Evening all !
Back from the cookery course - made tzatiki, houmous, borani esfanaj, imam bayildi and a no pastry veggie tart using Halloumi. My mother made an Egyptian rice dish instead of houmous and pitta bread instead of tzatziki.
tomorrow Halloumi tart and tzatziki so all veggie so far...0 -

Becca posts some fabulous recipes (she also has a facebook page) which are really inspiring and usually quite economical to make. Enjoy!

Morning all.
Ds free for the day. He got quite upset at having to sleep at his dad's last night. It's his dad's fault for leaving it so long. Phoned this morning and he seems fine.
Off to mam's for a lovely Sunday Roast. I'm hoping it'll be the loin of pork with it's salt and black pepper crust. It's always lovely and succulent. So damn tasty. Or perhaps it'll be a more traditional roast chicken, looking a lovely golden brown colour over the moist meat. Just the thought of the smell is making me hungry. Both would be served with a home made meaty gravy. mmmmmmmmmm. Not that I'm rubbing it in or anything.
Don't know about tea.
Looking forward to this week. Finally get some cash! Still have £200 to pay off the washer though.
I like the look of borani esfanaaj. I might get some falafel once I get some cash. Are the supermarket veggie ready mixes any good? I really liked the falafel that was in the Ainsley Harriot Lebanese meal I got. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
DH and I finished up the last of a Lidl mascapone ice cream for pudding last night, so a little space has finally appeared in the top of the freezer!! :j
I had a hot cross bun out of the freezer for brekkie.
I am on my own till after 10pm today so no idea what to eat for the rest of the day and freezers so full, it is hard to see what there is......
I need to write a stock list but my arthritic fingers dont work when they get cold, so I need help with that one.....I can write OR rummage, not both :rotfl:
DH took a peach and raspberry cobbler portion out of the freezer and a tin of cheapie custard (Asda filler item) from the stash, to have at work.
Have a good Sunday everyone......!!0 -
Have YS beef joint in slowcook for lunch sandwiches this week
Have made a mozzarella and sun dried tomato pasta all packed up in 5 tupperware pots for DS lunch
Hard boiling eggs for lunch sandwiches as I type!
Jelly made up in fridge for kids
Just decluttering fridge and cupboards and updating my very out of date stocklist. Gonna be very brave and empty freezer contents out and pray I can get it all back in!!!0 -

http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/5605/falafel-burgersmaybe sausage and mash (veggie sausages) on Tuesday (need gravy!!).
Saute 2 tbspn finely chopped onions and 2 minced/chopped garlic cloves in 3 tbpsn butter/margarine until golden brown. Reduce heat and add 3 tbpsn flour, stirring continuously to avoid lumps (you're making a roux, basically). Stir in 1 tsp Marmite/yeast extract to 1 cup / 250ml / 1/2 pint warm water until dissolved, and add to the roux - keep stirring, to avoid lumps. Warm through until it's the desired thickness (stir a bit more liquid or flour if it's too thick or runny), and season to taste.
- You can replace the Marmite/yeast extract with 2 tbpsn soy sauce.
- You can also add your own preferred herbs and spices; I use 1 tsp turmeric (for colour) and 1 tsp powdered mustard (for 'kick').
- You can use any left-over veg instead of onion - mushrooms, cooked potato, celery, etc - as long as it's chopped up nice and small.
- You can vary the quantities of veg, butter/margarine and flour depending on quantity, and how thick you like your gravy. My contribution for Veggie week - http://www.amuse-your-bouche.blogspot.co.uk/'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Was on the phone to my mother this morning and OH surprised me with breakfast in bed.. which included black pudding
I expressed concern and OH smirked and told me that when Ocado delivered the special offer Daylesford rolled shoulder of lamb, it looked so good he couldn't bear to consign it to the freezer so we've got it for dinner.
Translated from OHspeak what he really meant was that when he saw the lamb he thought, mmm cold roast lamb and piccalilli in my rolls on Monday..

Day 1 of veggie week is going o.k for me, finally had 7 hours sleep, so no headache! yay, got out of bed at 12, so had a veggie fry up, spicy 5 beans, green palntain, scrambled egg and wholemeal toast, really nice, i have some work to do so need to stay in, had forgotten that i needed onions and potatoes for the corn chowder, so have changed that to have tomorrow. insteads i am going to have a egg fried rice with corn spinach and green beans with a sweet chilli sauce which i have just madethis one is quite hot.
I have just put 2 chillis in the freezer, will they be alright?
Edwardia, its a shame you didnt get to complete, but enjoy the lamb, sounds yummy, so far i am not missing meat, not even with edwardia and lipsticks descriptions, simply because i am looking forward to dinner and making different things, i need cheese, potatoes and onions all on £2.80 eek, although i have seen chedder in mr w for £1.59 if i go to the market i can get some onions and pots for cheap lol.
In fact the website to do my work is down, so i'm off to lidl, still having the rice though, will ill be a nice walk, i have also taken out some nice duchy scones to have for dessert, replacing the fat from the meat lol.Lose 28lb 3/28lb
