    Ooh good buy WP. Sounds a lot like mine!!!
    Had a lovely ham and tom sauce with pasta tonight. And I've got enough for 2 more portions so one for tomorrow and one for the freezer to add to my stock! Also made a huge pot of soup so hopefully get 7 portions out of that! X

    Evening all, NSD and cleaned most of the day.

    Welsh Poppy - have you seen the Aldi Super 6 for the next 2 x fortnights??
    Some great offers especially the carrots for 39p per kilo.

    jak - good luck with the £25 budget, great target especially with including cat food.

    It's so mild today here and we turned the heating off during the day.
    London area looks like it's in for decent temperatures this weekend - lucky lot!!

    Nothing planned as yet for tomorrow as hoping to do a Groupon. Approx 1/3 or another empty freezer drawer ........................... I'm on a roll. lol
    Veggie week should clear quite a bit also - bring it on!!

    Been snowing here most of the day but thawing faster!

    Went to Mr T for milk and got loads of reduced fruit and veg. Spent £4.78 and got about £50 worth of stuff.. liking that!

    Had finest salmon fishcakes with salad and fresh baguette for dinner. Kids had cod fishcakes wih mommy's mega mash - mash pots, root veg mash and cabbage that I mixed all together and it was lush!!!

    Possibly more snow yet then big thaw at weekend.. really weird weather!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

    ^ That mash sounds nice. I fancy cabbage and potato cakes now..

    Made 2 loaves of fruit bread, put 1 in the freezer. Had some for very late lunch. Will be breakfast for the next week.

    Had stilton and broccoli pasta tonight, very nice. Will have it again tomorrow as broccoli needs to be used up.

    What date is veggie week starting??

    Hopefully the first Sunday in Feb, the 3rd.

    katskorner - well done with those bargains - I love to see those.
    No real bargain hunting until April for myself, I'm determined to clear a freezer. Only 4 drawers and 2 and 2/3 drawers to go ............... not that I'm counting. ;)
    Saving loads though and my bank balance is healthy and credit card minimal. Saving loads on petrol as not gone out as much in Jan.
    Sorted the "fish drawer" today and found 2 packs of salmon fillets dated April and May 2012 - I'll get hubby to clear them soon. I have pork chops probably older than that though!!

    I also have a couple of packs of Tesco mini burgers. :eek:
    Should I use them?? Yes or "Neigh". :rotfl:

    I did it in a very lazy, quick way! I just cooked the pasta and threw the broccoli in the same water for the last few mins (would be better steamed), drained both. Put both back in saucepan with heat off but ring still warm and added chopped pieces of stilton and a little oil to stop the pasta sticking and stirred it as it melted. Served with lots of black pepper.

    The stilton works well with rocket, cherry toms and peppers in oil, less heavy dinner than the above, again no cooking apart from the pasta as I only add the toms/peppers as I'm melting the cheese so they are only lightly warmed and all done in one saucepan :D Wondering what other things would work well in a pasta meal with Stilton?

    Lynsey, that suits me, need to plan my fake-meat-free meals :D Fancy trying that tuscan bean stew JB posted, maybe a nut roast, some beanburgers - it could be a good starting point for me in relying less on the Quorn type foods in future.

    You sound like you're enjoying the not shopping so much? Good to see! Almost reformed :D

    Spend so far this year £59.12 of which £46.77 is on fruit and veg.
    The only 'food' I've bought is butter, cheese, juice, pasta, peppercorns, hmm none of which were that essential as I had alternatives...

    No I have not seen what the super 6 are in the next 2 weeks but carrots are good price.
    I know I will be shopping more at Aldi and Lidl's

    Not sure yet what will come out of freezer as OH has chicken in cheese sauce in fridge so will use that up today.
    I will have Beetroot and Goats cheese roast with new potatoes.

    Morning all, just a dusting of snow which has marred my clean paths!! lol

    Welsh Poppy - Super 6 as below (thanks to Teahfc)
    Sunday 27th Jan.

    Savoy Cabbage
    Lemons x 3
    Mild Onions x 3
    Broccoli x 350gms (Subject to weather in Spain being ok as its very cold in Broccoli main area at moment and prices high).
    Beetroot 500gms
    Carrots 1 kilo

    All 39p

    ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
    Sunday 10th Feb
    Garlic 3 pack
    Cucumber
    Chestnut mushroom
    Kiwi x 8
    Pineapple
    Mango
    ALL 59P
    Lots to play about with for the next month and no need to pay more than above unless you can't get to an Aldi.
    Hopefully Lidl will have cheap veg also (potatoes would be nice).
    Just toast for myself for breakfast and boiled eggs and "soldiers" for hubby.
    Kirri - almost "reformed"?? Sounds like some dodgy supermarket processed stuff ...................sums me up perfectly.
