Yes, seems like there will always be the same amount of bargains and reduced stuff so even to have an empty freezer and shop weekly probably wouldn't be that hard.

Bonus for hol for him though - good time for deals to cold places too.

Get it in your sig re the freezer ;) I would say race you but I've got so many beans in my freezer I'm not sure I will be able to eat them day in day out by then without dying of food boredom.

just trying, pleased to read that DD had a virus not diabetes - you must be relieved !

I have far more food left over than I figured, we'll be eating buffet style for some days I think. Abel & Cole organic baked chocolate cheesecake is the most choclatey cheesecake I ever had (only had a tiny sliver though). None of the cheese was touched so baked Camembert in the box looks likely :D

Re: parsnips... brush on some runny honey before roasting ;)

Freezer looks almost empty, just a few bones for stock, butter and YS Stilton nabbed ages ago for leek and Stilton soup. :j

Cupboard is groaning with unopened Branston, mayo etc but it won't go to waste and some can go with OH on 2nd Jan to replenish his fridge at work.

For breakfast I had a sliver of cheesecake plus org dble cream and sugar free Jello instant chocolate pudding :rotfl:We're having cooked brunch later of eggs, Black pud and pigs in blankets.

Have a great day everyone xxx

  • Thank you Edwardia, the doctor said she thinks she's recovering from a viral infection though she has had no signs of having a viral infection, she said to keep an eye on her for another 2 weeks. Thank you everyone else for your kind words and concern it's appreciated. It's been a quiet day here oldest daughter got me to order her a couple of bits of the internet with her christmas money and not much else. I have no plans tomorrow so far, off to have a cup of tea and see what's on the tv. Catch up tomorrow.
  • I've enjoyed reading Lynsey's posts so much I'm going to do an annual budget of £2000, this will include everything except meals out but they will be limited.
  • Morning

A little space is apearing in freezer and I am hoping more while apearing over the coming months.

My budget for 2012 was £1500 and I appear to be on target but we were 3 adults now DS moved out end of August I need to downgrade budget a little.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.
Sad day as Son is going home around 12'ish ................... but I'll get my house back to normal!!
We've packed loads of stuff (food, toiletries, laundry) for him to take and save him and girlfriend pennies and TBH hardly a dent in stash!! Far, far too much stuff and foodbank will get a decent start to the year in a few weeks.
Just had toast and I think we're using a Groupon later (if we can get booked), so just snacking if we get lucky.
NSD yesterday, so £51.02 to last for 5 days now and I really only need 4 pints of milk, but want to buy the bacon from Lidl on Saturday.

Excellent and good luck, more to buy for than just the 2 of us. But you've had some great bargains of late - long may it continue.
I would love to see actual cost v true value - hope you manage to keep track.
Starting with a good stash really helps budget and being frugal in the 1st quarter takes extra pressure off.

Great year spend for 3 adults. :T

Might look in shops for sale stuff later and maybe the M&S Outlet, but hoping for another NSD foodwise - milk tomorrow.

  • Definitely going to start doing this now for 2013. My lovely mum bought me a slow cooker & smoothie maker for Christmas, so lots of casseroles & soups coming up. Plus, I did a big shop for christmas & family bought us loads of food, biscuits & sweeties... so my freezer is nice & full.

Today is going to be using up the last of the turkey & mash! & of course, turkey sandwiches. Found some goose fat roast potatoes lurking in the back of my fridge (how did I miss those?)... the date says 25/12 but do you guys think they will be okay until tomorrow...?
Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt! :D:D

Kitty_Ears, goose fat keeps for months in the fridge, as long as the spuds look/smell OK should be fine - besides which they are probably packaged in a protective gas to stop them going brown, anyway.
