The chilli was lovely. Not sure ds appreciated the mild spices lol. Best train him up! I couldn't tell there was lentils in at all so will definitely put them in again.

Hi Lip_Stick I always put lentils in with my mince - it took ages for DS1 and 2 to find out and it makes the meat stretch so much further - I can use a 500g pack of mince split into 2 and make spag bol or chilli to feed us 3 with another portion back in the freezer for me for another time. I used to use the whole 500g and they'd eat it all because it was there

I had L/O special fried rice out of the freezer last night as it was just me and then the pasta bake tonight using the chicken and bacon I took out to thaw the other day
Anywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!

Hi Nancy :) Wish I'd put some in my shepherd's pie now! Do you put it in already boiled when you're frying the mince? The chilli I did in my slow cooker but I pre-boiled the lentils for 10 mins before adding. Is that a waste of time?

Hi Bettyboo.. welcome! Don't ask me what to do with broccoli. I made soup with the last lot I had and was nearly sick by the time I'd finished eating it. It wasn't great.

No idea what the offers for the weekend are kitty, sorry.

Well off to Tesco now to get the xmas pressies. Hopefully the parcels will be big so I can't carry much else. Thank goodness we only have two arms!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Well I've been quite productive just made a large pot of broccoli and stilton soup[always have loads of cheese as oh works for a cheese company!!!!] might not be the best but will be fine for quick lunches and used the rest of the broccoli [had 6 florettes lol] in a broccoli chicken and leek pasta bake, loose chicken breast found at the bottom of the freezer leek again shrivelled slightly bottom of veg rack campbells soup for sauce with extra garlic and used some stale bread for breadcrumbs for the top with more cheese looks lovely!!!
  • Day 1.... homemade parsnip and apple soup for lunch and tea, with some chicken and fruit.

OH had freezer soup and freezer spag bol.

Spent £50 on veg, bread, fruit and sandwich meat/cheese in Aldi. It seems a lot but that should see me through most of the month.

A pot of veggie chilli will be made for tommorrow & friday, OH having freezer fish & freezer mashed swede & carrot. I share soup & veggie dishes with my Mammy who is also on a pre-Christmas slim down and Faither will be eating his way through her freezer.

  • Made some special fried rice yesterday with the leftover pork loin, sweetcorn, onions and had that today for lunch, odd cobination but it was nice, had the last of the salmon fillets for dins it was only half with 2 slices of pork and the remainder of the rice, dunno what i will be having for lunch 2mo, may just take in one of the campbells pasta or rices. nothing left in freezer as it all defrostd then refroze.

Ordered a new freezer today it was well overdue, got 10% off on a deal in arg, it is the last day and 2 quid back from quidco at 1.5% so all in del inc cost me £195 for a black bush ff, although they said delivery is within 21 days, cant wait to get it and fill it up lol

Didn't get home from Tesco in time to start cooking so I just had crumpets that I bought today, only bought those, pancakes and cough medicine so did well at not spending... much.

Tomorrow I need fresh veggies but I'll have my pork chop and mushroom sauce for dinner and maybe chilli and jacket potato for tea, with something different for ds.

It does sound yummy. My soup was a low calorie 0 point soup, hence why it tasted so bad lol. Would have loved to put in a load of stilton!

  • STILL no fee cheque so really getting desperate now!

I went to Sainsburys tonight as we needed "feminine hygiene" stuff and while I was there I found a reduced (half price) chicken, bag of salad for 30p, cookies for 50p, pack of Basics sausages for 20p, apple pie for 60p and also succumbed to the BOGOF supersweet pineapples and tangerines and some sesame bagels. Ended up spending £18 which I don't have and am annoyed with myself.

Lunch today was a bacon and egg pie (home made) using some defrosted hm pastry and a couple of leftover sausages and some l/o ham. I have to say that it was absolutely delicious - MUCH nicer than a quiche!! There is alot left though so I will be eating it until after the weekend (kids won't eat it because they don't "do" yolks:mad:

Dinner was a frozen pizza and some frozen yakitori chicken skewers so a very easy tea!

Kitty - cheesy bean pie sounds lovely!!

Sally - how do you make parsnip and apple soup? Do you need bramleys or will eating apples do? I have a load of parsnips in the fridge so it might use them up and I do love hm soup.

Tomorrow I NEED to have a NSD - have chicken, butternut squash and other veg to use up so might do a mid-week roast dinner, but without the roasties!!

When I got home from S/B I cooked the sausages on the George Foreman so I could make sandwiches with them for tomorrows packed lunches and I tasted one and it was really nice - I have never bought basics sausages before and probably wouldn't buy them again unless reduced, but they were okay which was a surprise!
