Kirri - worth checking Tesco for the bird seed as it was supposed to be half-price (I think). We get my MIL a 20kg bag from a little local DIY shop for £9 or £9.50 and that's just gone up recently. I would buy the Tesco one all the time at half-price, but the Poundland one isn't too bad really for a small bag. I'm sure they were giving out the £3 off £13 spend not long ago, so that would help.
The problem is with a big bag is hubby will be feeding them several times a day - he tells me he likes birds.

I wonder how many Tesco's have it in stock, I only go to Tesco about once a year as I hate it so much but I'd make the effort at that price! I've never seen it that price in any shop, best deal I found was a local horse feed place where I go to get small pet feed/hay etc, they had it about £8 but not seen it since. I've had a few offers online from specialist suppliers that have nice feed - I thought it was all much the same tasting until the birds decided they liked the bird feed I'd got online and weren't so fussed on the Wilkos own brand!!

Thanks for welcome, glad you found some ink today..hehehe
the tins of Salmon are 213g which seem okay price(i am a vegetarian and don't eat them)

Where can I find all these coupons you guys are talking about? We love the heinz 5 beans but too expensive at 85p a tin.

I went To morrisons to get the 3 meats for £10, used my Welch voucher altough they kicked up a fuss saying they no longer accept internet vouchers due to fake one!! so i told a little white lie and said I rang store to check they took them after 10 minutes and manager called it went through you do have to stick to your guns and know your rights.
OH was in the queue he had voucher different cashier and she scanned in no probs and he got £2.59 off his juice which was £1.39.

Yesterday had mystery from freezer (knew it was either ,chicken chasseur or sausage casserole, must be vigilant with labeling) turned out to be the chicken, it was delicious with polenta, really enjoying that lately.

Today made a load of goosefat roasted potatoes, wedges and mashed potato portions, from potatoes I had and the bag I bought cheap yesterday. In freezer for later use .

Having the reduced garlic potatoes with 1 of the steaks ,bought yesterday reduced ,and making garlic mushrooms ,another reduced purchase yesterday.

By the way used the Tesco pricechecker yesterday as coffee cheaper elsewhere, but because I bought reduced items my overall shop was cheaper. So if buying goods to pricecheck don`t put any reduced through on same receipt.
Do I need it or just want it.

Whilst wading through piles of vegan tofu stir fries, I finally got the frozen ginger out and used it tonight, was perfectly ok if a little icy! Was supposed to be used by Sept 11. Also had some sliced beans from last year's harvest, also fine! Also using up some dregs of mango chutney to sweeten the stir fry.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.

Only got to Sainsbury's yesterday and used some coupons to get my shop down.

    Bought:
    4 x Heinz 5 Beanz @ 2 for £1.50 = £3
    2 x Packs Wiltshire ham (half-price!) @ £1.44 = £2.88
    Welch's Grape Juice (half-price) @ £1.29
Small sesame bloomer (reduced) @ 47p
    Sub total = £7.64
    Coupons used - 4 x Heinz (scanned 85p), Welch's (scanned £2.59) - minus £5.99
    Total £1.65

I had a ham sandwich yesterday and TBH, the Morries counter ham is far better value - the use of coupons made this bearable!!

Just snacked yesterday really and had toast with coffee so far.
Shopping for Brother today, but I need only milk and might get that tonight in Sainsbury's to use a few Heinz coupons (last day for them).

Probably ham sandwich again later and snack again as out most of the day. Back on track tomorrow!!

Kirri - yes, seed merchants could be value and around £8 per 20kg bag of bird seed, though prices have gone up quite a bit.

Welsh Poppy - you've missed the boat with the Heinz coupon, sadly it ends today. For future, when pdf coupons are available, save them to your pc.

pamsdish - yes, you need to be crafty when using price guarantees/price matches and put all the higher items through together separately. My spends don't allow me to use this promotion, though have had the odd Brands Match coupon when using coupons and getting the spend over £20 in Sainsbury's.

  • Morning all, well kids are better, ds didn't go to school yesterday as still wasn't right but got up this morning fine and out the door for 8.00 with packets of tissues, money and his lunch. The girls never really complained like him !!. No plans today as very rarely go to the shops during the week, mind you i have no need to as my freezer and cupboards are still quite full, i can see a difference and i am saving i would guess £50 a week which goes towards other things and savings plus the kids pocket money went up. Well the meal plan today is had toast and tea earlier, lunch i don't know maybe snack and dinner is going to be sausages, pasta and garlic bread simple as oh has dentist(got one eventually) and even though it's his first appointment hoping he may get some treatment as his cap is lose but he can't manage to pull it out and is scared of swallowing it. Catch up later have a nice day all.
  • Morning all

Beginning to use up things again, had last 2 slices of wholemeal bread for breakfast, took last roll that I froze (over a month ago) out of the freezer to have at some point before the weekend.
Last two tortilla wraps for lunch today, will have with dairylea, also will make a large salad to last the rest of the week for lunches and accompaniment to dinners.
Took out one portion of cod & chip ready meal to have tonight after work, and the last portion of mozz & tomato pasta bake for tomorrow.

Planning to cook on Thursday night - DM is having the last chicken breast in the freezer in a sandwich, and I will be having the final portion of potato wedges from freezer with a burger patty, (which were on reduced the other week in T's) no burger bun for me though. :) May have salad with that too.

Friday night after work will take out portion of carbonara - havent really been enjoying it too much even in smaller portions, think it might be the overload of cheese sauce on the pasta. Going to cook a rasher or two extra of bacon, chop it and mix it in and see if that helps the taste any!
