I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Well I have to say I started this a while ago, stopped shopping every day, cooking the whole bag of spuds for mash and freezing half in portions, cooking large pan spag boll, freeze in portions an so on.
I have saved at seast £100 a month.
That's my kind of saving, I can't get around in the shops so I have to look to saving in other ways. My shopping is on-line so I miss out on all the vouchers, reduced items etc.
Just made four meals out of one chicken, roast legs, breast wrapped in bacon, the larger bits done in a white sauce with veg and wrapped in puff pastry - like a large chicken wellington. and good old chicken soup. Going to freeze the soup, it made enough for 4 generous portions. Not bad for one chicken. Also, I have enough bacon left over to make 'pigs in blankets' for another meal.
today - banana and small portion of fruit and fibre cereal for breakie
Lunch: cup a soup
Tea - chicken in puff pastry, easy chocolate mousse, surprising what can be done with a cheap bar of chocolate 30p, eggs are free
I've been monitoring the electric usage, managed to get it down to 22units per day from 27 by heating the water with oil not electric - how does that compare with everyone else?0 -
Been naughty, went to Mr w for ww meal, they have Mr kipling cakes 60p a box, I got bakewells, also got some reduced asparagus and baby leafs £2.13 in total ww came up as waitrose do not accept this coupon, think there may be trouble with that one, or its reached it quota. so left it, It's a shame they have the best selection.
Also went to Mr s, beans, ww meals, welch juice and a bag of frozen peas all free, she did have trouble with ww coupon but managed to put it through, the welch coupon went through full price, there was 30p overage, so she just put it through.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Had a pretty good day and got my food for free and a £29.50 shop down to £6.04 at Tesco.
Bought:
3 x Welch's Grape Juice @ £2 = £6
3 x Matchmakers @ £1 = £3
5 x Heinz 5 Beanz @ 85p = £4.25
2 x Anchor butter @ £1.60 = £3.20
Special K Moments @ £1.99
750g steak mince (offer) @ £2.57
McCains chips (offer) @ £1
Storage bags (reduced) @ 50p each = £1
Wild bird seed 12.75kg (reduced) @ £6.49 (birds Xmas pressie)
Sub total = £29.50
Multi-buys - Anchor £1.20, Beanz £1.25
Sub total = £27.05
Used 3 x Welch's coupons (scanned £2.59), 5 x Beanz (scanned 85p), 3 x Matchmakers (£1 each), Special K (£1.99), McCains (50p), £2 off £20 and £1.50 clubcard - minus £21.01
Total = £6.04
Total less than bird seed!! So NSD food-wise.
Sadly no more Tesco £2 off £20 coupons ......................... unless the postman brings a nice surprise.
I was going to go to Sainsbury's, but can't be bothered tonight. I'll have a look tomorrow.
Not hungry tonight, been snacking all day, so pork medallions for tomorrow. Hubby had the WW risotto and said it was the best one so far. Freezers are NOT really going down!!

Morning all, hoping for a better day today, we'll wait and see. Lynsey that bird seed was a bargain, must look and see if i can get some at the weekend. I will be buying the fat balls when they come into Lidls next week as i must have fussy birds as they don't like the ones from Home bargains or the Poundshop so will stock up. I buy the coconut things from home bargains as "woody" (the kids call him that) woodpecker likes them. Anyway food plan today is brekkie- had toast, lunch-Boiled egg and tea is venison burger, chips and salad. Later maybe a glass of my favourite wine it's lovely, if oh picks it up on his way home.0

Morning all, nice day here .................... still got the heating on though!!
Just had cheese on toast for breakfast, probably popping out to do a Groupon as we need to bank - 2 cupcakes and a hot drink each and free with the £5 credits - got 5 of those to use up, but valid until 10th Feb 2013. I'm thinking of trying Sainsbury's to see if they are nice and give me a till spit. I would love £4 off £20, but would gratefully accept a £2 off £20 one. I could then use some coupons to make up the value.
just trying - the bird seed in Tesco was a good deal for Tesco and seems like decent stuff - Natures Feast Feeder Supreme 12.75Kg.
The stuff from Home Bargains is terrible now (1.8kg for 99p) and we got some decent stuff from Poundland (1.5kg). There was a sticker on the Tesco one stating "Known overstock", probably why reduced.
A woodpecker?? Nice. We get the odd robin and we look out for "limpy", a wood pigeon with a broken or damaged leg, limps around the garden like "Long John Silver", bless him.

Hi all, been lurking for a few days so thought I would say hello. I need to use stuff out of my freezer but have also been using the coupons here and found it quite addictive - although it doesn't help me to run down my stocks!l
Will have to rein the spending in as been an expensive couple of months so need to recoup some of the money I have been spending.0 -
katep23 - welcome to the thread and nice to see another "couponer". Hope you manage to recoup and good luck.
Only spent in Sainsbury's to get more Beanz and picked up some foodbank stuff.
Bought:
4 x Heinz 5 Beanz @ 2 for £1.50 = £3.00
Pack of 3 cans sweetcorn (reduced) @ 73p
7 x Beanfeast Mexican Chilli (reduced) @ 25p = £1.75
Sub total = £5.48
Used 4 x Heinz coupons (scanned 85p each) - minus £3.40
Total = £2.08
My spend was 73p (sweetcorn) and foodbank £1.35 - giving the extra 40p off Heinz coupons to foodbank stuff ..................... because I'm nice. lol
Groupon cupcakes/coffee was fab, glad I've got a few of those to use.
Pork medallions, stuffing and roast veg in oven now.
BTW - the 15p pear quarters in Tesco Express have gone back up to 64p - 15p was a crazy, crazy price.

Evening all
Not been posting much -just crazy week at work and next week + week after are going to be equally busy. Not planning another big shop until week after next, just plodding along slowly. Coupon finds seem to be slowing down lol - hardly anything new and interesting!
Going to hopefully be making cakes in the next week with Mum, we have so many bits and pieces to use up it's mad.
Also got a nice dinner planned for Sunday, with all things from the freezer stocks
Will post when things look a bit livelier, good luck everyone with running down your stocks!0
