  • Morning all and hello to newbies!! :)
Hugs to those who need them WP hope MrWP feels better soon , what a horrible shock for you
Also hugs to pets for Kirri and Soworried and another who was feeling under the weather ...

Still have spent more than Id like this year, however am starting to see the back of the freezer!! yay! :rotfl:

Fed 4 people out of freezer and cupboards last night, with leftovers for today to pick at , plus (almost) the last of the xmas eve hoard for lunch!

Have 2 pies and 1 large salmon fillet left which I may get out for monday to go with some broccoli which needs using up , or could make salmon and brocolli pasta with a white sauce of some kind (anyone know if you can use sr flour as we only have that in!)

Also using up some bananas and eggs to make banana bread today (will butter/i cant believe its not butter do the same as stork?? no point popping to shops just for that as Ill come out £10 lighter at least!!)

Hoping to be able to desfrost the freezer within the next few weeks as did notice quite a few of the things had was it freezer burn? like ice getting into the packets?... tastes fine once cooked tho! ;)

Have about 4 big 500g packs of quorn in the freezer from when they were half price £1.60ish in MrTs which should do quite a few meals indeed , am thinking quorn chowmein using rest of broccoli and some sweetcorn and maybe a sheperds pie/chilli...

Have a great weekend all - just off to drag myself out of bed for a run! Ill feel better after it I know, its just the thought of getting out in the cold! ;)

Morning all. Just had a flurry of snow, so I'm guessing it's cold out there, but I'm not venturing out to find out!

Had my steak yesterday which was as tough as old boots. The instructions say to fry it for 3 mins one side, then put it into the oven for 15-20 mins. I just quickly fried it both sides. Think that would have made the difference? Don't think I'm going to buy cheap steak anymore. I did ds a burger but realised after it was cooked that it was one of the spicy ones, so had to pick the bits of chili out lol. Served it with peas, onion rings, mushrooms and lattice chips, which are awful as they're mostly little bits.

Still have some steak left for a wrap today but fancy mayo with it, and don't have any. :(

Ds is having his tea at his dad's today, poor thing. _pale_ No idea what I'm having.

Was on a bus yesterday and had a bus driver quibbling over 10p as I was getting off! Talk about being pedantic... and needing a life. Sad git. It's not my fault if other drivers have told me it's 10p cheaper lol.

donnajt - I just :rotfl: at cheesy wotsits. Ds asked me what I was laughing at lol. :D

fozziebeartoo - welcome to the thread. Your chicken and mushroom dish sounds lovely.

Celia - Welcome to the thread. :) You can take my place on veggie week. I'm not sure I'm going to do very well on it.

Lynsey - You have my vote for being the breakfast tart, with you lazing around in bed while hubby serves you coffee and probably runs round on his hamster wheel. You remind me of the main woman from Downton Abbey! :p

    Kirri - hows the pets?
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Morning all, bit of a frost up here!! Better than strong winds though. lol

Celia - welcome and good luck. Nice easy introduction with the "veggie" week then.

fozziebeartoo - welcome also and good luck.

Strange, but the "Yorkshire Buck" reminded me of your ex. :rotfl:

Jelly Biactol - great spends, especially with all the cooked meals in the freezer.

NSD yesterday and popping out for onions, carrots, cabbage, double cream and mushrooms. Definitely the tagliatelle with blue cheese sauce tomorrow to start "veggie" week. Think I'll get a few packs of hot cross buns also for breakfasts. I need milk also ........................... could be an expensive day ..................... double figures ....................... £10+!! Might miss a few things off. :D

Hoping for an Italian Groupon today and a visit to M&S Outlet Shop (they get most of my food savings!!).

Anyone doing anything on Valentines Day - apart from Lip_Stick. :p

M&S usually do something nice as a "meal deal".

    Thank you :)

I had so much ice in my beans, I emptied the beans and ice out onto a plate, picked all the beans out and put them back in the freezer - though when I did my risotto it tasted of 'freezer' that funny sort of frozen smell when stuff has been frozen for too long, it wasn't that nice really, still not sure what freezer burn is myself but I'm really going off frozen stuff :(

Struggling, me and them, am having to syringe feed them but one is struggling more and is cold, waiting for vet to call..

