Hello again all, thought I'd let you all know I'm still here! Sorry for not posting, but I promise you all I keep up every day, hard as it is with how chatty you all are
I look forward to my catch up on here when I get in from work! (sad, aren't I?!)
Hope all those who are ill/have family members or pets who are ill/having problems at home/woodworm(!)/difficult times for whatever reason are doing OK and things look up soon
In terms of the title of the thread I've been doing OK - unfortunately I didn't join you all on veggie week because it would have meant me doing a lot of unnecessary shopping as most of my freezer is full of HM ready meals containing meat. I'm still working my way through my seemingly endless stock of lasagne portions (don't worry, not Findusshould be safe, unless it turns out Tesco whoopsied beef mince was actually horse as well!) Broke it up a bit with defrosted chicken casserole that was so old I don't remember making it!
Have filled up the room I made though by putting in several portions of HM veg soup to take for lunch in the week. Think I will also make a loaf of bread today. Or might be naughty and use the flour I've got to make biscuits... hmm decisions decisions!
ms_night_ryder yes I do know the hill you mean! do you ever do brixton hill? I used to walk part of my way home work (back when I could be bothered!) that way - it's steeper than it looks! Sadly its been over a year since I've done it...my latest excuse is the cold weather :rotfl:
Speaking of cold weather, hope everyone's keeping warm and has a good day!0 -
Morning all, hope all are well or feeling better and those family members also.
NSD yesterday and 3 in a week (I think) - getting better. lol
That "fake meat" you lot are talking about .................... it couldn't contain "fake horse" could it?? Just a thought??
I'm giving Lidl a miss, so NO 17p chocolate.
Next week's look rubbish also, so probably give it a miss also unless Brother wants anything.
Just a few things needed and might pop to Asda for bread and Aldi for carrots. Milk tonight from Sainsbury's and cheese if it's on offer. Potatoes needed, but might just buy a few loose ones.
Off to use last Groupon cupcake deal today and might have a look around the cheap shops.
Toasted tea cakes for breakfast (real veggie food it seems) and settled on stir fry for main meal.
Haven't totted up Feb spends (very lazy, sorry), but will do today.
Sadly, last day of "veggie" week.:rotfl:

Took YS organic lamb mince and pittas out of the freezer to make donner kebab for tea, but OH has to work late unexpectedly, so not sure whether to make it today or leave it to tomorrow.
Lurking in the freezer were a greggs steak bake (tasted very salty so not eaten), a cheese roll with ham (no idea why I froze that) but it defrosted perfectly so I ate that.
Also found a pecan slice (no memory of freezing that) which I might have later.....
So a proper mish-mash but stuff that is too good to be chucked without at least trying it, and at least its a wee bit more room in the freezer!0 -
Hi y'all ! Hope everyone is well/better, pets and woodworm included. Lynsey, I'm most concerned, it's not like you to miss out on Lidl chocolate
Ocado this morning and we were surprised when the driver came back and asked if anything was leaking. Got to last bag and yes, a whole bottle of environmentally friendly multi-surface cleaner on special offer had leaked and was almost all gone. Ocado bags are certainly waterproof as the Twinings organic peppermint tea box was floating about in the bottom. Ocado refunded both and sent me a $10 voucher too. The stuff made a mess of my nicest tablecloth on the kitchen table as well
OH went off to Morrisons and grabbed 4 of the Borges organic extra virgin olive oil 50% off at 2.34 to 17/02 as we had some before in December and that's the cheapest price for 500ml at the moment.
Into the freezer went more cheese (offer) butter and some frozen hake. Think we may have the imam bayildi again as I got a nice aubergine from Riverford yesterday.
Jelly Biactol - I'm thinking of getting ingredients for the microwave pud for OH to make himself at work
Anyone got any ideas for more challenges ?0 -
Not been to Aldi or Asda yet. lol
Got a small half swede for 34p and 4 packets of curry sachets for £1 and some menthol sweets 19p - just £1.53 so far on food.
Got the birds some fat-balls and ordered 10 bags of that Costco bird seed (£4.07 per 12.75kg bag) - 4 for MIL. Hope BIL picks it up, he has Costco card.
Cupcakes were nice and place very, very busy as last day for Groupon deal and everyone using their's up!!
Minestrone soup on now and found some lardons. God knows what's in there, found things I have no idea what is is. Meat?? Take pot luck next week. Soup for tomorrow.

Nothing went in freezer today. Out of freezer came - 2 HM muffins and some HM Toad in the Hole.
For dinnner we had HM chicken & Veg pie with roast potatoes, roast parsnip, savoy cabbage, brocolli, carrot and gravy.
Tomorrow's dinner - coated chicken with HM wedges and salad.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Muesli and vanilla yoghurt for breakfast
Banana for snack
Out lunchtime so had quick lunch when I got back of garlic tomatoes and cheese on hm oat bread toast, was too hungry to wait for a potato to cook
Dinner - last of the pasta sauce and pasta with leek, rocket, aubergine and broccoli
I've hardly touched anything in the freezer since I had my fresh food order delivered...
Made a batch of biscuits this evening and used up the last of the out of date choc hazel spread to sandwich them together. So that's one jar out of the fridge at least.
Am really ploughing through the veg box quicker than I thought I would. May get a small salad box delivered this week from Riverford as will run out of salad items, though I should have enough other 'heavier' veg for me for dinners - saves me going to a horrible supermarket! Don't see the need for me to go near a shop this week. Really want another Ocado veg box and next week's box looks really good, but will have to wait till I need a few more things to make an order worthwhile.
Thought I'd managed to hoover out the woodworm beetle thing but a new pile of sawdust appeared today0 -
