What a weekend! I have spent most of it getting in a flap trying to fix the leaky loo and now after blood, sweat and plenty of tears (which I think was due to recently becoming single and then continually thinking if there was a man in the house he could have helped and then realising that that probably isn't the case!) I have given up and have resulted in turning off the water and will phone the Council tomorrow to get someone round to try and fix it asap.

I really wanted to try and fix it myself as the Council are a complete mare here and basically they will never turn up on the day they are supposed too and usually not the next day or the nest either, wasting several days off of work :( I will call them first thing and stress the importance of someone coming down to fix it as the dam leak has made a hole in the Kitchen ceiling as must have been leaking for a very long time and the fact the previous tenants boxed in the loo means that I couldn't see the leak :( Even more annoyed at the fact I wasted money trying to fix it myself, but will be taking back the bits I can to get a refund and will have to write the rest of it off and put it down to a bad mistake.

I can't believe how stressed I was getting and the constant crying too...just couldn't stop myself. I hate getting beaten by anything, let alone a dam leak! Looked at the local College and they do an Intro to Plumbing course so reckon I might save up and try and get some birthday money when my birthday arrives (on the 5th of November) to pay for the course as they run it several times a year. Only way I am gonna learn I suppose and could do with knowing things like this, especially with no blokey to ask!

Went to get some foodies today and took back that top to Asda and also tried really hard to keep the costs down. I went to get a few cheapo items of clothing and then put them back so am proud of myself there!

Well plan to get the dinner on and stick on a DVD to try and wind down...Grrrrrrrrr!

Aw hun, hope you're feeling better now - i expect you feel knackered. As frustrating as it is, having a good cry was probably a good thing. You obviously had a lot of pent up emotion. Recovering from a relationship break up is a process that is v much like grieving, so don't be too hard on yourself.

Give yourself credit for at least being willing to attempt to fix it (cause i know i would have just run). Fingers crossed the council get their backsides into gear sooner rather than later.

If it's any consolation I was gardening yesterday - the stuff i had to do was blimming hard work (i have blisters to prove it). My 'husband' was there playing with the kids and made no attempt to help. I felt like screaming. My point is, there's a man in my house but i might as well be on my own :o Whether we physically do stuff ourselves or organise others to do it, we can take pride in the fact that we are survivers and good problem solvers ;)

Hey doner at least you tried mate! I would have thought oh help and called a plumber! But then I have a little wiggle room in my budget... not a lot but a bit.

And you need to grieve the end of the relationship too. That is what the tears were about, I am guessing not the plumbing!

Heya Karen! Nice to meet you :T

So sorry to hear about the DD dad issue...that must be awful :( I am very very lucky that Emily has never seen her dad as he denied even knowing me let alone being her father and it turned out he was actually getting married to someone else...but he forgot to tell me! I was picking them good and proper even at that age! So at least we don't get any grief from his side. I know he has quite a lot of kids dotted around the place so I imagine he has his hands full with those!

Sounds a lot like my ex. He didn't want to do family either! Reckoned that his mates teased him about having to play 'dad' which I never ever made him do. We never done anything as the 3 of us, not even in 5 years. He never really made any kind of an effort with her at all, missing birthdays and Xmas to the point where I would preempt it, buy her a pressie and say it was from him. She is an amazing kid and I feel like the luckiest mum in the world so she sooo didn't deserve that...another reason that makes him a selfish toolbag!

Well done on the 0% :) Nice to know that the money we are paying is now actually coming off of the debt isn't it! Sorry to hear about your house...sounds an awful lot like mine. This house is a good thing to keep me motivated moneywise as once the debt is gone I am gonna concentrate on sorting out the home and finally having somewhere nice to live as opposed to somewhere which is literally falling to pieces! The Council couldn't give two hoots about the condition it is in, the countless arguments I have had with them I can tell you!

Not looking forward to calling them tomorrow but need to get things moving.

Do you have a diary on here?

    Heya Chev and Hopeful1 :)

Yep the tears were certainly about that if I am honest! Emily told me I should get a grip as a loo is not worth crying over and then my dad said it was due to the fact that it was being brought to my attention yet again that I am on my own!

They both were right but then thinking about it, if the ex was here he wouldn't have known what the heck to do anyway if I am honest! Suppose I kinda wanted someone to look at it and tell me that I should have left it the hell alone!

Well have sat down at watched a DVD with the teenager and am getting ready for bed in a mo. Really hope I can sleep but it feels mega hot in here so reckon I will have trouble sleeping and Buzzby who sleeps on my bed gets very fidgety!

Managed to survive Monday and Tuesday was a busy day as had a friend over for tea so we are at Wednesday already!

Having a right ol' hoo haa with the Council over my single occupier discount and reckon the have to make 'enquiries' to confirm what I have said! So have been in contact with them again trying to get them to pull their finger out and tell me what I owe them!

Just logged onto Internet banking and it appears that HSBC didn't take the final CC payment to make the card zero, so have manually paid it to them as don't want them trying to claim extra interest etc for any time they maybe able to!

Been trying to work out what to get my nephew for his 2nd birthday in 2 weeks time! He has an older brother who is 4 so he gets all of his old toys and they don't want for anything! Makes it hard to know what to get!

I have tomorrow off to try and get the leaky loo sorted...I hope to gawd they turn up!

Spent the evening in IKEA getting my nephew a birthday pressie, managed to get a giant toy snake and a hardback story book which stars the same snake for just over a tenner :)

Also saw on the Tesco website that Iams cat food was on buy one bag get one free and that is what my Buzzby eats. In store there was no mention of the deal which should have started today but at the checkout it went through fine. So brought 4 bags one of each flavour and only paid for 2!

I have also listed a new PS3 game on ebay that I brought for the ex but he never used. Hope to make about £15 on it if possible :)

Emily wanted a DVD from Tesco when we were in there and it was a fiver. I remembered at home I have a save £5 over £50 spend voucher which expires on Sunday. I will go and do the food shop this weekend at Tesco and then use the voucher to get her the DVD :) xxx
