I managed it a month or two ago, and totally cleared out the freezer. Just need to start doing that again, which i will!

Just had left over curry for brunch. And will meal plan for the week ahead. :)
    Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
    Debt payments 2012 £433.27
  • Did a grocery shop yesterday which came to £42.00, bought fruit, veg, milk, eggs, bread, cake making ingredients and dog food.

Dinner yesterday was chicken in tomato sauce made veg from the fridge and it was lovely. OH has taken the left overs into work today and there is enough sause left to have with some cod I found at the bottom of the freezer.

Dinnerf today will be roast pork, bough a joint when it was on offer in Mr T's a few weeks ago, veg will be the last of the green beans from the garden and cabbage also from the garden.xx

  • Went to Sainsbobs last night and got a free Goodfellas pizza - got the fully loaded meat feast and it was really delicious! NSD today - defrosted a chicken yesterday and it is in the oven for tea with cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, carrots and peas. I was going to make stuffing and yorkshire pudding too but decided it was fattening enough without adding yorkshires and stuffing!!

Lunch today was porridge for me and sausage butties for kids. I bought three lots of Tesco finest sausages on offer and froze them a few weeks ago and they are really horrible - they make me shudder - kids were okay with them though so they will have to eat the other packs when I defrost them! I like the Sainsburys Irish recipe sausages - they're lovely and only £1.15 a pack.

I might make some millies cookies later - for lunchboxes in the week, however they never seem to last long enough to be put into lunchboxes!!

For the coming week I have the following in the freezer:

    Chow mein
    large steak pie
    sausages
    mince
    veggie burgers
    hm pastry (to make quiche)
a good sized piece of gammon
    haddock and smoked haddock
    Birds Eye crispy chicken
    Sainsburys yakitori chicken skewers
    lots of frozen hm soups
    frozen cottage pie
    naan breads
    frozen chips

Cupboards have loads of pasta, rice, savoury rice, cous cous, bulghur wheat bread etc, and fridge has potatoes, cheese (lots), creme fraiche, mushrooms, veg, eggs, milk and yoghurts. We SHOULD be able to get through the week without shopping but we'll see......

WOW Kitty, how do you get them all so cheap? Is there a certin time that Morrisons reduce their stuff?
How about Tesco- do they have a specific time too?

    The pate sounds lovely Kitty!
  • My lovely 12 year old fridge freezer decided it would defrost on friday, so i had a steak sandwich for lunch today, with a whoopsied defrosted roll, i had that with defrosted chips, which were from asda, for dinner i had some of the defosted pork joint i cooked, with home made cheesey coleslaw and the rest of the chips, have 4 salmon fillets that i refuse to waste, as i only bought them last weekend, so will bung them in the george foreman and use them during the week for dinner and lunches etc.

need a new fridge freezer as i have had mone which was given to me, when i was 18, i am now 29 eek so i will get one i have seen inn arg0s using 10%off code and quidco

morrisons seem to reduce things about 3 on a sunday, and then they reduce them even more about 3.20 .... well thats what i gathered from today :) im not sure what time they reduce stuff during the week, have a young ds so we dont go to the shops that late (our local morrisons closes at 10 or 11pm i think)

not too sure about tescos hun, as tescos is over an hour away for me ....
although ive noticed in all shops things seem to be reduced more on a sunday rather than the weekdays... its probably because of the early shutting time

and bank holidays!! the reduced sections on bank holidays or the day before are fantastic! :) i had amazing stuff at easter time, had huge joints of lamb for 1 or 2 quid each

cant wait til next easter, just for the reduced section :p

    ;)

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi All
May I join in please , with xmas looming and holding off on the heating for now I need to save all that I can, and cutting the food shopping bill will go along way in helping :)

Have a reasonably stocked freezer and cupboards that i can run down (do not have masses of space) so I am hoping only to buy the essentials and use up what we do have in.
    Debt free

    I've been Money Tipped!
Well done kitty, great shop and nice to see. A good few £1's saved there. I'm going to have to change to Morries myself as my local Sainsbury's seem to have little to offer of late, nothing special anyway. Maybe I've been spoilt in the past!! Morries do like to use that 9p though when reducing............better than 10p I suppose!!

Got a packet of 6 mini pork pies today for 35p and forgot to add the jam I bought yesterday (84p). Made the lamb casserole, but will eat that tomorrow, just snacked today on pork pies, crisps and cheese - not really that hungry.
