Been there once many years ago, that's waay over for me. Don't know that area well at all. Been to Margate and Deal a couple of times.
OH has made me a list of what he thinks I should buy from Sainsbos Sunday to go in freezer. Lamb stock he made went in, cheese and butter returned and some hake fillets. He went a bit off piste cos I noticed the list unfreezable stuff :rotfl:0 -
Morning all. Been catching up on the thread whilst in bed, but now I've shifted my tush and got myself a coffee. Hope all are enjoying the weekend and having the sun poking it's head through the clouds!
Went to the cineworld yesterday with ds. Only cost £2 for us both to see Rise of the Guardians which we both really enjoyed. Much prefer watching films without the 3d nonsense. Dinner was at mam's. Had an egg and bacon sarnie with a slice of victoria sponge for afters. Mam was talking about making a carrot cake next so will pass on that recipe kirri.
Tea was the Hairy Bikers posh sardines on toast. Bought the sardines from Mr M's. Never bought them fresh before and at 75p for 3 I thought they were a bargain. Had to gut them myself, but that didn't end up being as messy as I thought it would be. Managed to de-bone them pretty well too. Floured them in a seasoned flour, fried and served on crusty toasted bread with tomatoes and sweet red onion.
I think I need to eat more fish, especially the oily sort, and eat less red meat. Will try to have a couple of portions a week.
Nothing in or out of the freezer. Going to aim to do that all this week, so only going to take the bare minimum cash out with me on the school run.
Question for people. I have a pack of 40 cocktail sausages (in fact I may have 2 packs) in the freezer. Would I be ok to cook a pack then freeze some of the sausages and use them as and when, for little extras for ds' pack up?There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

I see no problem for you too cook them then freeze them in portion sizes.
I have cooked sausage and not all got used so froze them in potion sizes just to take out as and when.

Def do, I've tried quite a few recipes before and never really liked them till this one but thought was so good
The only changes I made to it were that I used 6oz light brown self raising flour (instead of 4oz wholemeal/2oz plain) and I used 1tsp baking powder instead of the cream of tartar/bicarb (as I didn't have the cream of tartar and seems to do the same job as baking powder anyway).

Cooking the sausages and freezing them is fine Lip_Stick. I would suggest not cooking all of them and storing all of them cooked because they may dry out when frozen faster like that. I'd suggest say cooking 10 and freezing in two portion of five or something0

Hi all, I've been following this thread for a while and found it very interesting reading
Can somebody please tell me if you can freeze cream, and if some varieties are more successful than others? My local Waitrose had pots of extra thick double cream reduced to about 30p a pot but I wasn't sure how successfully it would freeze. Do you decant it? I've frozen slices of Victoria Sandwich with cream in the middle in the past, but never a whole pot.
TIAx
