Thanks :D I love that fleece one and hmm I could give them the cover and keep the inner to use with my own cover.

zafiro - was unfortunately an out of hours vet that caused the rip off prices :(

Re the veggie thing, I ordered tofu stir fry in a Chinese restaurant in Austria, saw some suspicious bits in it, asked them what it was, they had little English.. owners whole family gathered round to discuss and then proudly announced 'pig' had to leave it for my friend to eat.. I've had some nightmares travelling..

    Banana/toast for breakfast

Going to put some fruit bread in the breadmaker for lunch. May nip and feed the birds while it's rising later. Seem to have had a lot of snow melt over night :(

    Dinner - stilton pasta again.
Edwardia, I accidentally picked up the non org Cropwell Bishop stilton btw and it doesn't taste half as good as the organic one, I am a bit surprised there is a taste difference, doesn't have as much flavour.

There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

    Snow melting here also. :j
Loads of slush though. Would it be ok to put the slush in a glass and add some syrup?? :money:

NSD easily completed yesterday and possible one today, we'll see.

Toasted hot cross buns for breakfast and took haddock out for hubby. Pasta bake to finish for myself. I think hubby is getting rid of the frozen garlic mussels also - so another wee space.

Jane - My hubby's Nana used to be a veggie as she stated but did eat boiled ham!! That didn't count apparently!!

Welsh Poppy - up very early for a walk, enjoy. I saw a site last year which had loads of cheap coach deals (last minute offers) and will search today. Might be too early to search for an April deal yet though??

Sorting out the foodbank boxes for tomorrow.

EDIT: Got NO bird seed left, last went yesterday and desperate for that. Might bake them some more bread.

I was really pleased earlier because I got a mini oven - a delonghi one - 1400 watts, in Debenhams blue cross sale - reduced from £149.99 to £60 with free delivery. It will stop me getting a halogen oven and hopefully save on my electricity usage as my oven seems to be permanently on!
    ....

I bought a cookworks mini oven a couple of years ago and haven't regretted it one minute, it makes fabulous cakes as well as the usual stuff. There's only the two of us so it's a huge saving on the electric. I haven't used my big range cooker in the last twelve months, it's sparkly clean.:rotfl: Just use the mini oven and one attached to the woodburner - that's free as we use our own wood. My daughter has followed in my footsteps and says the same.
  • completely off topic but she told me the other week that her OH had got Sweeney Todd on DVD - I told her she wouldn't like it but she said "Oh I used to love it on telly with John Thaw" I told her that it was Sweeney Todd a mad barber who was killing people and cooking them and she said "Oh I see.... and are the Sweeney after him?"

    That's priceless :rotfl:
But I would watch a programme like that :)

Hi everyone, still no snow here (I'm whisphering in case I tempt fate:)). Spag bol and garlic bread for dinner last night and I took out lentil soup for work today so that is one drawer empty!! DS2 is having the last portion of stew tonight freeing up another wee nook and will use up the remaining potatoes. I fancy an omelette and have some ham and tomatoes that I could add.

Still not spent anything this week and if I jiggle things a wee bit should be ok until Friday when my new grocery budget starts and DS1 comes home for the weekend.

Loving all the tips and of course the chat, I have pictures of you all in my head!!!

Well ive done my aldi shop and spent all the rest of my budget! However, I got tons of stuff so im all set for the rest of the month and should only have to buy 1, 4pt of milk as we've got quite a lot left thank goodness. I also made a start for veggie week and got enough cheap veg to make soup to freeze. My freezer is full of homemade veg stews and bit and bobs. It's all scrummy and has saved me a fortune. We had homemade pizza last night with the last of the strong bread flour but I'm not replacing that until next months shopping budget. Has leftover veg noodle and salad for lunch. It was really nice and filling!
Next months shopping budget: £25 a week. Thats for my son, myself and 2 cats. This doesn't include any toiletries or stuff like clingfilm. It is purely for food. X

  • Hi all - it's freezing here today - trying really hard to snow again so I think it will probably succeed!

am in work this afternoon so put a bolognaise in the slow cooker before I left for tonight's dinner - got mince and mushrooms out of the freezer and used up half a jar of ragu and half a jar of tomato soup out of the fridge.

jak - it always amazes me how much stuff you get for your money in aldi. I don't do all my shopping there but do like their tea bags, coffee, jams, fruit and veg and chicken.

well better get back to work!
