for the 6 digit pin. Was very difficult to see whether you were entering characters to the left or right of the black boxes at least under my set-up.

    Mind you accessibility seems to have been very low in their priorities given it is almost impossible to easily use the new system without a mobile phone.

    It is one of those completely basic and obvious things that should have been right from the start, and is further evidence that the new system wasn't tested properly.

    Note also that when you enter your unique ID it is now on a http secure page. A pretty simple and basic thing again that should have been there from the start.

    I think;

    1. If your computer is configured so as to prevent the Tesco Bank Flash cookie being saved, which identifies it as a 'regular computer'.

    2. If you delete the Flash cookie from a 'regular computer'.

    3. If you login from a different computer, i.e. not already identified as 'regular'.

    The way in which Flash cookies are managed varies with the version of Flash Player. There are so many permutations of Operating System / Browser / Flash I cannot predict what facilities you may have on your own PC but via the Adobe web site you can;

    Identify your Flash version;
    (replace the DOT's with "." in the links below and paste the url's into your web browser. I'm not allowed to post a real link).

    wwwDOTadobeDOTcom/software/flash/about/

    Look for the box 'version information' to the right of the Abobe text blurb. If there is no version information Flash is not successfully running on your machine!

    Run the Flash Player Settings Manager;

    wwwDOTmacromediaDOTcom/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager.html

    See "How do I get to the Settings Manager?" In that section are links to the different parameters which may be configured. If 'Storage Settings' are set to nil the cookie will not be saved.

    Tesco have changed from an authentication mechanism independent of your computer, i.e. card reader / pin, to one dependent on the availability of suitably configured software on your computer.
    Ive had a look (will know then if Tesco ask when I ring shortly) and I have version 10, and Im set up to allow 3rd party flash cookies.

    So, many thanks for that . Off to tackle Tesco now!

    Hallelujah !
    Im in at last ! Only half an hour from picking up the phone to seeing my balance. Yay! Now I can start finding the smaller glitches like everyone else ! :D
    Oh, yes I like it, top of the statement is my FP compensation money . Might stay if all is smooth from now on.
    :beer: Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread sharing their knowledge and making the whole shambles a bit a bit more tolerable

    Congrats !

    Considering there are still glitches (eg not being able to amend future payments) it is surprising to see the Tesco website states that the system is now 'Fully Operational'.

    I got a phone call from Tesco Banking earlier to discuss compensation, where they tried to argue that the term 'fully operational' allows for the remaining presence of glitches.

    In denial (some would say it is a lie...) as well as having a poor understanding of the English language !

    Agreed. Note however that the old http page still seems to work, so if you bookmarked it (as I did), it's worth updating your bookmark to the new https version of the page.

    Oh dear. The other day I set up a DD on a linked account. Today I've received a letter from Tesco saying:

    Dear Mr Stompa

    Sort Code--Account Number

    Following your recent request, we have set up a Direct Debit for the above account.

    Thank you for banking with Tesco Bank.

    I can't believe they can get so many things wrong!

    I closed my account, and got the same letter..... exactly the same wording with no sort code, no account number, and I'd closed the account not set up a direct debit anyway.... So glad I'm out!

    New message on the Tesco website
    Notification of Online Banking maintenance - Tuesday 5 July

    Tesco Bank Online Banking will be temporarily unavailable on Tuesday 5 July from 23:00 so we can perform planned maintenance. The Online Banking service will return to normal operation at 04:00 on Wednesday 6 July. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
    Seems to be a lot of short notice maintenance for a website that is supposedly fully operational

    Tesco Bank has confirmed its online services are now fully operational after some customers were unable to log into their savings accounts."
    http://www.computerweekly.com/Articles/2011/07/05/247181/Tesco-Bank-customers-back-online-after-migration-glitch.htm

    It has been saying that since week 1.

    I understand people with the old RBS set up were being granted access through login 1 and this was the reason for the maintenance, that and the emboldening of the boxes into which PIN digits are entered.

    Or so I hear.
