Went sainsburys thursday to pick up some bits went with my Mother!

needed a few fresh bits, Bread, butter, milk, cat food, frozen chicken bits, cheese.

My mum was "most proud" when I'm studying the prices on food, It rubbed off on her by trying the "cheaper cakes" to the branded stuff. She called to say not only did I save a few pounds these taste better!.

She next month is going to try the freezer/meal planner way and see how much she spends. Trouble is she works in the Co-op so she is faced with food all day long.

I brought a bag of sweets as my treat:p but eat them in the van on way home.

BTW random but...... Kings Lynn Sainsburys 1.36 Derv, Sainsburys thetford (30 miles away) 1.41

So I tanked up the van to save a bit of $$

Morning all, loads and loads of snow yesterday, at least 6"!!
Can't remember the last time I had 6" .......................... of snow. lol

cm509 - welcome and more "lurkers" welcome to post. Good luck and keep posting.

Did spend yesterday on some "whoopsies", but only £1.26 on a gammon and parsley sauce ready meal for 59p, and cakes and bread. Birds have had bread already, hubby cleared an area for them early on ................... mad, but they seem to appreciate his efforts.
We have the drive and paths to clear and see how it is, but looks like it's thawing. Need to go to Lidl, Aldi and M&S (pick up order), so fingers crossed - not snowing at the minute, well apart from some specks. We'll leave it until lunch-time.

Probably steak, onions and chips tonight if I find the steaks.

Stay warm, even if making snowmen and having snowball fights. lol

2013 food spends = £29.29 ....................but will grow today.

Morning all, no fresh snow here Ooop North but what we've got looks very pretty. Might pop out in a minute to sweep the path, to warm up before brekkie (thickly sliced toast and Xmas-pressie jam).

Plan to walk to the Post Office later, and need to restock my herbs and spices cupboard to will visit the Asian supermarket to check out prices to see if they're cheaper online:)

Also might make a big batch of veggie chilli, for tea, and freeze the rest.

Oh, and I bought a replacement printer (bargain, £3.20 on ebay) so may set that up later.

    cm509 - welcome:wave:

Welcome to another South Londoner, cm509 :D The only one who managed to empty the freezer last year, well done!

Was snowing a bit overnight but only about a few inches on the ground, want more :(

Today, breakfast is a banana, had no bread left for toast. Woken up unusually starving, maybe due to the cold?
Lunch - not sure yet, half thinking late breakfast for lunch - garlic mushrooms and fried egg with the fresh hm bread which is currently in the breadmaker.
Dinner - again no idea, should really cook the xmas vegan gammon with pineapple and allotment potatoes which are starting to sprout but still hard so just about ok. Bit of a retro meal..

Made another batch of the biscuits sandwiched together with the out of date Whole Earth choc hazelnut spread as fancied something sweet last night.

we practically doubled decembers food budget which told hubby is normal.

I'm just using up old plain flour in the bread-maker. 500g flour, approx 300ml water and 7g packet of dried yeast - the birds seem to like it and added bird seed for a twist this time.
Just put out some warm bread ...................... no butter on though, they're spoilt enough. :D

Right today I'm going out for lunch so that's NOT coming out of the food budget. For tea, I've got a little steak so im going to have that with eggs and butternut squash mash and beans. A bit random but it needs eating up and I don't fancy the noodles I was going to have with it. No breakfast for me, unless you count buckets of tea! X

    Hi All,
Even I am feeding the birds today, DH cleared a space with the tractor yesterday near the front door. Just thrown half of a 20kg bag of mixed corn out for them. Robins by the bucket full, a couple of jays, various varieties of tits, bull finches by the score, thrushes, starlings, pheasants, partridges, pigeons (have hidden DH keys to GC). Think they appreciate it. May have to feed them hen food tomorrow, cheaper but based on wheat. Do birds eat oats? - have literally tons of that

Sort out what we are eating later as I've loads of washing to do
