Well cant belive im back here 2weeks before payday:eek:

    We havent spent much spent

    £85 ocado week 1 and £20 co-op
then last week we spent £72 in lidls. and about £15 sainsburys as oh was doing mil shopping.

if you don't mind me saying how much do you normally spend? if you spent over £200 in 2 weeks. great cutting down for us all.

Hi on average month we spend £300 e aim for £250.There are 2adults, 3kids and that includes household, toilietries and hamster stuff.

Its hard as sometimes varies every few months.

if i see reduced and we eat it I buy it.
Every few months do storecupboard shop
every couple months might buy more household/toilitries ect.

but we still using xmas pressies for that.

we bulk brought wipes as they ere on offer.

I use mic of cloth and disposable nappies.

I have meal planned this week and we have stuff there its just usual case of we have not much everyone likes or fancies and no meat as last weeks shop just brought 1 chicken no meat or fish.

Me and kids happily eat veggie but hubby likes his meat.
Mid jan I was saying hes fed up of sausages as I brought loads reduced over xmas now hes glad of them.

so we have 4slices ham left
    1tin tuna
    3packs sausages.

    we have huge bag potatoes
    loads of eggs
    plenty butter
    big block cheese
    some frozen veg in freezer.

    cupboards
    dried pasta/rice
    passatta
    tinned tomatoes
    tinned beans/tomatoes.
    herbs and spices.
    curry sauce.

freezer leats 8loaves reduced bread and lots to go on toast.
    fruit bowls not emty yet
    have plenty onions
out tomatoes but have 1 lettuce.

    so its not dire.

Think might do kids tuna/sweetcorn for lunch.
make some hm onion soup for me.
    hubbys taken sandwiches to work.

tonight do fresh pizzas followed by hm sponge cake with jam and buttercream icing.

will defrost some sausages as will do sausage casserole and mash one meal this week.

    tommorow going to make pancakes.

will make twinks later in week.

instead cereal kids can have crumpets and toast.

    13days left until payday.

eldest birthday sunday so need to make cake and some nice food that day.

I think can meal plan next 5days
buy maybe £25 on top so yes will be saving this month as food only thing we can save on.

Will add extra milk on to milkman and order fruit and veg box to top up fruit bowl .

Evening all, hope all are well.

Finished the veggie week and not as good as it could have been, but due to trying to use up stuff I didn't want to eat just to clear space.
Loads of things I would liked to have eaten, but not enough time. A positive is, some stuff has vanished and hubby promises to get rid of the rest. I will eat the Quorn mince in a spag bol.
We will still have the odd veggie day and we did anyway, even if not planned.
No meat ate in a week, I wonder if we all managed to save at least one ....................... horse? :D

Ended up spending £7.86 yesterday and £3.75 today (check Sainsbury's for ice creams reduced by approx 75%).

Had minestrone today (with bacon) and almost a veggie day.
    Just snacked the rest.
Put loads of tea cakes and fruit loaf in the G Spots (all reduced), but breakfasts sorted for quite a while.

    Jan spends were £58.38
    Feb so far are £42.17

Not much needed this week apart from cheese (Sainsbury's offer OOS, try tomorrow), potatoes and bread. Milk later in the week and any cheap veg.

Pancake Day on Tuesday - anyone excited??

Minestrone again tomorrow for myself, hubby is having liver and onions.

    Lynsey

What veggie recipies did you make?
    im looking for inspiration:D

Would be looking foward to pancake day but frying pan truly crap wondering where can get very cheap non stick one?are lidls selling them this week? sainsburys basic maybe miss my old one which hubby broke.

I bought a nice one in IKEA for camping. Was only £1.39 last year. Sometimes the co-op have quality pans for a reasonable price.

  • I feel like I should rejoin this thread properly now as DM announced yesterday she wants to defreeze the small freezer in April and the other freezer when that's been done (we have a tall fridge/freezer in our kitchen and the other freezer is in our garage)! So we've got to get cooking!

So because of this - does anyone have any good recipes that involve frozen stir fry veggies or frozen filo pastry? O.o

Making cakes this week - we have a ton of baking goodies to use up, including coconut, dried fruit and a whole heap of icing sugar/caster sugar. And also pancake day tomorrow so that should be a fun sugary filled day haha.
  • Got another lemon cake in the oven, 1 more egg to use up now.

Had people round to look at kitchen, asbestos and electrics 5 people in total, I put the chowder on earlier and they all commented on how good it smells lol.

Pasta for.dinner with the last of the asparagus, spinach and brocolli.tender.stems and a bit of corn with the last of cream cheese and cheddar.

Will need some more veggies soon.

I haven't got any powder sugar for a glaze, dunno what to do, sweetcorn chowder was yummy.

Didn't go for a walk because it started snowing, will do tomorrow though, no stopping me.

Edwardia Mr s are doing 3 for 2 on organic cake maybe for your mum?

Kirri if you do go to Brixton on a Saturday, I noticed there is an organic fruit and veg stall, sold plantains too :)

Sounds like my place, waiting for all 3 as well, have got asbestos in the artex here so they can't do the repairs till it's removed..

Maybe I should try this chowder recipe..

Org stall as well, I do need to go and have a nose then.

Usual food for me at the mo:
Breakfast - more muesli and yoghurt
Lunch - another jacket potato and cheese
Dinner - no idea yet but am starving already! Will have it early.

Evening all. Hope everyone had a good weekend and is now looking forward to pancake day!

Made a pork and apple plait at the weekend but didn't season it enough and it tasted a bit... porky.. lol. It was extra special pork mince too. Didn't help that I'd had a glass too many of vino when attempting it. Tastes better smothered in chop sauce lol.

Tonight I'm having roast duck in wraps with mole sauce. Can't wait. Hopefully I won't make a pig's ear of the duck!

Spent about a tenner at tesco today but won't be needing anything else this week. Going to make a big effort to eat out of the freezer this month so I can spend cash on other things.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • Made a double portion of Lentil soup so about 10 lots for the freezer. I've got some whoopsied swede in the fridge and some leeks so a double lot of leek and potato soup tomorrow. My ready meal freezer does need replenishing.

I have a dilemma. I made a Veggie stew with tomato juice and didn't much like it but froze 2 portions. I keep putting off eating it. I did think about blitzing it and doing with pasta but I'm still not keen. Should I just bin it as I long have a dog?
