Breakfast was 1/2 HM muffin with custard. Elevenses was the last breakaw.. bar in the cupboard with a cuppa. Lunch was poached egg on HM bread toasted and a satsuma - last of those. Mid afternoon was a slice of HM syrup cake with a cup of tea.
Dinner - stir fry - enough for Mr F and I plus a portion for the freezer - approx total cost £1.20.
40p for a meal is really good and it was so tasty.

  • Went down with a bad case of 'bed glue' this morning so didn't get up till late. Brunch was the last of a whoops loaf, toasted, with lime, cardamon & jalapeno jelly - very zingy:p.

Went for a walk (definitely done my 5,000 steps for the day ... well, more like 13,800:)) and did a bit of food shopping on the way home. I've found a nice traditional greengrocers & fruiterers - you know, one of those with proper-looking veg, and eggs in a tray to box up yourself - so bought some fruit and veg (just over £6 worth), including an 'impulse buy' of a tray of baby sweet cucumbers for 25p, so any ideas what to do with them would be welcome:think:.

Also called in at a family-run bakers, which does really lovely breads, home-made pies and cakes and the like:drool:, and bought a selection of cake slices, 5 for £2 ... not all for me, honest, some are for a friend .

Tea was left-over chilli (always tastes better the next day) and rice; oh, and a cake slice

Here's to the start of Veggie Week:beer:

Imam bayildi is lovely, I had it a lot in Turkey with cheese on though some recipes have it without - I make it at home too.

No idea what borani esfanaj is though?

I did the oat bread, not keen, bit small and hard. Still I will have to eat it now, might make nice toast. Didn't bother to cook in the end, had the oat bread with the rest of the broad bean and onion dip and a bit of cheese..

    Welcome to Veggie Week :D

  • It's late and I am just Abington a play with DD1's iPad as she is out! thanks for the kind words about DD2 - she isn't being bullied - she has always been extremely stubborn and I think she is wanting to get back at her Dad - he left when she was little and is really secretive about stuff and never takes either girl to his house or stuff. It doesn't work though because he just comes round and shouts that he can't stand it and its making him ill.... Men!

Had pizza from freezer for tea with giant hotdogs that I got today in Lidl . Not very healthy - or even healthy at all but it was quick and I didn't feel like cooking.

Sorted out my stuff for veggie week - have lots of veg and salad, plus cheese, various pulses, veggie mince, veggie sausages and pasta and rice, plus I found a couple of packets of falafel and onion bajee mix in cupboard so am all set!! Over te years I have been an on off veggie but have always gone back to meat....

Better get to bed asits after one!

Zafiro - has your OH been to the dr? There was someone on tv the other night who had something go on that long, think it was campylobacter (or however you spell it).
    al..

Thanks Kirri and Recovering Spendaholic but it always very difficult to get him there. Out of an immediate family of eight, six are either vets or medics. I often think our son and I are the only ones who are non-stressed. So it more porridge and jelly. However last night I saw him sneaking off with a mars bar so the sympathy is waning.

Is this day one of the veggie week, hope so, as I've got loads of veggies in the fridge. I'm going to follow mainly a Mediterranean diet. Found a recipe book I had from years ago. I don't suppose fish is allowed.

    Today
    Breakfast porridge and fruit
Lunch seeded toast topped with red onion softened in olive oil with mixed herbs, plus, olives, semi dried toms, strips of roasted peppers.
The recipe said anchovies but I'll give those a miss until I know whether or not we can use fish.
Tea wholemeal pasta with HM pesto, crisp topping and goats cheese
Again, I'll leave out the tuna until I know.
Must also have my pistachios and dark chocolate as usual

So that's me done for the day, rest of it to be spent on chickens, housework (the kitchen needs a birthday) and admin.

    (it's in the dictionary:))

    BED GLUE (n.)
A complete inability to get oneself out of bed, whatever the promptings by friends and family, e.g. bribes of money/sweets, threats to remove bedclothes from or pour cold water on the sufferer, pointing out that they will bed late for work and/or lose their job. Bed Glue is a particularly common complaint amongst teenagers and students.

DD didn't go to school yesterday so there was murder last night when I got in from work. I don't really know what to do about it. She's also been and had her tongue pierced (with money pinched out of my purse) - I am at the end of my tether with her.......

Jane I really feel for you - is she old enough to have her tongue pierced without your consent? did you make her remove it...as for pinching the money - I can remember doing this until I got caught but it was like 50p here and £1 there not enough that my dad would notice. Has she always been difficult or could something have triggered her behaviour? like puberty bullying etc?

Have school had your daughter statemented? what are they doing to help? has she got a SEN worker? have they offered counselling etc?
