Just had the fish pie with a quick cauliflower and brocolli cheese that I made for the boys with extra for us. Had it with steamed asparagus with black pepper. It was really lovely!!!

Just what I needed after my run (managed 6.3km in 39.5 mins) :).
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Just cooked this for tea - recommended :T There's enough for four full-size portions, or eight portions plus rice/couscous or whatever (so plenty left over to freeze later). Total cost about £2.75:j.

It's good isn't it! I usually do 7 portions and add rice or bread - Had never priced it up before but that makes a very cheap week of meals!

I used up another 400g of beans out the freezer today, made 12 burgers to go with the 14 yesterday... so plenty of bean burgers in the freezer now..

Used one of the hm bolognaise portions out the freezer tonight, boiled and mashed one large potato and turned it into a cottage pie. May have the same tomorrow.

Apart from condiments and drinks, my fridge is virtually empty. Need fresh fruit and veg.

    Dinner -

I think I am losing the plot. I was making a syrup cake - thought the mix was not right - no syrup added! I wasn't going to throw the mix away so instead of creaming sugar and syrup - I added it at the end of mixing. Well - it smells like syrup cake - see what it's like when I cut it.

got some of the 38p washing up liquid and noticed fairy dishwasher tabs 20 pack down to £2 not as good as the tesco glitch so left it. however, i think the are remerchandising the section as also noticed loads of reduced to clear labels in the next aisle. noticed asda rim blocks for toilets down to 27p from £1 odd plus a few things out of stock. couldn't see what everything was as it was the night fill and they had cages in the road so worth a lookout xx

    Morning all.

Ds is having strawberry bite size weetabix for breakfast, and he'll be stopping hot dinners. Not sure what I'm having for dinner. Maybe soup for me. Tea will be chicken I think, not really thought about it tbh, and it's the first thing that's come to my head, so will be subject to change.

Well it does seem a bit daft going to Mac D's when you're skint, but it was ds' treat for his hospital trip.

Hi chardonnay - What's this 38p washing up liquid?
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • Morning all!

Bearsinthewood - Hi and welcome!! You will get some support and loads of ideas here.

Jelly_biactol - OMG that all day breakfast looks amazing!! I am definitely going to make it.

Lip_stick - sorry about DS's hearing. My neighbours DD had to have a hearing aid when she was about 5 but she stopped needing it when she got older.

Edwardia - how did you find the WW programme on catch up? I couldn't find it at all.

donnajt - take care - depression is really awful (( ))

Lynsey - have you ever had AB gravy? I have to say that it is one of the rankest things I have ever tasted and one of the few things I have thrown out with only a bit used. I like the Bisto onion gravy granules, which are suitable for vegetarians.

Zafiro - brilliant weight loss :T
I am looking forward to veggie week! I don't like Quorn (or rather it doesn't like me - it makes me go all bloated and get pains in my stomach), but I will use Tesco soya mince which I like, plus I do like the Linda Mc sausages and the Tesco veggie burgers. I have also decided to make Boston Baked Beans in the slow cooker next week too. I found a veggie recipe on the net and they sound lovely. Only thing is I don't know where to get molasses, so do you think treacle would do?

Made pork "strogonoff" yesterday and it was lovely. DD only at about half though because it wasn't pizza or other rubbish. Today I am going to have poached egg for breakfast in a minute and lunch will be the little bit of pork left from last night and dinner might be that all day breakfast - I really fancy it but don't have any bacon but don't think that will matter! I have a savoy cabbage that needs to be used up today so will chuck some of that in.

DD won't get up for school again - it is driving me mad - I have tried everything and the school have been really supportive but she is missing loads of stuff. She is just really beligerent and refuses to get out of bed. She has had all of her technology confiscated, but that hasn't worked, so I have just rung her father and told him to get round here. He's as much use as a chocolate teapot but I am desperate.

    Have a good day everyone!
    Jane
