£1.99 - how many tubs do you get for that?? lol

Popped to Sainsbury's and got the milk, some Jarlsberg cheese on offer for £1 and some basic mushrooms for 35p - £2.35 spent.

Veggie day is on plan. Toasted hot cross buns, cheese and onion toastie for lunch and tagliatelle with leeks and mushrooms in a blue cheese sauce. Finished off the tart.

I'll probably need more cheese later and this "veggie" week will be expensive. ;)

The mushrooms will also do for tomorrows stir fry and hubby can have Quorn curry on Tuesday and I'll probably have an omelette with cheese. Wednesday sausages I think. EASY!!

Muffin and custard for brekkie. I had a yummy biscuit with my mid morning cup of tea - received in a Christmas present - hamper. My DS had asked - what did I want for Christmas - I didn't know - so they got a shabby chic suitcase and filled it with food goodies - I love the case more than the food. Don't get me wrong - the food was fantastic - top range goods but the suitcase - is to die for.
Lunch - fried off leftover roast potatoes, tomato, mushrooms, 1/2 sausage, 1/4 tin baked beans on 1/2 slice HM bread toasted. Followed by mango - stuffed after that lot. Cost of meal in photo + mango - less than 50p.

Lol I thought that gravy was good value!

You need to get down the dried pulses aisle, much cheaper than cheese ;) Lentil dahl?

    1/2 sausage

That's a very small meat portion, I try and watch portion size but have never thought of cutting a sausage in half

Was on the phone to my mother this morning and OH surprised me with breakfast in bed.. which included black pudding

Even as a previous meat eater I'd hate to have had black pudding as a surprise breakfast in bed _pale_

MNR - am liking the sound of your veggie meals, better than mine!

I have mainly been eating toast again today due to lack of time and not having chance to get any shopping but got a portion of nut roast out the freezer for tonight, just having with some garlic mushrooms for speed. Desperately need fruit and more veg and chocolate... have run out of snacks and my weight is dropping rather fast!

  • Thought I'd start off Veggie Challenge Week with a bang so brunch was a bowl of chilli:dance:

Tea will be mushroom pesto pasta; just waiting for the breadmaker to finish as I fancy some HM bread with it - the bread smells lovely and the wait is getting unbearable:drool:

I had some rather tired-looking leftover celery, so this afternoon I made it into soup with just a couple of other ingredients (potato, apple) using a BBC Good Food recipe - cost for 4 portions around £1.65.:)

  • Kirri you made me lol about the half sausage.

Dinner all done had a side of green plantain too and the 2 duchy scones warmed with butter, why are.they so good? Got a bar of white choc really cheap from lidl doesnt taste bad at all, I have enough rice for tomorrow I also have leftover spicy 5 beans, so I'm going to have beans on toast for lunch.

Evening all. Didn't have what I expected for dinner... we had a full English. Bacon, sausages, beans, mushrooms, tomato and of course, black pudding. Nothing like a bit of pigs blood and fat... yummmmmm! Not bothered with tea as I'm still full.

No idea what I'm doing for meals tomorrow. Might have philly with mushrooms and pasta. May also do some cheesy bread that I've got a mix for.

Decided I'm not going to tell or buy sis any of the offers I spot. I got her a couple of bags of the RTC 50p for 12 Asda chilli sausages, and because they weren't spicy enough, she binned the lot! Really annoyed with that. Also when Asda were doing 1/4lb burgers reduced to 50p for 4, they weren't meaty enough. They worked out at 12p each !!!!!! and she complains! I wouldn't mind if she ate posh nosh, but she scrimps and scrapes on cheap stuff, and these weren't smart price or anything. Well she can do her own bargain hunting now, the ungrateful cow. lol

    Anyway, had a NSD.

too fast - can't keep up!!!

Can't even find my last post!! lol!

Actually bought a chicken at full Lidl price today as butcher friend can't get me cheap ones till next week. Pretty tasty though.. full roast with veggies, tatas, steamed veg, mushroom gravy, yorkshires... nom nom... followed by woodland strudel courtesy of tesco for £1 with brandy spray cream.. don't mind if I do!!

Planning to make a quiche this week from some salmon trimmings I have in the freezer - got recipe off here a while back and last time it was a mega hit so need to try and at least equal that. Not planning the level of cookfest I went for last week though. Got too much on this week!

erm not an NSD today... spent £102!!
Ok did stock up on pepsi max, hubby's beer and catfood pouches amongst the bit of shopping I did need.... but ouch!!

Lynsey - Lidl have more choccy on next weekend's deal just in case you didn't already know!!!!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!
