Morning all. Had a lovely weekend, hope you all did too. I went to Asda and spent £26 on Saturday. Had a trip to Brid yesterday which was a good day out. Had fish and chips for tea but my favourite one closed by the time we got to it, so we went to a different one and I didn't enjoy it at all. The first fish, which I was giving ds half of, was uncooked in the middle.

Used a couple of things from the freezer over the weekend, like meatballs, and have taken Piri Piri chicken wings out for lunch and snacks, and crispy belly pork with cider jus for tea tonight. I need to make room for more veg really, and need a bit of room for maneuver as it's jammed!

Jane - Sorry to hear about what's been happening with your dd, but hopefully the new school will be just what is needed.

Anyway, need to crack on. Catch you all later!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

I emptied out and defrosted the small freezer today.
Managed to get all the food in two cool bags with ice blocks inside. Then I covered them with a large towel and left them on the stone floor in the garage. We carried the freezer outside and I worked on it - bowls of hot water and a hair dryer. :(
All defrosted and cleaned - put it on a high number to get it cold quickly. The food had stayed well frozen and is now back in situ. As I filled the freezer - made a note of what we had - on which shelf - all noted up on the computer now. :o
I like to be organised - I have even given the different food categories - colours - I can't help it. :rotfl:

^ Does make it much easier to plan how to use it all.

Nothing out of the freezer here today.
Added to fridge, a kilo or more of asparagus.

    Breakfast - banana and OJ
Lunch - egg on toast, apple
Dinner - saag aloo that I made last night, which was so good, and soysages which I wasn't that keen on, strange combo but couldn't be bothered to cook. Will use the other soysages with fried egg, think that will work better!

Going to make another batch of the Nigel Slater split pea dahl tomorrow with added cauli this time. Does mean more meals in the freezer temporarily but will use them up when the builders come back and I can't get to cook.

HM shepherds pie out of freezer.
    Nothing in to freezer.
For dinner we had a quick meal as it was a busy day. Garlic dough balls with quiche and HM coleslaw.
Tomorrow's dinner is - roasted sweet potato chunks with honey roast gammon and veggies.

    Evening all.

I had breakfast of a smoothie, at about 4pm I had a late lunch in prezzo with my Aunty which turned out to be a 3 course meal! I had crab cakes only 2 with garlic mayo, a calzone and salad, then a eaton mess cheese cake yummy and I was stuffed 2 hours later I went to Zumba class lol wont do that again, just had a tangarine that I took from my aunts house, nothing more to eat.

I think I will put a portion of the cheesy pasta in the freezer, it was yummy and my god daughter lapped it up, then told anybody who would.listen about it! I saw her today and she said i really enjoyed dinner yesterday! Bless her.

I did buy a garlic bread in Tesco, one of their value baguettes for 32p but only because gd wanted it and we made cookies not cupcakes, so that was £1.52 out of the entertainment budget.

Out of freezer - tub of blackberries as I didn't have enough fruit ready for a crumble.
Don't know if some crumble will go in yet.
For dinner we had roasted sweetcorn chunks with herbs plus honey roast gammon + cauliflower, carrots, onion & swede.

and I was stuffed 2 hours later I went to Zumba class lol wont do that again

Sounds painful :rotfl: Well done for commitment though, I wouldn't have moved all evening after eating that lot!

    Today:

More gone in freezer than out.. but nothing bought. I made split pea dahl with cauli earlier but half messed it up as put the cauli in too quick so was bit soggy, but eatable.. 4 portions in freezer. Next time will just do the split pea dahl with no added veg...

Breakfast - toast and cheese with OJ
Lunch - soggy cauli dahl and bread
Dinner - fried egg topped with home grown chives (was supposed to be omelette but run out of eggs), griddled home grown asparagus, a soysage and 3 boiled potatoes (rest of the bag).

In the breadmaker at the mo, some dough to make iced lemon buns, can't wait for them to be done.

All the veg box used now except a few onions. Put order in for salad box only this week as won't get much chance to cook next week. Ordering a few bits with it, dairy, herbs, naan bread (to improve the dahl) and more of the lemon choc dipped biscuits... Will use some of the home made meals I've stuck in the freezer next week.