I'm surprised you didn't send your DS off with a packed lunch in case!

    Welcome Celia :D

Jan spends were just under £100, not sure how I did that as I didn't feel I bought much! 50% was fruit and veg and I bought nothing I would class as a main meal ingredient, just a few basics.

I've still not put my Ocado order in, I've run out of loads of things I need - I hate the way the website keeps changing the available slots and prices then if I clear the cookies they reappear but I couldn't get the slot I wanted to reappear as they kept reappearing in different combinations then the prices all went up and I gave up. Don't think there will be any cheap slots till Tuesday now.

No idea what I'm eating today, just been toast so far.

Thank you it has been a testing time to say the least but mr WP is doing okay although he does still get the occasional pain so back again to GP monday.

Quorn you can do so much with it....shephards pie, curry, lasagne ,meatloaf anything really you would use meat in.

today Mr WP will be having chicken and broccoli bake and noodles(bake from freezer I batch cook)

But I usually save £60 a month for 10 months off Morrisons stamps for there offer at end of year you gain £31 per trolley load we do it twice so gain £62.00 and all money we would have spent in that 2 months and after goes in holiday tin.
BUT Morrisons are not having the offers and prices high so this year decided to stock up my pantry with good offers when they happen......£5 voucher off Lidl this weekend when spend £35.00 so going to use half of january spend to stock up on things we like and will see how I get on this year.

Welsh Poppy Very romantic on the 14th. I wanted to get married on the 29th but it wasn't possible wrong year.

Celia - welcome, also waves from hampshire,

Oh still not well, can't keep very much down/in for 8 days, lost nearly a stone. So it's porridge, dioralyte for lunch and jelly, I'll see if he can eat a banana in the porridge - good for potassium. Never been good with his stomach in all the time I've known him.

Went to the freezer and got out what I thought was chicken thighs, but it was a piece of 'screwed up' gammon, put it in the slow cooker, will have to freeze again it when cooked. Serves me right for not labelling things

Florenceem, that was a huge weight loss your OH has had!

Zafiro - has your OH been to the dr? There was someone on tv the other night who had something go on that long, think it was campylobacter (or however you spell it).

Another vet visit and so just had more toast as wanted something quick and easy. May defrost a bolognaise portion for tonight as haven't been eating properly in the last couple of days so should have a proper meal..
  • Hi Everyone and welcome Celia and fozziebeartoo

Zafiro - hope your OH feels better soon - my best friends OH had campylobacter(sp) last year and was in a dreadful state - he had the runs and a sick stomach for WEEKS and it has left him with irritable bowel. He didn't go to the doctor until he was in a real state.

Welsh Poppy - sorry about your OH - hope he makes a quick recovery. I take statins - have only recently started and I am SURE that they have made my arthritis much worse. Today I was in Lidl and the pain in my knee was excruciating - I could hardly walk and was nearly crying.

Didn't have breakfast but did sausage and bacon panninis for DD's (elder one being home from University so the house is a tip) - I went to meet a friend for coffee and then went to Lidl to get the stuff for my big cake order for next weekend - I am making a 150 cupcake display in black and ivory for my friend's daughter's 21st. When I was in Lidl I saw the fudge that Lynsey goes on about so I bought some. I couldn't wait until I got home to try it but I found it wayyyyyyyy too sweet - I will use it to put into cookies or something though, so it won't go to waste. When I got in I had some beans with a very small jacket potato and I mixed some leftover sausages in with the beans and it was very tasty.

DD didn't go to school yesterday so there was murder last night when I got in from work. I don't really know what to do about it. She's also been and had her tongue pierced (with money pinched out of my purse) - I am at the end of my tether with her.......

Don't know what I am going to do for tea tonight, but am looking forward to veggie week, although mine will start on Monday. Looking forward to lots of nice things like cheese rissoles, brocolli and cauliflower cheese, Boston baked beans, veggie chilli, veggie lasagne.........

Hope you are all having a good weekend. Off to take yet more painkillers for my knee!

I had Campylobacter - dreadful illness - had to have a stool test for diagnosis. I was really ill for months.
