I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

morning all.
DM went in the freezer last night and got out a pack of mince, my dream of having shepherds pie has been realised (as per post #6996!!) as she's going to be cooking it tomorrow while I'm at work so there will be some for me to have when I get home
have used up all portions of ready meals in the freezer, have the ww piri piri chicken one for tonight though, so will be interesting to find out what that's like.
havent really been using freezer stock much at all this week otherwise but did make a large salad on tuesday as there were two peppers on the way out - which has done me for two meals + another one today so that's good.
want to see if there are any good enough deals for coupons when we go out to get a few bits on sunday....we shall see.0 -
No cooking for me today - kids had happy meals last night so we had bowls of tuscan bean soup - still enough for lunch today
So gonna try one of the Wrights ciabatta bread mixes today, chilli con carne bake and weetabix brownies for pud (got some cream to use up...mm hot brownies and cream)0 -
Hi all,
Can someone point me to the grocery challenge please as I can't seem to find it? Tyvm.
Had a busy few days and not been online much so not posted. We were making space in the freezer till I nipped in Mr T on Wednesday night and got lots of silly price bargains so it is now nearly full again. Plus I have been getting lots of free five beans (ty lynsey) too so cupboards rather full too!
Tonight is mad night with the kids with tandem beavers and cubs so they will eat tinned things. We have dug a bag of curry that we have had in the freezer for a week or so and are going to have that.
Got DS1's birthday party tomorrow at home so that will use a selection from the freezer up and make a bit of room to get that turkey in along with other Christmas goodies.
I hope everyone is well x3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Have just made my own homemade laundry powder, I used 2bars dove soap (found in back of bathroom cupboard, 500g soda crystals and 500g borax - smells lovely! Can't wait to use it only I have no washing until tomorrow morning!0

Welcome pamdish and sorry about your loss. Everyone is so friendly on here and the info you can get is immense.
Went shopping yesterday for fresh fruit and veg and some bread and milk. Managed to finally find the cracker crisps as we went to sainsburys in the afternoon. Our local tescos is a metro and hardly sells anything new and gets rid of the cheap items you get to like and can't get anymore
Had cereal today for brekkie skipped lunch and had hot dogs with onions from cupboards and brought fresh finger rolls. Just snack rest of day.
Need to curb my enthusiasm for all the xmas goodies that are coming out :eek:Looking for bargains anywhere i can :hello:0 -

Hi Pamdish and so sorry for your loss, must be an incredibly difficult time for you ...
best of luck starting to use up the freezers/stores , I have definitely started to think twice and saved lots of money since joining the thread!
donna- well done on making laundry stuff - let us know how it works!!
using up leftovers this week have done quite well , not much waste... cupboards looking bare-er in some areas! ..... milk, bread and soup out of freezer plus meat defrosting to make chilli's and casserole to go back in the freezer again!
About £10 over the £400 challenge but gonna meal plan to see if we can stretch what we have out for the next 6 weeks!:eek:0 -
pamdish, I just went back through the thread and read your post and just wanted to say welcome and I am sorry for your sad loss. You will be most welcome here - we aren't a bad bunch!! You take care and look forward to reducing those stocks!

Sounds like a good plan - stick to it - easier said than done - I always find when I get to this point I spend loads more in a panic0
