I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Morning all, a very windy and wet day here!! Woken at 5am with the rain lashing at the windows!!
Lip_Stick - hope that cold doesn't linger - take care.
Toasted tea-cakes for breakfast and I may have to sort some food out as planned day out may be on hold - I'll give it an hour or so to see if it's worth venturing out or to stay in and keep warm.
Hubby's having boil-in the-bag kippers, so only myself to sort out.
You may have noticed (lol), that I change my mind a lot. Well, we've decided (definite if in stock) to stay frugal to the end and have decided our Xmas meat will be a Sainsbury's Just Cook turkey joint to go with the small pork joint. I'll buy the turkey joint, chicken crown and gammon joint on offer @ 3 for £10 and use some till spits to reduce the spends with other shopping.
I'll use that leg of lamb on New Years day.
Early elevenses I think and see what happens weather-wise.

Ha, Lynsey I do the SAME thing!
Lip_Stick, I hope you feel better!
Today, it's VERY rainy here so I'm staying in. Cleaning, organizing, and sorting will be my duties.
I had cornflakes for breakfast.
I'll have some sort of leftovers for both lunch and tea since I have so much to eat up!
It will be either pasta with cream tomato sauce, black eyed peas, or leftover stir fry!~Steph~0 -
Hi,
Is it safe to eat food that has been in the freezer for months? I have a lot of meat in the freezer that I have forgotton about, some with dates going back to April and maybe even some before that! Will i get poorly if i eat them? Obviously I will defrost and cook thoroughly but just wondering.....
Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldnt wade through all 377 pages!0 -
Has someone done a summary? I didn't fancy reading all 377 pages!
To reduce food budget sum up: shop at Aldi and Lidl with whoopsies after 9pm? & coupons from everywhere else.
With buying whoopsies is there a price per lb/kg guide that you should never pass up?
Is that right? With meal planning and writing lists.
Is there anything I have missed?
As always cutting back not cutting out.0 -
Well we just kinda chat away on here sort of like the MSE version of one of those daytime shows..
Lip_Stick feel better soon ! Lynsey you have the money saving bug there
My tips for eating organic as cheaply as poss.. avoid TescoBut seriously I'm getting better here.. Yeo Valley butter is 11p cheaper than Tesco at Abel & Cole, Daylesford organic chicken legs at Ocado are 50p cheaper than Sainsbury's and miles better and I've started bulk buying cleaning stuff etc at Shorters Club to spend more money on food.

well, they have the turkeys in and butcher chum in tomorrow but can't see how he can blag this one. Watch this space. Could be epic fail!!
freezer has gone down this week but not as much as last week due to abundance of party food and a couple of YS meals (ok I know i didn't need to but life sometimes calls for it..) but we aren't doing too bad.
Whichever way the turkey arrives now it won't be needing to go via the freezer!! So I guess I made it! lol. (although I best not cluck too loud yet as it isn't even here yet.... )

Morning all. Feeling a bit tired, so much to do but can't be bothered! Need to head out to shops to get a few treats as I'm having my nieces over for the night. Dreading it! lol
Will be burgers, chips and beans for tea, as they can be a bit fussy. Also need to look out for Trex for making pastry. Had a go at making pastry the other day and it came out rubbish so trying a different recipe.
ms_night_ryder - sorry to hear you won't get paid, things like that can put a real dampener on your spirits eh.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
