Morning all, snow again and sounded like hail blasting the windows during the night. Hubby wants it to snow hard so he doesn't have to go to work. lol

Morning all. Wake up you lazy lot!

Ds' dad will be popping over

Coffee in bed my dear, coffee in bed. :D
Cosy ....................... 3 weeks on Thursday until Valentine's Day. ;)

Just toast for breakfast and tomorrows pasta bake is simmering away.
    Pork casserole for lunch.

Off to Morries for Brother and I'll have a look, but only for reduced stuff. I do need bread though and see what's on offer. I really want to wait until tomorrow (desperate for a NSD, lol), but the weather is predicted to get worse up here!!

    Stay warm.

  • Morning all!

    Daniellenic87 - hi and welcome!

it's snowing hard here this morning - looks like it is in for the day.

justrying - good luck at the Doctors.

Just had two boiled eggs with Weight Watchers bread toasted for breakfast. Lunch will be tomato soup and dinner will be fishcakes. I have two pieces of salmon left over from last night's dinner and some mashed potato, so will make some salmon fishcakes and we can have them with some oven chips and hm mushy peas.

I did an ocado shop last night but am thinking of cancelling it because I really do have a lot of food in still, and I could get the milk we might need from the little Tesco round the corner.

Has anyone ever made hm boston baked beans? I have loads of dried beans (Pinto and canellini) and fancy making some. I think I will have a look on the net and see if I can find a good recipe.

Have a good day everyone and take care on the ice.

That is no excuse to go shopping! Stay in and then if it snows you might make 2 x NSD 's in a row :p

NSD sort of, as far as choice goes, but have follow up vet appt later so that will no doubt be yet more £, due for more snow as well, can't risk the car as it will never get up the ungritted uphill road at the vets even if I could slide it out of the car park here and public transport in chaos so going to be an effort.

Bit annoyed, had someone due out for flat repairs but they've cancelled due to the weather  it might have taken them longer but it's not as though I'm in the middle of nowhere and for a business I find it a bit pathetic they didn't try and get here, that delays things yet another week.

Was up at 6.30 administering meds so I'm tired and as I had early breakfast I'm already ready for lunch!! Don't fancy the v/gammon sandwich again but not sure what else I could have. Fancy cheese and tomato on toast, does stilton work? I only have vegan cheese apart from that..

Dinner - fancy stilton, rocket, tomato and pepper pasta.

Morning all, snowed in the night, OH working from home today. Am highly relieved Ocado delivered last night as we now have food and more loo rolls.

John Lewis order turned up, which included some detox tea for stressed OH. The New Year's resolution of buying less from supermarkets and trying new places is going well so far.

Do I count the day I order, the day card charged (if I know it) or the day it arrives as the shopping day for NSD purposes please ?

I'm never going to be able to really YS hunt like y'all but I'm getting better at hunting out organic food for less money and buying stuff on offer. I saved over £11 on offers with my last Ocado order.

Hope you're all well and warm and families also xx

Kirri the pasta sounds good, not sure about Stilton on toast :D
  • Snow day today :D so I'm at home.
Should be a nsd today as I can't get out:D I left my car at school on Friday, we'd all gone in as it was clear in the morning, we closed at 11am as the roads were getting bad and the buses were starting to stop. I hate driving on snow so came home with a friend who had her OH's big audi. DH is going to have to pop into shops on way home as we're out of the only brand of food that the spoilt little girl cat will eat, we have loads of ordinary. A great big stray cat has gradually been making his home with us and I'm pleased that he's asleep on the sofa opposite in the warm, our two boy cats are on this sofa with me and all the girl cats are on the bed upstairs. :D
I've been very good about shopping so far this month, I've been taking the next packet of meat out the freezer and that's what we use. Pork hock on Friday, spicy sausage pizza on Saturday and belly pork last night. I've got a packet of stewing lamb (I think) out for tonight so will have to think of something to do with that.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

  • Morning all.

Bought a fruit loaf yesterday, just had 2 slices with apple butter for breakfast yummy, will take out 2 mini bagels and have that with a cup a soup for lunch 2 and a half packets left, I need some spread or butter. Leftovers from today for lunch.

Will be popping out, so will get freebie milk, more veg that's all I need really.

Hi everyone, well I've been in bed with a really nasty sickness bug since Thursday, not pleasant at all. Thankfully DS2 knows his way around the kitchen and has coped admirably on cereal, toast, soup, toast and oh yes, more toast! And the good wee soul kept me hydrated with cups of tea and bottles of water:)

Back at work today and I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof, if it's going to snow I wish it would hurry up and do it! Hate driving in it, especially as I live at the top of a hill so I either have to brace myself to go up it or hold my breath as I slide down.

Have taken lentil soup and veggie pizza from the freezer for dinner tonight and a pound of mince that was lurking at the back and was thinking of making spag bol for tomorrow which will mean a good few portions going back in for next month. My monthly budget ends on Friday and I've £90 left and hopefully no need to spend anything between now and then, yippee! Can't believe I've spent so much less and got more food/meals to boot! This thread is fantastic and keeps you so motivated.

Off to read back and catch up with a coffee x

Bought a Morries farmhouse loaf, so blew it. 60p spent and told hubby to get some milk tonight so we can have a NSD tomorrow. Told him to grab any decent fruit and veg bargains and he's allowed double cream if it's reduced. :D

Make sure you eat the "gammon" and give the cheese and tomato on toast to the foxes. :rotfl:

Good luck at the vets though.

Had pork casserole and opened Terry's Orange .............................. hope Terry doesn't mind. lol

Just pottering and feeding the birds and hubby cleared drive and paths again.

OH is working from home, which means I'm getting mugs of tea :D

blackandwhitebunny - lots of cats but do you have any bunnies ?

kirri - good luck at the vets x

Abel & Cole en route yay so I will get milk and eggs :T Otherwise poor husband would have to trudge in snow to Sainsbury's or Lidl to find organic milk.

Breakfast was non organic fried eggs from local shop :( with black pudding (offer, have stash in freezer) and chestnut mushrooms from organic veg box (offer).

Lunch was Higgidy pie (OH) and quiche (me) from freezer with leeks, carrots and frozen peas.

Dinner will be stew using bones from freezer for stock (1.99 for 1kg, Laverstoke Park farm, from Abel & Cole) with veg from veg box (20% off at Ocado)

Hi everyone, making an interesting dinner tonight to try and get rid of some random items (tortilla chips, tin chicken soup, salsa) - Mexican Dorito Casserole - looked hideous when it went into the oven, hopefully it will be delish!
