Hi all... anyone getting excited? I am! Still got pressies to wrap though, mostly for ds.
Ds is with his dad today, so I had sardines on toast for dinner. Not sure about tea. Maybe pasta or something. Need to tidy ds' room as it's a right mess from his cousins staying over. Also need to tidy everywhere else lol.
Won't be going anywhere at all until tomorrow afternoon, when it's off to mam's for takeaway, with a brief stop at Asda on the way, on the lookout for whoopsies.
Kirri what did you get in your hamper? There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

Afternoon all, windy up here but at least the rain has stopped!!
Only spent £1 on 4 pints of milk, so now £57.11 left and 8 days to go. Sorry, but I'll be counting down the days. lol
Kirri - really hope you get sorted, but reading suggestions I think making things as pressies is actually a nice touch. Wish I could make what Welsh Poppy has managed - well done there.
Just had toasted fruit loaf and mince pies with cream.
Need to sort out something for tomorrow, but will make the soup (roast veg soup) and may have some of that to make sure it's OK for Xmas day. If not, it'll be carrot and coriander again!!
ms_night_ryder - I think I'll do a "sealed pot challenge" next year and may join the thread when I find it. lol
Lip_Stick - excited?? I bet your little one is on a high.

Kirri, when I was in Lidl on Friday they had cute potted Christmas trees for 9.99 so maybe you can get one reduced ? They also had those crates of clementines but I don't remember how much they were sorry. The organic carrots were £1 for 750g but lots had splits in.
Making stuff is great if you have all the ingredients but could be more expensive if you have to buy them specially ? Having said that Holland & Barrett is still doing the last few days of Buy One Get One Half Price.
Present for a bloke.. how about either a reduced price cheeseboard or just some small special offer cheeses plus a jar of Branston (69p Lidl or if that offer has ended, £1 at Co-op I think Sainsbos as well). Sainsbury's has Hayward's piccalilli £1 and Morrisons has Hayward'a traditional pickled onions £1. I've also seen offers on Carr's table water biscuits. You might be lucky and get cheeses, Branston, piccalilli and Carr's for a fiver.
For a family.. back to Lidl as they had poinsettias for £4 and panettone and pandoros. One year my mother did an in case you forgot them package of piccalilli, stuffing, custard powder, gravy powder and Alka Seltzer for friends and that would cost £5 or less as you could get everything but the piccalilli from Poundland. Poundland has 170g Toblerone for £1 (99p at 99p Stores) and Wilkinson 400g Toblerone for 4.98
99p Stores has tomato growing kits for 99p as well as ladies' pink gardening gloves for 99p and flying sky lanterns for 99p too.0 -
NSD for me but I did dispatch OH to Morrisons. He got the last special purchase whole Gressingham duck for £10 (to have on New Year's Day) and several bottles of the half price Borges organic Extra Virgin olive oil 500ml for 2.34. He went to Blockbuster to rent DVDs for tonight but couldn't find anything so just got popcorn.
Stuff starting to come out of freezer :jwild alaskan salmon fillets for dinner (offer),venison shank (offer), organic beef roasting joint (offer), organic Irish and Scottish smoked salmon (offer). Looks like it'll be empty by New Year's Day0 -

Evening all. NSD today as I've not ventured out. Decided to make mushroom pasta bake with philly for tea which has just gone in the oven. Bit late I know. Will save half of it for dinner tomorrow as I always find pasta bake done with philly better when it's cold.
Finished all the wrapping except for his main big pressie. Will do that last thing tomorrow night as it's stashed in the shed, and I've no where to put it in house, without it being spotted.
Tomorrow will be takeaway for tea at mam's. Looking forward to that!
Lynsey - yes he's very excited! About the same as me lol. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Evening all, not posted in a while as my youngest dd hasn't been well/right since the 17th. She has been really tired/lathargic, thirsty. She said to me i am sleeping alot as i want Santa to come quicker !! but i know there's something not right with her she is normally very energetic and doesn't sleep until she goes to bed even then she doesn't go straight to sleep, hopefully she will perk up a bit. Anyway i have been eating out the freezer but being puting a few bits in for Christmas. Only got 3 more pressies to wrap yeah, i am normally still wraping on Christmas eve. We've had all the rain and flooding the roads are like rivers. Will check in later or tomorrow. Stay warm everyone.0

Hi I'm normally a lurker not a poaster on this thread although I read it most days but Just Trying I just wanted to say to keep an eye on your daughter as my 11 year old son is diabetic and when he was diagnosed 10 years ago (exactly to this day as it happens!) they were his original symptons and then he started loosing weight & then being violently sick. Do you have anyone with diabetes in your family or is there anyone you know who could lend you their blood glucose monitor so that you could check her sugar levels?
Sorry it's probably not diabetes & I don't mean to alarm you but just something to be aware of.
