I have been so good today!

OH was complaining (amongst other things) that we have no snacky foods, so instead of buying some stuff, i defrosted some sausages and puff pastry and now have 8 huuuge sausage rolls chilling downstairs! (Greggs... you better watch out!)

Also made us tuna pasta salad with bits out the cupboard and a ropey looking pepper that was on it's way out - Stinky the rabbit had the off cuts, pup has the left over egg from the sausage rolls and the casings in his bowl, so everyone is getting stuck in!

For dinner I had mediterranean style stuffed sardines which I'd bought from Asda a few weeks ago reduced. When I first had them with a salad I didn't like them much, but this time I chopped them up with my salad, took the skin off, then put 10 tonnes of lemon juice on and they were a lot better.

Went to the local shops and bought my frozen veggies, cucumber and tomatoes. The uneven shaped cumcumbers are 40p less than the straight ones. Daft really, who cares if they're fatter at one end lol.

So, doing good this week, although it is only Monday. :D

just worked out with my receipts, we have only spent £12 so far and our shopping is usually around £50 a week for a family of 3.
happy that i found this thread as i might get some good tips here!

    Got to start somewhere. :D

Only spent £1 today on milk, should be pleased but was hoping to get a few (well lots of bargains) from Sainsbury's to fill the gaps........but alas no.

Took out a 10p packet of Rankin potato farls to use with the pate tomorrow for breakfast (toasted). Trying to wait until Thursday to get some cheap leeks from Lidl and pick up some cheap veg from Aldi - unless Sainsbury's come good in the next few days. Might try Morries tomorrow night though.

Pack of mussels or free pizza tomorrow - see how it goes, but easy day.

    Good morning all...

I've not posted on here for ages but I've been reading all your posts.

I've been chugging away at emptying the freezer and took out some belly pork and hash browns for Sunday lunch which I added a couple of tins of beans to for the last 30 mins so all nice and sticky.

I also made a cottage pie from some mince that we had yesterday. Boys with my mum tonight but I've got some chicken and bacon out to thaw so I can make a pasta bake with my free campbells soup for tomorrow night for a quick meal before we go to the match.

There are a few gaps showing in the freezer at the mo and I'm like mymerrywidow - I really need to defrost my freezer before Christmas so that I can put the top drawer back in - it won't close propoerly because of the build up of ice when the drawer is in :rotfl:

If anyone needs to stock up their freezer (once defrosted :)) i recommend going to Farmfoods to fill it up. I filled my freezer a few months ago for £50.
The only thing i wouldnt recommend is their prawns- no taste and shrink a LOT!

lol cleggie you shouldn't be encouraging us to spend, i don't have a farms food tho

still using stuff up here, ds had toast and orange for breakfast i'm gonna make myself something in abit but i have a pounding headache so waiting on painkillers to kick in will either have poached egg on toast or crunchy nut, lunch is leftover sheperds pie for both of us, and dinner is gonna be pizza garlic bread and chips from the freezer :)

    Morning all.

Hoping it's a NSP day today. Dinner will be a tin of lentil and bacon soup, can't be bothered to make some up lol, and for tea its chilli which I might throw some lentils in to to see what it's like. I think when I do dishes like chilli, I have too high a meat ratio.

Actually, might make my own soup then I can do twice the amount of lentils to add some to the chilli, and start the chilli in the slow cooker. Hmmm.

Am I the only one who doesn't need to defrost the freezer? Mind you, might have to do with the fact it's fairly new and frost free lol. I do need to get rid of the stray peas and sweetcorn tho!

  • Hi Folks,

Would love to join you.... I need something to keep me on track to declutter and defrost.... I have far too much food/toiletries and like a few on here I am too easily seduced by a yellow sticker.

My freezer is gradually coming down (2 weeks visiting my sister in Spain and OH feeding himself), is it just me or do guys just eat what is there?

so from now on I pledge to buy
    bread
    milk
    fruit & Veg (Aldis)
    toilet roll
    sandwich fillings

I aim to do this until end of the month and take it from there....small steps to start with.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

    xx

Ps a\ny idea why I have a wee angry face at the start?
