Great - day one of my mini challenge - a NSD except for parcels at the PO, sold a few things on eBay.
Tea- shoulder of lamb, quite a large one so hopefully will have enough to do shepherds pie, casserole, cold on sandwiches and scotch broth with the bits and bobs at the end.
Was going to give my DH cheese and biscuits afterwards but looking in the cupboard I think he has eaten all the water biscuits as I knew I had half a packet left. I think I'll keep quiet and say 'oh dear' I thought I had some bis.. never mind I'll just give you some extra cheese' - hope he will feel guilty but at least it will stop me having to do a pudding for him:rotfl:

Not written on this thread in ages as I was unwell for a while, and thus fell into the trap of buying ready meals and junk and it was costing us a small fortune! Thankfully I'm feeling better now so am going to reimplement my £60 a week max shopping budget and try to use up some of the tins and dried foods we have in the cupboards. We also have a freezer full of veg and other various bits and pieces.

Yesterday evening we had a gnocchi bake made with gnocchi from Tesco, 2 cans of Campbell's mushroom condensed soup, 2 tubs of Tuna mayo sandwich filling which needed using, frozen mixed veg, a dash of milk, black pepper and grated cheese. I topped it off with some granary breadcrumbs I made and froze some months ago. I wasn't sure it would work but in the end it was very tasty.

For pudding we had a fruit crumble made with two tins of sliced peaches and one tin of fruit cocktail courtesy of Mr. S Basics. The crumble topping went a bit wrong out too much stork in it and this it turned out more like a cross between sponge cake and pastry but it turned out tasty nonetheless.

Today we had soup made from split peas, black eyed beans and pearl barley all stuff my OH bought by accident when I was asking for some other type of beans or lentils! I soaked overnight and they only took 50 minutes to cook then I saut!ed some onions, garlic and a chopped carrot, added some herbs and a dash of all purpose seasoning, banged in a couple of knorr stockpots, added some chopped halal turkey bacon added some water and it was ready in 20 minutes. There is still some left for lunch tomorrow and some of the beans/pulses I cooked I took out before making the soup and I will be making a different type of soup with those tomorrow xx

Had lunch out. Skipped brekkie and had a cream of chicken soup from cupboard for dinner, loads of cup soups to use up. So will tackle for lunches

dasophster - good that you are feeling better, nice to see you posting.

    Blew my budget tonight. lol
Went to Sainsbury's and not much I fancied veg wise, but spotted a lovely pack of rib eye steaks - £2.99 though from just over £8, but a treat after being frugal. Nothing else foodwise, but got some Lynz deodorants @ 75% off.

Not sure about tomorrows food yet, but it'll be out of the freezer.

Packed 2 boxes for the foodbank tomorrow and a decent selection, though it will be shared no doubt.

Check your emails for Groupon credits (£5), I've grabbed another loads of freebies this week - 5 x 2 course Italian meals. lol

Morning all, bit windy here today.

ms_night_ryder - was that the Groupon deal?? I looked at that for my Son, I was going to "buy" it and send the voucher. I often look at the London North deals and we would loved to have done the seafood platter - not too bad with credits off.
He's not "flavour of the month" though, we got a call from him at 4.45 this morning!! He must be out working early today and dialled by mistake!!

Might skip breakfast and have cheese on toast for elevenses. Carpet fitter (hopefully around 1pm) and then I can relax. Possibly pop to Tesco later.
Ready meals for later and I'll make a cottage pie for tomorrow.

The food bank is a great idea we dont have one in our church or area but when on holiday on IOW last year they had one at the church so we donated .

Yesterday was Goulash made from the stores and all I bought was some bread rolls from Morrisons 5 rolls for £1 as Hubby at 2 day schools so will need a pack up lunch.
Today will be chicken dinner all from my stores so another NSD

  • Morning all, really windy here aswell though not raining yet but looks like it could start raining anytime. The food plan so far is going to have toast in a minute, lunch soup and dinner is chicken, pasta and garlic bread. Not up to anything today so far. Catch up later.
