In freezer yesterday - a meals worth of smoked haddock - it was on offer at Mr Ts - got the rest in fridge for Friday's dinner.
Out of freezer - 2 HM muffins + bag of plain flour + 2 bags of fruit - going to make some crumble. Flour in freezer in case of those dreaded weevils.
I didn't post last night - no photo either - as I served up dinner - I knocked most of the gravy over the kitchen counter.
For dinner we had HM TITH with roast potatoes/roast parsnip + cauliflower + swede + onion + what was left of the gravy.
I went shopping yesterday - had a gift card to use so filled my shopping trolley - plus I got a 5kg bag of onions in Li.. for £1.99 We love onions.

5kg of onions...wow...don't wanna be around you guys for the next few weeks :rotfl: good bargain though!
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:

    Evening all.

Pretty much stuck to what I said I would have yesterday, but in my crab sandwich, I added beetroot and on my sweetcorn chowder I added some lardons my grandma gave me, I portioned some and put in the freezer, also left some out for the rest of the chowder, I steamed the green beans, the put them in the George foreman, along with the lardons, dinner was yummy.

I have taken out the last 2 rolls from the freezer for tomorrows lunch, with the remainder of crab and mayo, going to have chowder and lardons for dinner again.

In to freezer tonight - HM pie + tub of pie filling + HM shortcrust pastry.
Out of freezer - HM muffin.
I made a pie for dinner - no name - just one of my made up recipes.
Made enough shortcrust pastry for this pie plus some to go in freezer.
I simmered all the ingredients in a pan on the stove then turned into dish when cool and covered with pastry. I use Trex - makes fantastic pastry.
I used a pork steak - cut into bits - cooked the other evening plus a tin of value baked beans, an onion, two peppers - from a value bag - Mr T.
Plus some soft tomatoes, a large mushroom, 2 sticks of celery, 3 cloves of garlic - last I had, chilli flakes, garlic granules, rinsed out empty barbecue sauce bottle and a stock cube. Also added the gravy meat was cooked in plus some flour to thicken sauce + ground black pepper. Enough to serve 8 - we had 1/4 pie between the two of us - cost of pie - £1.82 Really filling and tasty.
So 1 pork steak made 8 portions - trouble is - lots to go in freezer!
Served pie with roasted cubes of sweet potato tossed in oil and mixed herbs plus roasted beetroot, roasted red onion and roasted peppers.

Morning all. Last night I ended up doing a Chinese which was quite good since we were watching The Karate Kid lol. I used some small duck spring rolls, and egg fried rice out the freezer. I'd also bought whoopsied mini pork ribs. Ds really enjoyed it and scoffed the lot.

Tea today will be something out as ds is at Beavers so heading over to my brother's after school.

Supposed to have the plumber coming to look at the shower today as the hot water isn't coming through. I'd say it's as useless as a chocolate fire guard, but at least the fire guard would get hot!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

    Afternoon all.

I've been out walking in three sun, It's lovely.

I bought some strawberries for the creme fraiche Icecream me and my grandma are making on Sunday, so its not included in my grocery budget.

I went into the £1 shop to see if they had any greens cupcake mixes as I'm having my god daughter round on bh, they didn't have any but i spotted metcalfs yogurt rice cakes, I love them, they usually have them in itsu 2 for £1.10 so a 6 pack for £1 was a bargain, also went and got my free snackjacks and tropoicana, went to tesco and got a free pack of always and fairy washing up liquid using coupons, so not a bad days spend.

I also bought 5 white choc cookies and a white chocolate and vanilla milkshake, so good, ate 2 cookies and put the rest in the freezer, to stop the temptation. Lol.

Breakfast was a smoothie, lunch was crab, mayo and beetroot sandwiches, dinner will be Sweetcorn chowder with lardons and green beans.

^ good idea with the cookies! I wish I'd put some biscuits on my delivery today. Had fantastic selection in my veg box today (gpigs very happy too). Got busy few days ahead so may not get much time to cook though..

Didn't use up any food yesterday as had to go out.
Today had egg and toast for breakfast and again for lunch..
Dinner - wild garlic and portobello risotto, was lovely!

Pie looks good, Florenceem (minus the pork!).
WP - I was lucky to get an allotment before they got popular! I'd be happier to grow veg in a garden though as mine is a bit of a walk - it's a lot easier to just go outside the door and pick when wanted too.

^ Was thinking of doing coleslaw as got lots of cabbage and carrot.
    That is a BIG crumble!

I've just made fruit fairy cakes - slightly healthier than buttercream ones... used up the marge so will have to buy more. Only use marge in sponge cakes.

I used 10 ozs plain flour + 4 ozs butter + 4 ozs OOD Muesli + 4 ozs golden granulated sugar. I added some cinnamon to the fruit and the crumble mix. Mr F found the bags of fruit in the depths of the chest freezer.
That crumble will do us for umpteen breakfasts with custard.

  • Hi everone - hope you are all starting to enjoy a good Bank Holiday weekend.

I have loads of work on so will be working for some of it but being self emplopyed it's always good to have work in!!

Haven't been on much lately as have been having horrendous problmes with DD2 - long story short she was being subjected to a campaign of snidey comments, kids laughing at her, taking photos of her on their mobile phones and sending them round and stuff like that. It was relentless and she was really upset and that was the reason she wouldn't go into school. It took her slicing her arms open with a razor and a trip to the hospital for it all to come out though and the upshot is that she is going to a new school now. She seems to really like it - it is a small private school and they know all about what happened to her. The fees are an expense I hadn't bargained for but her Dad will pay half (or a bit more even) but I will have to be MUCH more disciplined with my food and other household spending from now on. It really has been a horrendous few weeks.

I have just put some potatoes in to bake for lunch, with tuna and salad - the potatoes were really getting to be past their best but they are okay (just)! I am doing a roast chicken with veg for tea - all of which I have in the fridge so no shopping for me today, except I need to go to Aldi for dog food. I will take the exact money though as otherwise I will be browsing and buying!!

Kittendothroar - chocolate plums? Where do you get them? I LOVE stuff like that!!

Florenceen - how are the house renovations going?

I have a big cupcake order for tomorrow as well - I will make them fresh in the morning though as I think they are much nicer that way - that will boost the coffers too!!

I also need to get out in the garden and start to try and tame it - it has been very neglected over the winter!

Hope you are all having a good weekend!
    Jane
