I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

I got the butternut squash one and also the tai curry. They were the only ones they had.0

Morning all.
Toast with butter on for breakfast (again)!! I think the Kerrygold butter is softer and spreads more easily.
No problems with the WW coupons scanning so far, but I did notice the barcode was blurry when I tried to adjust the size. I printed loads off yesterday (gave some away, coupons that is) and only 1 large 1 per page - wast of paper, but very, very clear and easy to read.
Spends yesterday, only Sainsbury's:
2 x free Heinz 5 Beanz
4 x Fab Potz (reduced) @ 35p = £1.40
So only £1.40 spent.
Fab Potz will be great for the "kids".
Worth looking out for and quite a few ice creams reduced, though some shelves were bare!!
Took out fish-cakes for main meal to have with chips and peas.
I had planned to go to Tesco today, but may leave until tomorrow and have a "couponing day" - we'll see.

Morning everyone! I have only been lurking for the last couple of weeks because I have been all over the place with cooking shopping etc. We have had quite a few takeaways too because I hurt my knee really badly and couldn't stand for longer than a minute or so and had real difficulty walking even the shortest distance. I'm on the mend now, thanks to physio and anti inflammatories, but they have told me that at some point I may need a new knee:eek:
Anyway I am back on the bandwagon again now and have been making a start on using up stuff from the freezer. DD1 is home from university for a week so food conusmption will increase dramatically as she eats for England and never seems to be full!
I got the Tesco £4 meal deal the other day with the chicken thighs and we are having that for tea tonight. I just had boiled eggs and toast for breakfast and will have a light lunch - maybe just some soup and an apple.
I printed off some of the WW coupons but haven't used them yet. Does anyone know if the meals are suitable for freezing, and are they nice?
I have been using up some of Green's stash - we had cheesecake and egg custard at the weekend - both of which are lovely.
I need to keep my budget at about £200 or less for November, plus I need to run down the freezers so that I can make room for Christmas stuff. Mind you I am hoping not to buy loads of foodstuff at Christmas this year - we always have loads of waste plus we don't need all the calories!!
Anyway I have enjoyed reading your posts and it is nice to see newbies getting involved with the challenge. At the moment I am trying to see how long I can go without having to pay full price for bread - so far I have done three weeks! By not paying full price I mean paying 30p a loaf or less.Jane

Jane - nice to see you posting, hope you are well and especially that knee.
The WW meals freeze, yes. I'm seriously thinking of filling another freezer with them and other bits and I'll not be eating them. Might try the veggie one eventually, but I don't eat curries and spicy things really.
Just printed 6 Special K Biscuits coupons - don't miss that today!!
L'Oreal should be able to print very soon, loaded up but not ready to print yet.

Yesterday made biscuits - Mary berry's fork biscuits. Made 32 have to say some were eaten but managed to freeze most. Then I realised that if I froze the dough it occupies less space than cooked biscuits. So made a further 8 batches and froze them like sausages just ready to cut and bake when I need them. Ringed the changes by putting in cocoa powder for chocolate ones, also used mixed spice and then some with ginger. Not sure how those will taste.
Anything to stop me shopping I seriously think I have an addiction
Does anyone ever buy their vets wholesale - I'm going to see if I can to make all these meals as I've so much in the freezers and to buy veg from the supermarkets would cost a fortune.
I love Mary Berry's recipes! That is a lot of biscuits to make in one go though, I barely have the patience to make one batch! It was her double choc biscuits I made at the weekend, I love the fact her recipes always work and taste good.
Re the addiction, given I have a fairly small kitchen/freezer/stock of food it's taking me all year to bother to use up excess food and I've not enjoyed having to eat it so given how much others buy it must be enough to last for ages! - maybe make a meal plan as if you see how much food you have in it might mean you could take a month or so off buying for main meals? Plus stopping spending for a bit there will be more money in hand otherwise the spending on food cycle will never stop as it's more constant spend.
The less I have in the happier I am, the tidier the kitchen is, the less time I spend sorting it out - plus the more I buy as I need, the more I enjoy the food. There will always be other offers coming up judging by the amount that get posted on this thread.. I would worry I would get bored, as I have done, if I buy more than 1 of each thing at a time or even that I want to change the way I eat.
Do you have space to grow your own? or I've found farmer's markets and farm shops can be cheaper and better/fresher than supermarkets. Lynsey has a wholesaler shop that sells to the public but never seen one here
Late breakfast will be banana and fruit juice - I really need to make some bread tomorrow although I've found I've eaten a lot less carbs recently and felt better for it. Not giving them up though but find smaller portions better if I do eat them.
Lunch - another strange one - found the last of the onion bhajis in the freezer so will have those with corn on the cob.
Dinner - may make up a batch of Quorn bolognaise with added beans as I can eat that today and tomorrow and freeze the rest till December. Will also use up a tin of toms from the cupboard.
Got the first few days of vegan month planned - a couple of frozen moroccan chickpea/lentil/spinach stew I made ages ago then onto a jar of pasta sauce which I'll add home grown chilli & borlotti beans to, that should do a week of dinners. Will use up the batch of frozen butternut & chilli soup for lunches that I don't really fancy but needs using. Then when that lot is used up I will go onto tofu and veg stir fries for dinner maybe with added cashews that need using up.0 -

Hope you are a bit more on the mend now, wouldn't fancy having my knee replaced, was watching an op on tv on that Sunday, the guy was awake
Re Christmas, last year was the first I didn't buy anything except I think a Quorn Roast - though admittedly I ate xmas dinner at my parents' house and did a shop from Ocado in between Christmas and New Year so got a few luxury reduced bits and free delivery. There must be so much food wasted at Christmas though..0 -
Lynsey i managed to get 3, i got a new cartridge for 9.50 gonna get some from ebay at the same price for 2! but today alone i have had £10 of coupons, x 3 moments, i also got a beans and a ww meal, piri chicken, i have 3 meals in, going to have 1 for lunch, then get some fruit from waitrose and a meal obviously
I didnt realise i had quite so many 5 beans about 40 ish, in the new year i won't be giving as much to charity, i feel bad only being able to give beans and its costing me to get other stuff, which i cant really afford, i dont mind giving the freebies, so will collect those and distribute between my cousin and uncle in the new year. will be doing a food drop this week at some point, mostly beans.
i have now had 2 ww meals and have 3 in the fridge, with plenty of coupons printed, will be using quite a few a week, the 2 i have had so far are nice, very of generous of ww to aid my weight loss in the run up to christmas lol.
Going to have some pasta bake for dinner, so far grocery wise i have spent 1p on the weight watcher meal in sainsburys, low spend in mr w hopefully, just fruit needed, plenty of veg around to last the week.
Freezer is absolutely full, ate the remaining gelato and filled the space with the mr w sausages, so really need to work on making space, will start hoarding ww meals near the end of december, right now there is no need to, but i do need to make way for hams and other reduced goodies and freebies i am sure is to come.
Jane yes you can freeze WW mealsLose 28lb 3/28lb

afternoon ladies and germs
not much to report - popped out today to pay bills and DM asked me to pick her up some cakes when I was out.
Remembered I had a Mr Kipling 25p voucher left over from the insert in the T's mag from a month or so ago so I used that in the local Mr Bud&en's on some Cherry Bakewells - her favourites.
Needless to say she is a happy bunny at the moment. :rotfl:
Can't find the darn WW sausages in Bug&ens, or Mr T's, going to attempt again tomorrow (although I dont know where, cba to trek to Mr A's!) and after that I will have to bin coupon because it will be ood.0
