I have just done a full inventory of the food in my cupboards and freezer. I have quite a few things past their best before date, including 3 bags of bread flour. I am hoping that by checking my inventory I will not be buying things in 2013 that I don't need.

Weirdly I was thinking about this while cleaning out my pantry. Mr.Kitty is a *** for saying he doesn't have tomato soup etc but just cleaning out, he has 6 cans of it. Not pleased. Also I think the inventory will help me meal plan as well.

Due to the famous MSE cold that is doing the rounds, I can not taste anything. Crumpets for breakfast and fish finger sandwich for tea. Just made my first thing in the slow cooker -- coconut rice pudding! :T It's delicious! :T

I really feel for you quintwins. I usually shake things off really quickly but not this time

I have had a sore throat/glands since Christmas day and am finding swallowing really painful. Will try to get to see the doctor tomorrow but not very hopeful. I've only been able to sleep using really strong painkillers and have kept off them during the day.

Wanted to get out to the shops today to get something to help sooth my throat but didn't feel well enough to go out.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.

quintwins - you really are suffering and sounds awful. Hope you and others suffering recover very quickly.
    I won't moan again when I get the sniffles ([STRIKE]I will though[/STRIKE]).

Popped to Lidl and bought just 2 packs of bacon @ £1.14 each - £2.28 spent there.
    Tesco - bought bread buns @ 65p and reduced mushrooms @ 58p - £1.23 spent.
£3.51 on the day and could well be last of the year??
Though I might have a look tomorrow for bargains.

    Foodbank stuff - 12 tins value rice pudding @ 12p each (£1.44) and 6 tins of Baxter's soup @ 3 for £2 (used 6 x 50p coupons, so only £1 for 6) - £2.44 foodbank spend.

Just had bacon and egg sandwich and finished off mince pies and M&S cake. Half-made pasta bake, but leaving for tomorrow and will just snack on cheese, crisps and crackers etc.

Last day of the year for spends tomorrow. :j :j
Looking forward to putting my calendar and notebook away and no more tallying. :D
Next year, I think I'll do the odd frugal £10 week or a £60 month etc, but January will be a cheap month.

What is peppermint and choclate bark? it sounds yummy

WelshPoppy, I basically melted both dark and white chocolate. Once melted, I poured them out onto parchment paper and sprinkled on crushed candy canes. Then I let them dry and broke the large chunk apart into pieces. It was a hit with the hostess at my dinner!

    Hi to everyone else too!
I'm afraid the sickness has struck here. My bf started feeling poorly yesterday (as did I), and we're full on sick now. I did manage to make hm turkey noodle soup last night using frozen turkey steaks from my freezer, chicken cubes, bendy carrots, and broken up spaghetti pieces, all from my cupboard. With a bit of bread, it went down nice and tasted even better.

We've been sticking close to home, and I'm trying to still cook, no matter how I feel.

Tonight, we're having porkchops from the freezer flavored with salt, pepper, garlic, and dijon mustard. I'm baking them over a packet of stuffing mix, which I added a bit of apple juice to. I'm also making roasted potatoes from a few spuds that were going to be bad soon. We'll have some tinned peas to go along-everything from the fridge, freezer, and cupboard.

Hope everyone has a lovely night!

I had planned to make ham & pea soup today. Once the gammon was defrosted OH decided he was going to use that for tonights' dinner so instead I have made pea soup that I will freeze as work lunch portions.

Happy New Year to you all. For those of you who are not feeling well at the moment I wish you all a speedy recovery.

Morning all and really hope all are well.

Skipping breakfast and having bacon sandwich for lunch and pasta bake tonight.
Taking out leg of lamb for tomorrow, so good space there. There are 3 or 4 things I want used up and that'll create and empty drawers worth.
Off to Morries to do Brother's shooping and may have a wee peep.

I'll bore you later with the final analysis tonight (sorry), but I'm both excited and pleased. Sad also of and end of an era.

    Catch up later.

Hi everyone, you are all inspiring me so much. Since my first post a few days ago I've only spent £4.85 in Lidl on some pizzas, milk, eggs, bread and doughnuts for hollow-legged DS2:) Cleared quite a few meals from the fridge and freezer. We're staying with family tomorrow and Wednesday so no cooking - or buying yippee!!

Think I've caught the bugs going around, sinuses very sore. I won't get the chance to be online again now until later in the week so I wish you all health, wealth and happiness in 2013.
    Take care x
