I have that i usually buy the cheapest of everythig but i swear by the vicks version and because i only need it when i'm ill i don't bregrudge £5 a bottle it usually lasts me about a year, hubby refused to try it for years and now he has when he's sick he used a whole bottle a week, again i don't bregrudge him, the dr offered me a script for the generic one but i said no, anyway it's not helping at all i think because the sores are open now maybe?supersally01 wrote: »So sorry you are so unwell,
I too had this bug over Xmas, and it laid me very low. Please try to eat something, even drink milk or suck an ice cube. I ate nothing, took brufen like sweeties, then had a sick feeling tummy for 3 days!
And I should know better! Being a nurse!
Take care, hope all who are sick are keeping warm.
Sally.
I managed some soup and 2 slices of very fresh soft bread that my hubby nipped to the shop for now my throat is killing me even more and is bleeding as much as this morning where as it had calmed down but atleast i've eaten something and don't have to think about food now til the moring, the tablets i took are making me seriously hot i'm acually sweating hubby thinks i'm alergic but they are helping my ears abit and if this is the only side effect i'll keep taking them and mention it to teh chemist on monday.
Thank you for your concern, i had a wee sleep but that didn't help either nothing seems to really be helping, i took some penicillian at 4 so i'll take some more in abit and climb into bed.DEC GC £463.67/£450

ah quintwins that is horrible that you are feeling so ill! There are some mega-bugs around this year. I had a month before Christmas where my kids were ill back-to-back and it meant I turned nursy mommy and never went out! They are all ok now. OH got sick too and luckily I managed to avoid it. Please take care.
Just trying - how is your daughter now? Not seen and update for a but but did scan read the last three days... Hope she is OK.
Well UPDATE - I DID get the turkey! On Christmas Eve a 4.8kg fresh one for... wait for it....a fiver!!! But by then it was too late for Crimbo as I had a frozen one already defrosting and so it is in the freezer for Easter! lol..... Plus they gave us loads of FREE bread. Only wish I had another freezer as I could have easily filled it with the bread they were giving away. Got 5 loaves (inc new Fruit n fibre bread) and have eaten two already.
Tonight went to Mr S and got 2 packs wild Keta salmon reduced from £3 to 74p, 5 packs sausages reduced from £2 sommat to 49p and an extra special pack from £3 to 74p wrapped in bacon.. plus some deli ham bits all reduced too. Oh went nuts and freezer very full. Whoops.....3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Hi Katskorner, took her to the docs, checked her blood sugars they think she might have had a viral infection she was recovering from. She seems a bit better, she said to keep an eye on her for another 2 weeks. Thanks for asking.0

I refused to buy food & drink at Uni which everyone laughed at me for, but no offence, £3.80 for a jacket potato and then £1 for a drink? Everyday? for 5 days? No I don't think so! I treated myself to a little lunchbox, tupperware & thermos for Uni and it was the best thing I did. I just bought a mini thermos for soup from Amazon; it was £10 but I know it will benefit in the long run!
My friends think it's funny (but in a good way) i'm always so prepared when we go on outings, i bring the kids wee lunches, i have loads of special k mini breaks thats cost me 5p each so i bring them, sandwichs which usually only cost around 10-15p and some fruit which again usually costs about 10p, maybe a yogurt at 8p then a sports bottle of water, but that means there lunch costs me less than 40p compared to £3.25 it normally costs in the soft play area or £2.30 for a happymeal, I'm not keen on pack lunch myself but i usually eat before we go then i can wait i'll bring a bag of crisps and a sukie (4 for £1 in poundland or 90p for one in the soft play area)katskorner wrote: »ah quintwins that is horrible that you are feeling so ill! Morning all.
Bought the milk yesterday, hoping for a £3 till spit .................. but only got a 400 points one!!
Thinking of leaving Lidl until tomorrow, don't think I've ever been on a Sunday before. Only want the bacon and bit for Brother. If I'm passing later I may look in, but not too fussed.
Actually refused "whoopsies" last night - chicken stuff and prawns. lol
Pate on toast and mopping up bits I need rid of. I had to freeze some cheese as over-bought!!
Jellybaby - (great username), welcome to the thread and good luck. Nice that you're "excited" about the challenge.
quintwins - sounds really nasty what you are suffering with. Hope you get well very quickly.
just trying - hope your daughter is OK also and not suffering too much.
katskorner - cheap turkey AND free bread!! You are well looked after. lol
Got more bargains from another M&S Outlet yesterday - they've had quite a bit of my Xmas money. I'll have to try and stay away!!
Matalan sale wasn't very good, not for what I wanted anyway. They are supposed to be reducing stuff later, so may try next week.
Hubby wanted Levi stuff, but only 30% off stuff he fancied.
Waiting for Debenham's "Blue Cross Sale".

