    Morning all.

Mrs_T_M - welcome to the thread and good luck. Well done on that low budget, must be loads of reduced stuff to sustain that?

Florenceem - welcome back and sorry to hear of the loss - take care.

Had toast for breakfast and cupcake with coffee. Took out some basics prawns and will have in vol au vents of a fried rice?
I fancy soup, so see how it goes. Still odd tins to get rid of, but will make some next week once I've bought some veg.

Not sure if I'll shop today, freezing here. No more snow yet, but expected!!

katskorner - I still haven't put back the empty freezer drawer yet. lol
That keeps me motivated, just need to find it a friend!!

Morning all, not been on in a few days as not been feeling great, phoned doctors back on Tuesday will see what they say.

Sorry for your loss Florenceem and welcome back.

I well everyone else has been eating out the freezers and cupboards this week which is good, i've not been eating much lost my appetite for the moment sure it will be back soon. The food plan today is brekkie toast, lunch pack lunches as normal for everyone else i probably wont have anything, dinner they are having pies, mash and veg i don't know what i'll have yet.

Katscorner, good luck with the party sure it will be fab.

The kids were off school a couple of days this week due to the snow and it's been snowing here since before 8.00 this morning so i am half expecting them to close the schools but will wait and see. We've got heaps of snow here now. The kids made the most of it when they were off, sledgeing the whole day when the are suppose to do school work but hey ho.

The girls room is a real mess again threatened no pocket money planing carrying it through and seriously giving them no pocket money maybe that'll get them moving, doesn't seem to bother them. I will venture into there room in a minute and get there washing which i noticed was all over the floor and the clean washing which was to be put away was on the floor gggrrrr, they are irritating me.

Right catch up later and take care everyone.

  • Hi All

Florenceem - welcome back! sorry about your MIL.

MRs_T_M hi and welcome - looks like you are very budget savvy! unlike me:o Hope you feel better soon.

Freezing here today, have been out to take DD to the doctors and then nipped into the little Tesco express and got some flour, as I want to make chicken casserole with dumplings in the SC for tonight's tea.

just trying - hope you feel better soon - did the doctor do any tests?

AM toying with the idea of doing an Ocado shop but I want to try and hang on until the beginning of February. DD was ranting on last night saying we have no food in - we do, just not the carp she likes to eat!! I am not going to buy rubbish just to please her though.

I made some cheese rissoles last night for veggie week. They were really easy and before I froze them I tasted one and it was really yummy. I just mixed some cold mashed potato with grated cheese (strong cheddar), white pepper, a couple of finely chopped spring onions and I made them into "cakes" and put into the fridge to firm up. Then after an hour or so I egged and breadcrumbed them and shallow fried them. They are now frozen and I will heat them in the oven when we have them for tea. I used Panko breadcrumbs which Sainsburys now sell and they are much better than regular - stuff goes mega crispy with them. At the moment they are £1.49 a tub but that isn't bad value for what you get.

Just waiting for my Linda McCartney sausages to cook in my new mini oven - I'm thrilled with it!

Hope you are all okay, and not too cold in this weather!!

  • Love the way everyone is embracing veggie week :)

Just got back from my first walk in over a week, decided to up the anti and walked 3.2 miles in total, I'm so pleased with.myself, I will probably end up walking to norwood as Kirri suggested and I scoffed at lol.

Had the last 2 fruit loaf slices with butter, I'm considering getting more, as it made me look forward to breakfasts with apple butter, where normally I just cant be bothered lol, going to have lunch now, 2 mini bagels and tomato cupa soup, dinner will be chicken bites, spiced 5 beans and the 2 rema mini bagels nice and easy.

Trying to make freezer space. Quickly as I want to get the last litre of gelato this weekend, also get some apples for Apple butter for.porridge as I have freebie milk that won't fit in the freezer, so needs using by 30th.

MNR - I did 2 hrs walking today, was hard work with all that ice on the pavements still!

Have you seen this site? It's great for calculating distance: http://walkit.com

Poundland was packed, biggest queue I've seen so went to Wilkos for bird seed. Took it to allotment along with half a 'gammon', an over ripe banana and some stilton rind. Filled fat balls up as well. The shed mouse had left a pile of empty sunflower seed shells :D So left another little pile for it. Managed to spend another tenner in Asda :( then went to H&Barrett to use my reward voucher.

Fruit bread toast for breakfast and lunch.
Had to have couple of the hm oat biscuits when I got back as exhausted..
Hm nut roast out the freezer for tonight with last of the broccoli.

Oh I did buy a whoopsie today but it was a bunch of daffs in Asda for 53p..

I have still only spent £1.90 this week - didn't need to shop today. Breakfast was custard with some home made fruit cake - need my calcium. Mid morning - cup of tea with 3 free biscuits - sent to us as a trial - have to email our thoughts on said biscuits. Lunch was a boiled egg with a slice of the bread I made last night plus a satsuma.
The loaf weighed 620g and I got 15 slices from it - cost of loaf - 45p. Yes - can get a loaf from Mr T - 50p but that is like eating soggy cardboard. Mr F had 2 slices of bread - 4 in fridge and 8 in freezer.
Tea break mid afternoon was a cuppa and a coconut/cherry muffin baked last night. Cost of 12 muffins - about 97p so 8-9p each. No preservatives, additives, colouring - just ingredients I know I used. I also think HM cakes are more filling. 10 muffins in freezer.

Dinner tonight - roast potatoes, cabbage, onion, gravy, chopped garlic in at end of cooking veggies plus HM mince pie.
I will need to spend tomorrow!
