Distracted myself with some spreadsheet updating..

    Feb spends £54.29
    2013 spends £147.32

The Ocado order worked out such good value I may just put one order in a month through them now.. saves me having to go to the supermarket too :D Will see how many times I have to go for urgent top up items in comparison to Jan.

I made more coconut and cherry muffins - still got dessicated coconut that needs using up.
10 muffins going in - 1 portion prawn curry & 1 portion pasta dish coming out. Also coming out is some HM chicken and veggie pie.
For dinner we had suet sausage pie with roast potatoes/roast parsnip/cauliflower/carrot/onion/garlic and gravy.

Thank you for such a simple yet great idea - emptying the cupboards  I used buy too much food, forget about it and throw it away after it's gone bad. Lots of waste. But a few days ago I took a look at what I've got and I found pecans, prunes, figs and pumpkin seeds which are great for snacks, also pasta which I've finished already and 5kg bag of rice - I am eating it every day now: rice salad, fish with rice, meat balls with rice etc. and I'm loving it! So happy I'm using up the forgotten food!! :T

Have to report complete failure on the veggie experiment as last night had toughest organic sirloin steak ever (from Sainsbury's) which had only been in the freezer since last Friday

Tonight OH did roast wild partridge out the freezer with borani esfanaj using mix of fresh chard and frozen spinach. It also used up the half-spilled Yeo Valley natural yogurt from Abel & Cole.

    Nice photos Florenceem !

Morning all, soon be the weekend.

Gotta go out this morn as ds has speech therapy and I said I'll go. Need bread, but don't really need anything else.

Didn't enjoy tea at all last night. Was looking forward to it but wasn't impressed at all. Had Linda Mcs Cheese and red onion escalope with beans and wedges.

Don't know about meals today at all. Will have to have a root about. Think it might be stuffed butternut squash but depends if I an hold off eating meat after last night's meal lol.

Speaking of pests. Two of the neighbours were having a huge argument yesterday. We've had rats in the garden and one of the neighbours is going mad at the other for feeding the birds. I felt like I was in the middle as I see both points of view. One feeds the birds too much as there is a lot of left over seed at the back of the shed where the rats were holed up. The other is rat obsessed and putting rat traps down which are catching wild birds.

Have to admit it was quite funny when they were hurling abuse at each other. I actually feel sorry for the rat lol. Apparently there's only one little one left as it's siblings have all been poisoned. But the obsessed neighbours keep seeing it and thinking there's about 15 left lol.

That's shocking eh. Too many suppliers in the chain I feel.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

^ Those poor rats! I hate anyone who kills animals :( I'd be on the side of the bird feeder though they should put the bird feed in a secure container so as not to encourage the problem.

I'm not overly keen on Linda Mc stuff, find the sausages bland and the ready stuff much the same. The mozzarella quarter pounder was quite nice though (had it when on offer last year).

I had the last of the fruit bread for breakfast with fruit juice.
Lunch - Think I will put a jacket potato in again in a minute, was so nice yesterday with cheese/butter. Hungry already!
Dinner - prob more of the Tideford pasta sauce with veg, as the sauce has to be eaten within 3 days. This is probably one of the very few pasta sauces I like.

Re the horsemeat scandal, wonder if more producers will start sticking a UK meat sign on the packs in future rather than importing dodgy meat from other countries. The suppliers don't really seem to care, think they should be imprisoned whoever is responsible.

Don't forget Free Milk Friday with Cravendale - though should have won by now given they give away 2000 each week..

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.

blue_mango - welcome and good luck. I like your enthusiasm.

Picked up Brother and took him to Aldi (getting busier by the week) and he got quite a bit for £20'ish.

Just had toasted tea cake - change from toasted hot cross bun. lol
Veggie cutlets later with veg and hubby has some soup to finish.
NSD planned, but do need bread. Took out last 2 ciabatta's and may bake, though can get by and have 4 tea cakes left.
Last veggie day tomorrow and not too sure what to have. I might have another omelette and see if hubby will get rid of more Quorn pieces or sausages. I did find a half pack of Quorn mince, so spag bol is another option.
I'll need milk, cheese and few things tomorrow.

Lip_Stick - a couple arguing?? Anyone see that ex politician and his ex-wife taped call yesterday. So funny.

Still haven't added up, but think around £30'ish for Feb so far and that includes the Nestle order.
I'm doing OK, well better than OK and pleased with this year so far.

  • Just made 12 mincemeat muffins, some of which will be destined for the freezer.

3 portions of chill and rice to go in the freezer for OH's work lunches.

    And out of the freezer.......

A few slices of small seedy bread for brekkie toast, and thats it :o

DGS going home for his tea and I am on my own till after 10pm so hopefully some sort of HM meal portion will come out at some point today!! ;)

Ooooo......just remebered I noticed a Greggs steak slice in freezer (that DD bought for me ages ago and I didnt want), will go and get that out!!

Yay......go me!! A few inches of space!! :rotfl:

I've just spotted the rat at the side of my shed. It's about half the size of my pet rats so is fairly young. Apparently a rat catcher was down the other day and removed one of the neighbours traps, so this neighbour thinks the other has stolen it to annoy him lol. The rat catcher took it as it's inhumane, shame he didn't take the other two that he has lurking around the place. Not sure poisoning them is any less inhumane though?? Maybe he took the trap to protect other wildlife?

This horse meat thing makes me wonder about schools and their efforts to cut down the cost of meals. Wonder if they know where their meat comes from?

Lynsey, will have a look for that phone call later. Apologies, but it's last day of the free fish and chips, so veggie week has been abandoned for the time being.

blue_mango welcome to the thread. You sound like me with my 5kg bag of pasta that I bought lol. Plus I've about 10 smaller bags of pasta.

Fozziebear - I like Greggs steak slices, and their fancy doughnuts are lush too! Their sausages rolls are vile though!
