Snowman - when you say 'hide' your computer, what do you mean?

I've had issues when running Flash Block extension on Chrome, however I was able to easily fix it by adding tescobank.com to the whitelist.

While I hate flash with a vengeance, I understand the need for it so that security works on my banking site so I guess it's a necessary evil.

Was running in 'Private Browsing' mode in firefox that's all. That blocks flash cookies being accessed or saved. And so Tesco don't recognise the computer.

The BBC moneybox preview for tomorrow (12 noon radio 4)
We return to the Tesco Bank fiasco after a major IT failure meant its ‘instant access’ savings account was anything but. Last week thousands of customers were locked out after two breakdowns which took the computers offline for 18 hours. Many tried to call Tesco but when we tested the helpline on Saturday we were kept waiting for 54 minutes. Two weeks on and some customers – perhaps as many as 800 – are still locked out of their accounts. We tell the inside story.
I like the sound of the inside story being told.

I'm starting to get really annoyed with Tesco now. I just tried to set up another linked account, and got the message:

Sorry, we couldn't confirm that you're the owner of the account you're trying to add. Please send an original Bank Statement from that account to the address shown so that we can add your account for you -
Tesco Bank, Broadway 1, 199 Renfield Street, Glasgow, G2 3AX

Bit late judging by your next post, but if its any help I had a similar situation to you, the system was asking me to post in Bank statements to add a linked account in my own name so I called them up and they managed to put my account on the 'Linked account section' for me their end without me having to send in statements.

It is kind of difficult to provide statements for online accounts/new accounts.

it's an online account, which I have very recently opened, for which I don't have any paper documentation.

Since I only want to transfer from Tesco to this external account, am I likely to have better luck by adding it as a 'Linked third party' (despite it not really being third party) rather than as a 'Linked account'?

If it's of any help, the same thing happened to me yesterday BUT on checking my account today online the account link has been setup properly !

    :rotfl:

So it would appear this is another glitch, but as the Tesco Operations Manager phones me regularly (he is using me to get 'user updates' !) he is now aware of it and fingers crossed a fix is due, although if you get the same 'experience' as me it is actually a false error message !

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it. Perhaps I'll end up with it duplicated as both a linked and third-party account.

Originally after the upgrade all my linked accounts went over to the 'Third party linked accounts' I tried to move them to 'Third party account' but it asked me for statements to be sent in.
Phoned up and got them added to 'Linked accounts' then I deleted the duplicates that were left in the 'Third party accounts'.
Then for some strange reason a couple of days went past and all my original linked accounts from the old system got applied again to the 'Linked accounts' section (prob them fixing a glitch) so I had duplicates of all my linked accounts but was easy enough to delete the duplicate listings.

Tesco states on the log in page that:

"Our online service is now fully operational"

Meanwhile back in the real world, I logged in to find that my previously set up and migrated Future Payments due to be sent on 1st July had not been sent today the 1st July. They also remained non cancelable or amendable.

I phoned Tesco and got through immediately:beer:. A very helpful operater said they would not be sent if they hadn't already been so I asked her to cancel them, she at first said she was not able to but later did. She could only make a payment from my Tesco account to my linked account not the actual recipients and I explained my current account wasn't linked to those accounts but I then sent them myself online as faster payments. I make a point of being polite to the operators, it's not them that deserves our bile but I do ask them to pass on my experiences to those that should know (better).

It would be more truthful if Tesco stated:

"Our online system is still ***k**":(

Some new questions on the Tesco website
    Question:

What do you mean by 'regular computer'?

    Answer:

A regular computer is the computer you will use most often for Online Banking. This means we will recognise it each time you login. For example your home PC, and your relative’s laptop could both be set up as your regular computer. You can add as many regular computers as you like.
If you login to Online Banking and you have not told us the computer you are using is one of your regular computers, we will need to identify you in a different way. We will send you a One Time Access Code by text message, which you will need to use when logging in. By doing this we can be confident that it’s really you.

    Question:

Why are you not recognising my computer as my regular computer?

    Answer:

If your browser history has been cleared since the last time you logged into Online Banking we can no longer recognise your computer as a regular computer. This means we will send you a One Time Access Code which you will need to use when logging in to Online Banking.
If you use anti-spyware software on your computer we may not be able to recognise your computer as your regular computer. In this instance we will have to send you a One Time Access Code every time you login to Online Banking.

    Question:

What if I don't want you to recognise my computer as a regular computer?

    Answer:

If you do not want your computer to be recognised as a regular computer you can still use Online Banking but we will need to identify you in a different way.
Every time you want to use Online Banking we will send you a One Time Access Code by text message. You will need to use this when logging in. By doing this we can be confident that it’s really you.

Question: I don't have a mobile phone can I still use your website?

Answer: To be honest no. At some point you will delete the cookie that recognises your computer and you will be locked out. You can ring us to try and reset things (good luck in getting through :rotfl:) but it will happen again at a later date and you will soon give up and save elsewhere.

TB's nomenclature is as flakey as its quality control.

A "linked account" is an account from which you can transfer into TB by direct debit. If you don 't need that, avoid the hassle.

As I said in an earlier post, I got this message on June 22 when I tried to set up a linked account that TB had failed to migrate from the old system.

But the next day there it was in the "linked accounts" list. So your message might be bogus.

If I try to set up a payment from the "new" linked account, I'm told that the earliest possible date for the transaction is July 13.

Re a different but related problem (since I'm posting anyway), I still cannot amend or cancel pending payments out migrated from the old system.

New future payments out can be cancelled but not amended.

A payment scheduled for today (July 1) didn't happen. Whether it would have happened if I hadn't previously cleaned out the account, I have no idea.
