  • Thanks everyone, got an appointment this afternoon was within the normal limits for blood sugar level. Edwardia she is slim, no where near obese, the doctor thinks she may have had a viral infection and is still recovering from that but said to keep an eye on her for the next 2 weeks. Lynsey i know personally about doctors misdiagnosing things they do make mistakes. I didn't cook anything today oh done all the cooking. Merry Christmas all x.
  • merry xmas everyone xx

Hope it's enjoyable for you all,.already had some gifts, home made.granola, a.scarf and a picture, wine glass and stopper, took a leftover nandos chicken, straight in the freezer, didn't manage.to eat chicken and rice so that will also need to go in freezer.

Hope today goes okay and well done on the comp wins!! :) Xmas is hard when youre skint, and I know how lucky we are to be fairly ok moneywise now ... fingers crossed work sorts out in Jan!

just trying hope your daughter is ok and you managed to get seen at the GP - I thought diabetes too from what you wrote- definitely worth getting checked out!

Thought of you all yesterday as I "bargain hunted" through xmas eve! £38 spent and mostly on nice quality meat/fish from MrW and a few ready meal type things (75p-£1.20) in MrT's. Not as cheap as they could have been , but well over half to 3/4 of the price they usually are, so pleased with that!

May have gone slightly OTT so not actually enough room in the freezer- so taking a few bits today to add to xmas day dinner! ;)

Will certainly be sticking to the title of this thread come 2013 as literally no room in the house to do anything else!

Have a good day all :xmastree:

Morning all, hope all went well yesterday.
Only one small issue, slightly burnt the roast parsnips!! But the day went well and relaxed.
BTW - the turkey breast joint (Just Cook) from Sainsbury's was really nice and very moist (basted well though). Quite a bit of meat for 3 of us with the pork and more meat left than wanted.
So the frugal Xmas went well overall. A little freezer space now and enough even space to pop in a bottle of wine to quickly chill which I forgot to put in the chiller!!

I had a NSD yesterday. lol

Meat left over will be done in blue cheese sauce with roast veg. Son has one nut and date roast cutlet thing to use up. So nothing needed today either foodwise, but will pop out "Bargain Hunting" and see what the "Sales" offer.

    Hope all are well.

Hi all... just popped on to wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope you've all being enjoying the festivities!

Managed to get a few bargains Christmas eve from Asda, some prices were better than others but if I'd left it any later there wouldn't have been anything left anyway. Bought some party food that was cheap but still well within date, to take to mams. Didn't get any sausage meat so disappointed with that, but will keep looking. Have an extra special duck that should be quartered today. Don't fancy doing that lol. Also need to pop to the supermarket to buy someone's pressie that I forgot. :o

Deleted_User - your bargain hunting experience sounds pretty much like mine, especially the filled freezer part!

Kirri well done on another win, and the hamper you won sounds lovely! Most I've won lately is a squeezy bottle of jalapeno relish, which doesn't look exactly appetising.

Lynsey - my mum burnt the parsnips a little bit, but I thought they were nice. A nice caramalised flavour to them lol.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Lynsey - meant to say would have been brilliant if you'd eaten a bit out of one freezer and come in under 1k. I've yet to add up my last week's spends... not planning on spending any more on food this year unless I see a sprout stalk reduced.

Lipstick - think I tried to win some jalapeno relish!! (Discovery comp?). I won some long life ready made couscous the other week, was so horrible I gave in and put it in the bin.

    Thanks - Deleted_User :)

I can't bear the thought of going to any shops at all - not even dressed yet. Can't believe the food shops needed to open today. I've got to try and portion up some of the fresh items and squeeze into the freezer later. Got plenty of varied stuff for Jan, maybe I can go through Jan with only buying fruit and veg??

Sadly too late and could have been achieved. I concentrated too much on grabbing bargains as I was terrified of over-spending!!
I did forget to stop and should have calmed down around July at the latest. With hindsight, I could have easily picked up bargains as needed ...................... but a learning curve I suppose??

But well under planned budget and out of the £300 saved - £100 is for foodbank stuff and we are thinking of giving Son and girlfriend the other £200 as he's toying with a trip to Berlin (or elsewhere). He's got a quiet January as everyone he's connected with in the industry takes a break. So good time to take a "cold" break!! I told him to look at the Canaries for some warmth, but they both still have their "student heads" on and prefer the arts etc.

But Kirri, I will get that freezer cleared before the end of March ........................ could be another cheap year ahead. :money:
