Biscuitmad - thanks - I thought may be new thing as I have been awol.
recovering spendaholic - I get crumbs - dog has them in her bowl. She always comes into the kitchen when I am cutting bread. Mr F offers to cut the bread but I prefer to do it. ;)

    Deleted_User - in the breadmaker.
Since last night - into the freezer has gone - 10 muffins and 8 slices of bread. Out - some sausages and gammon. Not doing well here - still no space.
    Dinner.
We had roast potatoes, cabbage, onion, chopped garlic, gravy and HM mince pie. In the pie was celery, onions, garlic - lots - can you tell - we like garlic! I used 3 chillies that were lurking in the fridge so the pie had a kick. This pie was the Desperate Dan size one I made last week - 12 portions for approx £3.50. So 30p a meal for one - so we have had a pretty good eating time today.

smegcat, christ that was a long op he had..

JB thanks for that link, like the find the path bit! It's so hard to work out where you are supposed to go sometimes when on those country paths.

I use the walkit website to see if I can get to certain supermarkets on foot - want to go to Sainsbury's for something on offer but says it's 2.9 miles each way...

Lipstick - yes, very expensive ones at that!

Sounds like a bit of a stressful day all round with DS and the falling food, lucky you had the ex round for a lovely dinner eh ;)

    Florenceem - loving the pics!

Just seen the snow up North on the tv, jealous, we're just due rain :(

I had the hm nut roast and did stir fried broccoli and mushroom to go with it. Might start on the bolognaise tomorrow evening - need to free up some space so I can get to the beans in the freezer as I'd best start trying to turn them into burgers..

Evening all, snowed most of the day then started raining tonight.

Smegcat best wishes for a quick recovery for your oh, and best wishes to you to.

Lip_stick, who got the bigger fright you or him !??!, looks like you'll be up early tomorrow now. None of mine have managed that, though if they did the staff would probably run the other way.

Went to tesco earlier had to get some yoghurts, milk and little bits, got a bunch of flowers reduced to 10p from £7.50 bargain, gave them to neighbour as she's down as hubby away in hospital just now. (Didn't let on they were only 10p). It's the thought that counts.

Catch up tomorrow, stay warm and safe everyone x.

There's still some left so I think I'll get OH to bake some bread and I'll have a bash at making garlic butter (can't be too hard!) :D

    Hi all,

Smegcat, best wishes to you both and a speedy recovery for your oh

Jelly Biactol, I'm going to try that cake in a mug. May put it in a dish as it's the microwave bit I'm interested in.

Just added up freezer space-embarresed to say, freezer one and two each have 315ltrs freezer three has 535ltrs and freezer four has 175ltrs. Total 1345ltrs. I think I have enough contents to last an awful long time. Sorry folks but it looks like I shall be posting most of this year.

Think I need to have a look at my food budget for Feb and tone it down a bit, but I still need fresh veg and fruit and some basics.

Going to spend most of today on admin. The VAT beckons.
Snow hasn't quite disappeared, it looks horrible underfoot, very slippy and icy, hoping for more rain.
  • Morning all
Florenceem - yep there is a grocery challenge on the old style board, I am trying to stick to £1200 for the year so an average of £100 p/m for 2 , but as you will see from my sig have spent LOADS already!!

However- I did a little count up last night and reckon we can do at least 40 meals (including breakfast and lunches - with leftovers) out of what we have in , may need to top up slightly on milk/fruit etc..

The question - could I go 40 days without setting foot in a supermarket....

    Probably not :rotfl:

but it would be another challenge for the books!! ...

Not decided whats for dinner today , probably something easy , either curry or pie and veg from the freezer- tomorrow probably whichever of those we dont have today then Monday Ill make something like a pasta bake to last a couple of days!

Stay warm to all those in the snow! :)

Morning all, another few inches of snow ................ that'll need clearing. Sun is out though!!

smegcat - that was a long op, wishes to your hubby.

Wishes to all not well or with injuries (Lip_Stick) and special wishes to just trying - hope all goes well.

Not too sure what to do regarding food today. We were going to do another Groupon and see what roads are like later. More than likely just eat something out of the freezer or what I buy today.
Off to Lidl for Brother and might buy a dozen UHT milk for foodbank (they are short on that). Aldi for veg and hopefully that's it for today.

Spent £1.43 last night all on "whoopsies" from Sainsbury's:
    3 x blackberries
    2 x grapefruit
    1 x lettuce
    1 x pack of rocket
    1 x loaf (froze 2 x packs of 4 slices)
2 x Thornton's trio mini choc caramel shortbread thingy's - ate them as 25th best by date. lol

Quite a bit for the money and I'll get some tomatoes to have a salad - well hubby will have a salad and hopefully start on the last pack of Black Forest ham.

I need a few things next week, spread and maybe butter and bits and pieces. Not buying until I see how this months budget pans out. I expect to spend around £5 - £7 today, mainly on veg and eggs.

2013 food spends = £39.69 - almost £20 to get to and including next Thursday.

zafiro1984 - hubby was just talking yesterday about submitting the tax forms asap in April/May - he normally leaves it until December and "flaps". lol

    Stay warm.

Morning all. Feeling really tired, mainly due to ds' sleep being out of sync and him keeping me up half the night. My own fault!!! Was funny though when he was laid in my bed looking at a suitcase on the wardrobe saying 'mam, that suitcase looks like it's got eyes.... I don't like it.'. :D

Don't know what I'm going to do today, was thinking cinema but it's too late for that now. Might just be a lazy day. Could make the jam tarts I've been meaning to do.

Not sure about meals at all. Should have got something out the freezer for tea yesterday really.

Ah yes the budget! ... well.... as you can see Im not doing brilliantly at sticking to the title of the thread!! :rotfl:
Some of it has been buying lots more fresh fruit and veg (not from market/ald* super six so serves me right really!) as trying to be on a health kick of sorts, and some of it has just been supermarkets (not at whoopsie time) !

haha... don't worry about it, you're making my spending look good! All adds up though when buying fresh fruit and veg, not much in the way of good offers a lot of the time.... so... have a mars bar!
LOL lipstick why do you do this? Ex fiery sausages.

I feel sorry for your ds even though It's his own fault, but he didnt get his sweets poor thing.

I might lol with you if I was talking about limp chipolatas. :p

Yes, it was his own fault. He has to learn somehow and if it saves me 50p... I'm all for it. :D Mind you, does make me a bit sad when he says 'I'm not your best friend anymore.' awwwwwwwwww :(

Don't know if you've heard of it, but there's a product called megazorb, it can be used instead of sawdust. It's dust free which is good for my rats. It costs me £7.50 for a massive sack of it and lasts ages. I've got a decent sized rat cage and I've used two sacks of it in a year, so might be worth you looking out for if you're not using it already.

Oh and yes, my day was quite stressful.... was much less so when the ex LEFT! :p
Lip_stick, who got the bigger fright you or him !??!, looks like you'll be up early tomorrow now. None of mine have managed that, though if they did the staff would probably run the other way.

Him probably... but by the sounds of it the member of staff must have taken him to customer services straight after seeing him, as I couldn't have been more than a minute behind him! Mind you, there was the other time I didn't realise he was lost and I found him at cs lol. :o

I think you win.... if you got rid of most of your freezers, you'd have enough room for another stable!

Jelly Biactol - That mug cake is a fab idea! Will definitely make that with ds, should be fun.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