Hi all!
I've been catching up on all of the posts I've missed. Since my bf got here from the States, we've been busy. I've been trying to reign in on spending, even when he's here. I made beef stew the day (had to end up purchasing beef at full price as I had looked for days beforehand for sales, to find none) he got here, and then we went to a friend's for a lovely Christmas meal. For the meal, I took gingerbread cake and peppermint white and dark chocolate bark, all home made and from ingredients I had already on hand. We had a meal out yesterday, as friends of mine came to visit from France, and we were so tired from the long day of walking that we went to Sainsbury's for BOGO pizzas. I'm going to try and get more out of my freezer for us to eat the rest of the time he's here!
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!~Steph~0 -
Morning all
Get well soon to all those feeling under the weather - was laid low with a cold/flu type thing before xmas and not nice at all!
Have been doing ok - no shopping since my xmas eve haul :rotfl: mostly we have eaten out though since then so very little cooking either! Had crisps and cheese and fruit for dinner last night (after 4 days of roast dinners!)
Cereal for breakfast today, with soup/rolls for lunch and a curry (reduced in MrTs to over half price) and rice for tonight methinks!
Soup again for lunches for forseeable future until I have room in the freezer to fit in some frozen veg and then I reckon apart from milk and bread (and some sandwich fillings ) we are sorted for food until hopefully end of Jan!
I think I have developed the shopping bug rather than the "using-up" bug - so need to curb that!0 -
Morning all.
Having duck soup for the 3rd meal running lol. Might as well use it up and don't fancy cooking. Going to asda later to buy bread and pop. Not sure I can fit anything else in the freezer at the mo. Got a couple of things to pick up from mam's, like sausage meat, that I'm hoping she hasn't binned.
Welcome to the thread Jellybaby. Hope you do well at grabbing the bargains and making best use of what you've got, so you don't feel the hit of losing the money so much.
quintwins - sounds like you have what I have, only worse. Taking the advice of the person who said about ibroprofen and paracetamol which seems to be helping. Think I could do with some night nurse tonight as it felt like I didn't sleep at all last night. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Hi y'all get well soon everyone.. I second Chloraseptic but the Merocaine lozenges are good too.
Ocado order arrived today - no subs, nothing missing, nothing damaged, on time as usual and it was Tony in the strawberry van (I suspect the names aren't real as I've had some strangely named blokes before eg Jesus in the cucumber van).
Gail's Bread was on offer so I got two artisanal pain de mie tiger top loaves 2 for £5 and stashed one in freezer for OH to have another weekend as a treat. He works hard and lurves bread so he deserves them.
Also picked up Total yogurt 500g on offer 2 for £4 for my mother and the Yeo Valley 500g one for me as well 2 for 2.50 and Yeo Valley sour cream for only 99p. From the reduced to clear section I picked up Christmas baubles 50% off 1.49 and also 50% off salted roasted pistachios 350g 2.39
Grumme Gron Sopa is a green Swedish floor soap much used in Scandinavia as a general purpose cleaner. One capful (10ml) does 10 litres of water so it should last ages. On offer at Ocado (and their price cheaper than Totally Swedish) and I fancied the smell of pine in the house.0 -
