My plan to not spend has been thwarted as yesterday I won £50 worth of vouchers for Aldi by doing their FB daily competition! :j

Thing is the nearest Aldi is some distance away and I've got to spend them within 6 weeks, so it's either going to be spent in one big shop or a couple of small ones. Never shopped in Aldi so God knows what I'll spend it on lol. Probably vodka, vodka and a bit of beer too. Can't complain though as it'll come in very useful!!

I'm dying to ask them 'can I 'unlike' you now?'. I'll wait until I get the vouchers before I do that lol.

Hi I just put a handful of red lentils straight in raw and by the time the mince is cooked they've softened and disappeared into the sauce - I do this either on the hob or in the slow cooker - just bung it in and save yourself washing an extra pan!!! :j

Thanks, that'll be a bit less faffing about I have to do then lol.

You're welcome kitty, some great savings to be had from the Lidl "half-price weekend" deals - stock up time for some items. More so if you like pork...............a regular meat offer :D

always pork isnt it? :) apart from last week which was steak, and i completely forgot about it  silly me

was planning on a no spend day today ... failed :/
went into coop and boughts a few treats for us.... i have an awful mouth infection and am on really strong antibiotics .. and i had to get ds home from school early so i could come home as i was in such a state ... so felt guilty about him missing story time at end of the day and not taking him to the park after school, so took him into co-op to buy him a cake

which turned into me buying :
goodfellas pizza (i didnt get the voucher :( ) thin pepperoni bogof £2.89 and a pack of bakersboys muffins for ds £1
    3 x garlic and herb doughballs , 89p each, reduced from £1.69
chocolate fresh cream sponge, £1.10, reduced from £2.20
mince pies, 50, reduced from £1
jaffa cakes 89p, reduced from £1.39

i also had a 600g family pack of cathedral city cheddar , was £5.59 .... i had it for FREE made my day :) had a voucher from them :) on the back of the voucher it said choice of 250g, 300g and 600g .... who would choose a 250g or 300g over 600g lol:rotfl:i obviously chose the largest :)

for dinner tonight ive had cheese and red onion savory bread from the freezer i had from sundays reduced section, and eating it with a nice cup of tea :)

not much but ill have some of the garlic doughballs later if im still hungry

    :)

    xxx

before i forget , also bought a mini onion bhaji from reduced section 9p .... they always have them in the local co-ops reduced section ... ds chooses one everytime :):D:rotfl:
  • Had some veggie chilli and fruit for lunch and am in the process of making a sag aloo (potato & spinach curry)

OH is having freezer beef olives, potatoes and sweetcorn... I am really enjoying this

olive spread (needed for packed lunches)
Mars bars @ 5 for £1 (for OH)
Bratwurst 6 for £1.28 in reduced section.... that is 3 meals for OH so could not resist

I used a piece of lamb shoulder that had been hanging around in the freezer for yonks and cooked it with a proper chinese satay sauce and onions for dinner. Didn't make it til late so not sure I'll be having tea. Ds is at a big fair with his dad so he'll be having tea out. Might get a takeaway later once I've polished off a bit of vino. :D

Kitty.... did you do your shopping when hungry? hmmmm

I've got a lone spud at the bottom of the fridge, plus spring onions so I could make potato salad with that. Thanks for the suggestion! :D

Aww meant to say in my last post I'm hope you're feeling better soon. Sure you shouldn't be eating something easy like ice cream with your mouth infection? ;)

quintwins, hope your little ones are better soon too. It's not nice when kids are ill eh.

Sally, sounds like you're doing well. :) Can't belive though how cheap mars bars are when you compare what goes into making them, to fruit.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Morning, had a great day yesterday sorting freezers and now have everything (well most) neatly sorted.
Short on lamb (only 1 pack of chops) and need beef, though got 3 packs of steaks and mince/burgers/meatball still. Only 1 lot of meatballs, so hope Lidl have these on at half-price soon. More pork than what I thought, but will still get a pack of chops from Lidl today.

Spent £1.94 last night - had some free Cravendale coupons and had to add something, so bought some ice-cream and a 10p pack of mange tout and a 10p pack of mixed salad. 2 x free litres of milk saves and will allow to spend on something else.

Made the pork casserole yesterday and that's for later, salad sandwiches for later and saugage sandwiches for breakfast........another easy day.

Kitty - hope you are feeling better!

last night went to friends for dinner, and my dad has just invited me over for dinner tonight :) so only OH to feed, he's with friends so will probably get something at the pub.

last lot of pancakes out the freezer for breakfast. I need to get milk, bread and snacky things for OH's lunch. He eats too much! So will see if there are any bargains to be had. Lidl's pork is great in stir fries, so might stock up on that - i think its on offer this weekend.

Lifting out some chicken for tomorrow will do a one tray bake type thing with veggies and potatoes and some yorkshires, and have a lemon meringue pie for afters too!

We bought some cod a few weeks ago so am determined to make at least one fish dinner next week!

  • Hello everyone

I wonder if you would be kind enough to recommend which special offer meats to stock up on at Lidl this weekend, for general cooking but also for batch cooking. I have a slow cooker but it is very under-used (as are my cooking skills :o, but I know enough to get by and would like to do more).

I will be passing Lidl later so any help would really be appreciated :)
