Tried phoning the Council regarding the Council tax and it is such a hoo haa! They reckon they take about 4 weeks to get through their automated email box and that I should complete their new online form. I done this and mentioned about not being able to backdate it. I have informed them though that I notified them straight away via their website and hope they can backdate it for me.

Checked HSBC and the balance has now gone from the card, leaving just the one card I am using. Reckon I may write letters to all the old card companies and get the cards cancelled as no point keeping them open and only want one at the end of all this debt and I want it paid off asap of course!

Well was meant to be going out with an old friend tonight that I haven't seen in ages but that all fell through so spent the night in with the teenager watching a movie and generally scoffing my face!

This comfort eating has to stop really or I am gonna get to the point where I can't wear any of my clothes and will have to buy more (which I soooo ain't doing!) so I need to get focused!

I haven't really done a proper food shop since the ex left and that has been just over 4 weeks now. Need to start taking care of myself more.

Spent some of the evening trying to sort out the leak I have coming from the loo down through the floor which has made a hole in my ceiling. I have worked out exactly what is going on and hope to fix it tomorrow. The parts shouldn't cost too much and will be good to get it sorted. If I can do it on my own will be a mega accomplishment so gonna give it my best shot. Shouldn't be too difficult, providing I can get the bits out to swap over.

Oakies off to bed now but am looking forward to a semi relaxing weekend bar fixing the loo! First weekend since the split where I haven't been busy busy busy but could really do with the rest. Has been a tough week so looking forward to the break.

Gonna list a few bits on ebay (for my sins) this weekend too as really want to pay a bit more towards the card than the minimum payment xxx

nice one on the transfer on the cards. I can see that would be a great relief. good luck with the loo. I am not sure I would be brave enough to try!

Thanks Chev :) I think the loo should be ok as I can see exactly what is causing the leak...well combination of 2 things really so know the bits I need to change, just a case of doing it! Gonna try my best :) Especially as there is no man of the house (apart from Buzzby!) so I need to be able to work things out for myself.

Just chilling out for a little before getting on and getting to B and Q to get those bits for the loo. I think I might go out for a run tomorrow morning as well as get some foodies in and try and do a meal plan as have a few bits at home to use up first to save money. I was toying with the idea of mountain biking tomorrow but the weather has been awful here so that is a no no I think! Need to get running again really as have a half marathon in 2 months and I haven't ran properly for weeks! Problem with running though is that it makes you more hungry...eeek!

Trying to think of what things I have to pay out for over the summer...

Car is sorted now so the Service and MOT is done. Phew...that was a lot of money this month as it is :( But had to be done!

    Buzzby needs his yearly jabs...

Car Insurance will be due in September but reckon I might pay this monthly from now on

Emily has the summer holidays and I have a couple of weeks off too so am debating as to whether to buy her a monthly travel card for August

Brother's girlfriends birthday on Tuesday plus my nephew's birthday in 2 weeks time, then my brother's birthday in August plus my step mums too!

Jeez!!! Plus Kickboxing Grading for me and Emily in August too...gawd!

What a weekend! I have spent most of it getting in a flap trying to fix the leaky loo and now after blood, sweat and plenty of tears (which I think was due to recently becoming single and then continually thinking if there was a man in the house he could have helped and then realising that that probably isn't the case!) I have given up and have resulted in turning off the water and will phone the Council tomorrow to get someone round to try and fix it asap.

I really wanted to try and fix it myself as the Council are a complete mare here and basically they will never turn up on the day they are supposed too and usually not the next day or the nest either, wasting several days off of work :( I will call them first thing and stress the importance of someone coming down to fix it as the dam leak has made a hole in the Kitchen ceiling as must have been leaking for a very long time and the fact the previous tenants boxed in the loo means that I couldn't see the leak :( Even more annoyed at the fact I wasted money trying to fix it myself, but will be taking back the bits I can to get a refund and will have to write the rest of it off and put it down to a bad mistake.

I can't believe how stressed I was getting and the constant crying too...just couldn't stop myself. I hate getting beaten by anything, let alone a dam leak! Looked at the local College and they do an Intro to Plumbing course so reckon I might save up and try and get some birthday money when my birthday arrives (on the 5th of November) to pay for the course as they run it several times a year. Only way I am gonna learn I suppose and could do with knowing things like this, especially with no blokey to ask!

Went to get some foodies today and took back that top to Asda and also tried really hard to keep the costs down. I went to get a few cheapo items of clothing and then put them back so am proud of myself there!

Well plan to get the dinner on and stick on a DVD to try and wind down...Grrrrrrrrr!

    Hi there:)
Just read through your posts and just wanted to say 'well done' :T
You sound so like me! I am a single mum to a 9 year old DD and work near enough full time as a payroll manager. Instead of the cat we have a little dog, Tia. I had a terrible split from my DDs dad when she was born and things have got steadily worse and we are now at the stage where she doesnt see him anymore (very long story.. and not the situation wanted). We are waiting for him to take me to court for access now. Stress!
I was with someone for 2 years up until 4 weeks ago when he suddenly decided with no real explanation that he didnt want to do 'family'. I wouldnt mind but we didnt live together and I wouldnt let him stay over until we had been together for a year as I wanted to make sure my DD was ok with things and we never did anything all 3 of us together so he cant say I was rushing anything!! But hey ho.
I'm also in debt and really trying to get straight and pay off a credit card (0% so thats good) I've even been considering selling my house and renting as the house seems to be falling to pieces!! The conservatory is coming away from the side of the house and we can see the sky through the gap!! The kitchen keeps flooding due to bad plumbing and the list goes on but i just dont have the money to get it all fixed.
Anyhow I was so nice to read your posts and know I'm not alone :)
I shall be reading and following to see how you get on
