I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Edwardia, yes that's what I'm thinking, as I don't have the ingredients here it could cost more to make nice things and I'm a bit concerned about time as well now  Think it will be all I can do to get to the shops, clean the place and get the washing done!
I've additionally got £15 in JL/Waitrose vouchers but doubt I can get over to either of those in time tomorrow or £15 Love2Shop vouchers so could make use of those to get things too.
Has anyone seen the yard of Cadbury Fingers in the shops??
Welsh Poppy - I wish I had your talent, those things sound amazing! I love the idea of making things and I do cook/bake a lot but what you've done is a level above me, very impressive!
Lipstick - hamper was all the sort of extra bits, stilton, cheddar truckle (no idea how to extract the cheese, never had one before!), chutney, oatcakes, chocs, truffles, fudge, 2 bottles of fizzy stuff, olives, mince pies, a fantastic win as it really cheered me up0 -
ms_night_ryder I do hope that you are ok. I really feel for you with the stuff that is happening. Stick on here and we will try and cheer you up
.
Just trying - please take her to the docs and get her checked out as that doesn't sound right. Poor love must be feeling rubbish. I do hope that she (AND you) are OK.
Well the turkey WAS epic fail - told you didn't I? Might get one tomorrow but that is too late and if I do it will go in the freezer until Easter! Time was going on and too many other staff working for me to get the usual level of deal so had to get a frozen turkey instead. Ended up with larger than intended as price bracket went from 7kg to 8.8kg so naturally wanted value for money and got the biggest I could find at 8.6kg..... plenty of turkey-related meals coming on!! lol.
Visiting butcher tomorrow (took his crimbo card and choccy coins today) in hope of serious bargains to fill freezer to max again in anticipation of emptying it from January - if I can get stuff dirt cheap then I fully intend to!
Lynsey - the only way you could ever blow the budget is if Lidl do choccy deals every other weekend cos we all know how you love a little nibble now and again.
Tomorrow is baby bubs 4th birthday. School next year - boo hoo - I want him to stay small!
Merry Christmas all of my freezer challenge friends!! Here is to 2013! xx3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Hey kat, thanks, I'm fine now, saw my family yesterday and they cheered me up, now looking forward to christmas again and rearranged direct debits
bonus of delayed pay is, that i will now get paid every week in January for various things i have done.
I stuck to what I said i was going to do, chicken and rice, enough for lunch.tomorrow, then heading to my grandmas, I'm not going to bother going to Mr s or mr t like i did last year, will got to Mr w though. Went to Mr w today and got 2 chicken breasts I. Ginger and 4 piri chicken thighs both from their easy cook range for £2.79 also got welchs grape juice x 2, so along with the chicken I got today I have x3 bags of portioned chicken drumsticks, 2 pork in parmesan escalopes, 4 cod mornay and a pack of pancetta, so meat drawer is being replenished slowly, wilk not be getting any more chicken whoopsies, will not be actively seeking them out over the holidays either.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Thank you Katskorner and long tall sally, i was thinking about trying to get her a doctors appointment tomorrow to just get it checked, her auntie has really bad diabetes and has had it since she was a child so i was keeping a very close eye on her, she went to school but i asked her last week to stay at home as i know her and i know she's not right. She's the one out of my 3 when she's really ill she'll say she's fine. She's only 9 but she's really gentle natured if you know what i mean. I had a friend who took her daughter with the same symptoms and the doctor said she was fine done no tests this went on for months( she was a teenager) we thought it was a puberty thing, next she was rushed to hospital blue and put in the high dependancy turned out she was diabetic, it was really scarey serious. Maybe i wrote tonight just needing reassurance, that i am not a "neurotic mum" she never goes to the doctor. I think you have just confirmed my thoughts somethings not right. I know some kids are tired at the end of term but for her to fall asleep within minutes of getting home is not normal for her !!. Thank you very much to you both xx.0

Morning all.
just trying - good luck and obviously get that checked. I could tell a few stories of mis-diagnosis!!
Having an easy day. Need to tidy and sort a few things and then cook soup. Prepare veg tonight and need to take pork out (small joint) soon.
I want more mince pies and cream, but could live without. I might get hubby to pick up bits, but don't want to go for "whoopsies" ..................... strange eh??

^ Not even tempted for a late dash round the shops Lynsey?!
Round 1 over. I went to Morrisons at 8am and walked straight out, queues were already down the aisles, !!!!!!! Went to Asda instead, straight to a till. Some people had huge amounts of food, even with a big family they must be overbuying.
Just home for breakfast and will walk back to town for dreaded present shopping...
Then if I have the energy I may travel to another smaller/quieter town later this afternoon and go into M&S/Waitrose for the salad and Ecover. Not really going for the reduced items as I have what I need and anything else would probably get wasted.
A painful day for someone who hates shopping... (maybe I will do the present shopping earlier next year).0 -
just trying - I would suggest taking DD to chemist they can test for diabetes there for free or GP/walk-in centre and tell them about her aunt. If DD is skinny not fat then she could have Type 1 which is serious but if she's obese then that could be Type 2 which is now being seen in toddlers. I hope for her sake it's just a virus xx
Abel & Cole delivered this morning - got everything, nothing damaged very happy
All we need do now is more cleaning and roast the beef and venison to have cold tomorrow.
Kirri - er yeah Christmas Eve is a bit last minute, it'll be an initiative test0 -
^ Not even tempted for a late dash round the shops Lynsey?!
No, not tempted at all Kirri, more interested in coming in at under £1200.
Thinking back and too late now, but I wonder if I could have come in at under £1000 if I had cleared even 1 freezer??
Can't complain though, I've had a good year, no a great year and I would love to know the full value of the food bought?? Yes, my spends may be under £1200, but we haven't lived on only £1200 worth of food for the year, £1200'ish is only what I've spend ................. if that makes sense.
I would recommend anyone doing an annual challenge to keep a full price v actual spend total .................. if you have the time.
Sadly, I'll never find out as I'll not be doing it again, but would imagine food value to be over £2500 thanks to reduced items and the [STRIKE]ab[/STRIKE]use of coupons.
Sadly as discussed with Cherrypies (Merry Xmas) earlier in the year, some have to live a lot harder than my challenge day in and day out and I fully appreciate the effort. God bless you all.
Pork out and veg being roasted for soup now. Need to find the sausage meat and almost sorted for today.
It's beginning to look a lot like Xmas ........................... a frugal one. lol
There's been a few old posters missing of late - Xmas greetings to you all if you are looking in.
***Update: Soup made and nice, so that is a relief!!
Found sausage meat at umpteenth attempt and Son looedk as I was searching one drawer and said, "God, is that your meat drawer??" (full of mostly pork chops).
"Only 1 of them", I replied. lol
