  • Risotto made this morning, portioned into three and put into the freezer.

    Did a bit of a T's shop, ended with a few bargains on the reduced section: 2 x Wispa yoghurts @ 39p each, prawn toasts @ 40p, 3 x packs of sausagemeat @ £1.09 each, a large portion of breaded cod @ £1.69, 2 x packs spring rolls @ 55p each, mac&cheese pasta pot @ 75p, loaf of ww bread @ 65p.

Also got my free Chicago Town pizza so another £3.99 off the total bill, and used coupon for Clover and Canderel (£1 & 50p)

Shouldnt need anything now until I come back from hols and that will be beginning of June! :D

I still had my kitchen last night. I made a smoked salmon quiche using a pack of salmon trimmings from Mr T. We had HM wedges + salmon quiche + stir fry cabbage & onions.

Got onions in Wilkos last week, very late as is everything this year - first year not had them in over winter so just doing some late summer ones - they were reduced to £1 for a big bag full. Runner beans will go straight in the ground this year, ditto the french, flat, borlotti and canellini. Got lots more seeds in now - parsnips, carrots, beetroot, radish all up so far, potatoes up too, herbs doing well. Picking loads of asparagus.. more than I can eat!

Can't remember what I ate yesterday, houmous, couscous, bread etc iirc.

    Today:
    Breakfast - toast and cheese
Lunch - toast and egg & lemon bakewell
Dinner - couscous tabbouleh with chives, parsley, hm dressing, roast peppers with griddled aubergine/haloumi on top. Nice, quick dinner. Made a double portion to use tomorrow.

Finished the last of the couscous in ^ but will use up the bulghar wheat next.

^ Wow, that is major upheaval, makes my kitchen look good lol - at least I should still have 3 useable walls in my kitchen tomorrow!

(Unusual black cupboards in your old kitchen).

    Morning all.

I have to confess, I can't fit anything else in my freezer at the moment after buying those 50p ready meals. I need to organise it so the ready meals are at the bottom, to stop me munching on those since they are easier to get to lol.

Not sure about meals today but I'll be in town. For lunch I fancy trying a new Mexican street food place that's opened as they do daily offers. No idea about tea as I'm going to see the new Star Trek film (Chris Pine yummmmmm!!) and it's at 4.40 so might just grab soup when I get in.

Flo - can't wait to see pics of the new kitchen! The quiche looks lush too. Whenever I make a quiche the damn thing leeks, any tips to stop that? Also, would trex be ok to use for the pastry?
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

I always use Trex to make shortcrust pastry. When you say - quiche leaks - do you mean comes over the top - if so try using less filling. It you mean quiche is not set enough - a quiche hardens as it cools. You can add an extra egg to get a better set. I use the old Be Ro recipe - Quiche Lorraine.
