I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

I did it in a very lazy, quick way! I just cooked the pasta and threw the broccoli in the same water for the last few mins (would be better steamed), drained both. Put both back in saucepan with heat off but ring still warm and added chopped pieces of stilton and a little oil to stop the pasta sticking and stirred it as it melted. Served with lots of black pepper.
The stilton works well with rocket, cherry toms and peppers in oil, less heavy dinner than the above, again no cooking apart from the pasta as I only add the toms/peppers as I'm melting the cheese so they are only lightly warmed and all done in one saucepanWondering what other things would work well in a pasta meal with Stilton?
Lynsey, that suits me, need to plan my fake-meat-free mealsFancy trying that tuscan bean stew JB posted, maybe a nut roast, some beanburgers - it could be a good starting point for me in relying less on the Quorn type foods in future.
You sound like you're enjoying the not shopping so much? Good to see! Almost reformed
Spend so far this year £59.12 of which £46.77 is on fruit and veg.
The only 'food' I've bought is butter, cheese, juice, pasta, peppercorns, hmm none of which were that essential as I had alternatives...
Thanks so much
Am going to give it a try

Morning all.
Internet is driving me nuts this morning. I'm close to throwing my computer out of the window! Phoned up the other day about it and thought it'd been fixed.. seems not.
Last night I ended up having chinese style pork ribs for tea. Today I'm doing slow cooked beef with veg and cous cous.
Thinking of ordering a veggie box. Costs more than the supermarket but will also stop me visiting them, so will save that way lol. Fancy being surprised too, and made to eat something a bit different.
Kirri - that stilton pasta sounds gorgeous, would love to try it with rocket! There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Morning all, Kirri that stilton pasta sounds amazing! I love rocket so on the menu plan for next week. Well my no spend plans until the weekend are out of the window as DS1 called last night to say he's bringing 'a friend'
with him for the weekend so will need to get some bits and pieces in. Least I'm still well within my monthly budget so not worried.
Cereal and toast for DS2 and I this morning, salad and yoghurt with me for lunch and dinner tonight is hm chicken curry and rice. Something else to score off my freezer list haha
Snow forecast here tomorrow so wee rain dance happening soon to keep it away. Take care all x0 -
Kirri - almost "reformed"?? Sounds like some dodgy supermarket processed stuff ...................sums me up perfectly.
Lynsey
Rofl ^ sounds like my gammon too, best take that out of the fridge before it develops mould.
We had light snow overnight. Couple of snowflakes still appearing on the forecast today but doubt will be much, loads already melted. Need to feed birds and buy more seed.
No idea how much Stilton costs in the supermarkets in general??? apart from Waitrose, but saw that M&S did a small sample size bit for £1.50 but was big enough for a couple of meals if anyone is going to try it and doesn't want to buy too much. Works better with the rocket, I felt too stuffed with the broccoli. The M&S peppers in sunflower oil are great in it, I was given some, the oil is lovely, great flavour.
Lipstick - I love the surprise element of veg boxes! Keep also faffing about trying one in winter as it's the only time of year I don't have enough growing. Ocado have an organic one on offer and Milk & More has a normal veg box on offer at the mo (or was the last time I looked) plus M&M keep offering a £5 off £10 spend. Riverford and Abel & Cole I've missed the cut off again this week and anyway both deliver on Fridays when the JC and WP keep bloody booking me in!0 -
Lip_Stick - no internet problems, have you cleared your cache??
We did have problems with the Windows updates but seems to have settles down.
We are doing a Groupon, but not an Italian. We're using up the cupcakes and coffees one. 2 cupcakes each and hubby will eat one at most - so at least 3 for me. lol
Foodbank donation around 2pm and then off for cakes.
Hubby is having the "oldest" salmon fillets and I'm having fish in batter (not great, but a space). We'l have with mini jacket potatoes and peas.
Coach holidays
Some offers HERE
Waiting until later on, but fancy either Scotland, North Wales or the English Riviera. Only been to the south coast once and that was Plymouth for the ferry!! London would be nice without a car. Price will be the decider and see what pops up.

I have some plain pasta, not sure what to do with that, need a meaty dish over the weekend.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Over the last couple of days, been slowly working my way through the HM freezer meals made from cupboard leftovers, so haven't had to buy much apart from some fresh fruit on Tuesday at Mr A. Oh, and a couple of Whoops loaves at 10p, so lunchtime sarnies sorted:)
@Kirri, thanks for the stilton pasta suggestions, the rocket option sounds yummy
@Lynsey, thanks for the Super 6 advance info, I've made a mental note to pop over to Aldi on Sunday'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Hi All,
Still cold here but above freezing. Still loads of snow and ice around and more forecast for tomorrow night. We shall see what happens.
Food today is not from freezer!!!
Got a huge bag of stirfry veg and a pack of prawns both reduced last night to silly money (23p and 75p) so OH and I are having that will sweet chilli sauce. I am making the my special version of tikka massala with the rest of the chicken breast, cauli, chickpeas, tomatoes and onions. They love it so it should go down well.
Nothing into freezer and NSD too. Some space is emerging. But only a little atm. Will try not to fill again so we have room to actually find stuff easier to be able to use it.
Tax return done and submitted - nothing to pay and small refund again (very small).
Just got to sort some other paperwork now (allotment response and car tax) by Thursday next week to get it out of the way and stay inside the deadlines!3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Afternoon all. Got my steak in the slow cooker, along with onion, carrot and red pepper. Added some bulgur wheat, should have added it later on I think, but it's looking and smelling nice, and since I've got two bags of the wheat to use up... I'll be popping it in the SC again lol.
Lynsey - The internet problem is something to do with the line or the box, I think, from what the tech guy was saying. I'm now plugged into a test socket which did the trick until this morning. Seems ok right now tho.
Kirri - you've just reminded me I should check the delivery date if I get a veg box. I order from Riverford, can't get Able & Cole. Have had loads of hassle with milk and more, and them charging me full price for offers so don't use them anymore.
Edit - need to buy skimmed milk and electric! There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Just had my last order of the month deliverd from Mr A that takes me to within £4.04p of my budget. Now to go and meal plan for Feb, a bit early but I'll have time to adjust it as I go along.
Just had hips xrayed!! They said they have seen better so I presume they were fuzzy
Breakfast plums
Lunch HM soup
Tea - not sure, prob something with pasta, or something on toast.
Freezer No 1 is coming along quite nicely, I can actually see a little space, but I've altered the way in which I am trying to work through all the freezers because one is just meat, another is meat, fish, HM veg and fruit, and the fourth one has a bit of everything in it. So I have decided to 'shop' in freezers 2,3,& 4 and not to replace anything when there is space. That means we can have variety in our diet as I will dip into the fruit and veg when needed, as well as the treats lurking there like crevettes - I just luv them to bits.0
