Hi all I'm really ill I have a ear/throat infection, the dr I managed to see first thing agreed that I had one but said he wouldn't give me any antibiotics until I've had it a week and to phone on Monday if I'm still bad :( I was up all night with it.

I took the first dr's appointment I could get as the hard to come by, bundled the kids into the car and got hubby to take them to mcds for breakfast so far from frugal :( tbh I'm in so much pain I don't care I've been in bed from 2 also the tablets the dr gave me are likely to make my asthma bad so it's gonna be a fun few days.

quintwins sorry to hear you're so unwell. Docs are really stingy with antibiotics now because the bugs are getting more and more resistant to them :(

When my father had a serious infection he ended up on a central IV line in his chest for 6 weeks in hospital and bored out of his skull but it was the only way to pump enough of the antibiotics into him to fight it.

That's why they don't want to hand them out but that does mean you'll suffer some which is horrid for you (((quintwins))) xxx

Lynsey - my mother went to Sainsbury's today because she did have withdrawal symptoms :D

I know edwardia it's just annoying when you actually need them, I hardly ever take antibiotics , I do have to say the painkillers he gave me are finally taking the edge off.

Oh and hubby made chips and chicken from the freezer for his and the kids tea :)

    Evening all.

NSD as been in all day. Had a fun afternoon butchering the duck... not. Did ok though, got some nice cuts of meat, rendered the fat off the spare skin, and the carcass is in the slow cooker to make a soup for tomorrow. Need to add some shitake mushrooms that have been stashed for forever in a cupboard.

Will probably be a lazy day tomorrow too, just so I don't spend anything lol.

quintwins - hope you're feeling much better soon! x

    I've been Money Tipped!
Morning all, just cake (M&S) and coffee for breakfast. lol
Out for lunch in an hour and another look in the shops. No food spends planned as I have just enough milk to last until tomorrow and I'll get from Lidl.

quintwins - sorry to hear you suffering, hope you get that cleared up quickly. Take care.

gailey - lovely to see you posting. £3500 is big (ouch!!). Stockpiling the reductions will help - good luck in 2013.

    Afternoon all... just.

Really annoyed! Finally felt I was getting over my cold yesterday morning. Had an attack of the sneezes in the afternoon, and after that just went downhill. Feel 10 times worse lol. Damn thing. Just gunna laze about today.

Made the duck soup which I've just had some of. Ds doesn't like it, so I've got a load to stash lol. Not sure about tea. Ds' dad is coming over (I think) after a change of plan, and he said about bringing some steak over.

Yes and I really wasn't expecting it to be more expensive! I missed everything the first few weeks, really hated it but then not sure what happened but I stopped missing things as much. Cheese and butter are the things I like most or omelette... I've been using agave syrup, a low GI organic syrup which works like honey on parsnips though I did buy it to go in a dessert.

Edwardia - rescue guinea pigs here but would love house rabbits if I get a bigger place! Most I've had is 6 gpigs or was it more?? had up to 5 of my own and 3 foster ones at times before but they ate SO much. I literally can't chop a vegetable without getting squeaked at here. Not sure I'd trust a dog totally but labs are normally not as bad as other breeds? Used to have a dog who ate carrots but only out of jealousy of the guinea pigs..

I do miss being Vegan as I did feel good but I was very tired a lot of the time. I was only veggie up until a few months ago, I eat ham, sausages and chicken. Once again, only ate meat as I felt exhausted and was eating terribly. Do you get called a fussy eater? I do & it drives me mad!

I have a house bunny in my 2 bedroom flat! I also have two kittens! :rotfl: They actually get along quite well... sometimes. Plus Joey the Bunny eats a lot of the salad which I forget to eat.

Decided to wander to ASDA last night to stock up my pantry on christmas biscuits. Our ASDA reduced Cadbury Wishes to 12p, so couldn't resist! Also got some boxes of malteasers, snowmen, minstrels. With this haul & the chocolate santa gave us, we have no need to buy anymore chocolate! :T Also bought some reduced leek & potatoes... in which I made my own soup with the new blender MummyKitty got me for Christmas! Everyone, it tastes AMAZING. Made about 6 batches. Really pleased.

Was naughty & went to Morrisons today; I start work in a month and I won't be paid until the end of March so I'm stocking up on pantry things. Managed to get a load of Chicken Pasta Pots; they are 50p each again but when they lady blipped them, they were coming through at BOGOF? Bargain! These are awesome for night shifts.

Good afternoon everyone, I would like to join you all:) I'm a long time lurker to this thread and feel I know you all! The time has come to tighten my belt - and not just by a notch or two! I've been widowed nearly two years now and have two teenagers, one at uni who is only home once a month and holiday breaks and the youngest is in final year of secondary school. DS2 will be 18 in the summer and as well as the child benefit coming to an end, the widowed parents allowance I receive for him will also end, therefore a huge chunk of income will be lost.

So in preparation for this I've joined the grocery challenge thread but realise it's not only the amount I spend I need to cut but how I shop. My cupboards and freezers are fit to bursting as I'm still buying and cooking for four when there's only DS2 and I! I've been keeping a note of what I spend on food at work and am shocked!

I'm on holiday until 7th January so I plan to inventory all cupboards and freezers, work out meals for the next week or so (babysteps with this one as I always get bored with it) and start to look at what's on offer in the shops. Luckily I have all the biggies within easy driving distance and I just love Lidls and Aldis!!

I'm really getting quite excited about how much I can save and bagging those bargains!

    .

They are so reluctant to give out antibiotics now. What are you taking? I always recommend to patients plenty of fluids for your sore throat, take ibrobrufen to reduce your swelling and gargle&swallow with fizzy paracetmol. Get well soon!!!
