Morning all.
Kirri - I'm not too sure about the Morries apples as didn't need any, so didn't really look. Just noticed everything was 35p.
The 15p bags of Sainsbury's apples last week were from Kent.
No further spends yesterday, but was tempted to go for the cheap £1 cheese. We're not really keen on Cathedral, but very good glitch.
katskorner - great bargains, well done. Hope those antibiotics do the trick.
smegcat - hope you are feeling better also.
KIT KAT - Sainsbury's now have the packs of 8 x 2 finger packs for £1 - 50p for those that saved that coupon.
Food today is sausage and onion sandwich for breakfast and stir fry with chicken done in garlic oil for main meal. I must have gone OTT with the diced chicken breasts!!
I'm trying to be a bit frugal this week, but will get some bacon from Lidl on Saturday, if that's my offer. I would like to spend £25 or less, but not fixed if the right bargains appear.
10 weeks today to Xmas.

Went Mr T's as we needed to buy suet, porridge oats and loo rolls - DM forgot to get them yesterday.
Ended up with a small trolley of stuff because I'd taken coupons with me that were about to expire, got some reasonably good deals.
T's Extra Value Sausage & Onion Plait; £2.00 - reduced to 95p
Walkers 6pk Salt & Vinegar crisps; £1.99 reduced to £1.39.
After Eight Mints 300g; £3.00, reduced to £2.10.
Pure Life Water 2 Litre; 65p - 15p with coupon
Lenor 1.4L; £3.37 - on offer for £2.00 but with coupon £1.00!
Lenor Infusions 750ml; £2.25 - on offer for £1.50 but with coupon 50p!
Sanex Zero travel size shower gel (for when we go away for a few days in December); £1.20, with coupon 70p.
Took advantage of four sachets of Options Hot Chocolate for £1 (32p each) and two packs of Flora Proactive Spread for £6 (£3.76 each).
Cupboards that were looking a bit bare are now a bit fuller, not going to be buying anymore ready meals or meat for at least two weeks, we have plenty in at the moment.0 -
Does anyone use the mysupermarket.com website? I used to love going to the shops for bargains at about 7pm and have picked up some great reductions but lately (due to my lack of mobility) I've been shopping online.
Mysupermarket has a slot for 'savvy' buys which I always look at first. They are items with at least 33% off normal prices, many are more than that.
Currently Asda has Bisto best gravy at £1 for the largest jar - beef and chicken instead of the usual £2.75.
Jaffa cakes 50p for 12, usually £1
McVities chocolate digestives £1 instead of £1.75
Flora £2 per kilo instead of £4
Mattesons smoked reduced fat sausage £1 instead of £1.65 (love this on pizza)
300gm Nescafe £4 it is £7.49 in Mr T
Mr S has half price finish dishwasher £5.25
If you order an item and they haven't got it they will substitute another item, generally more expensive for the same price, also you don't have to accept any substitutions if you don't want to - they take it back and credit you.
Asda will deliver a minimum order of £1 and their cheapest delivery slot is £3
Sainsbury have just reduced their minimum order to £25
I have worked out that if I drove to the supermarket the cost in fuel is more than the £3 delivery charge and I don't do any 'impulse' buying.
I do seriously miss going to the supermarkets and hunting for bargains, but also I can still see ways of saving by using this website. For those of you who do not use it, it compares the prices of MrT MrS MrA Waitrose and Ocado. I also find by not staying loyal to any one store I frequently get money off offers, they want my custom.
One thing I really do miss is the half price gammon from Sainsbury - I find it such a useful item. Does anyone know if it's on offer at the moment and I'll get my daughter to change her shopping habit for a single week and get me several as she is due to visit (the old folk:rotfl:) Thursday.0 -
Deleted_User well done on the Lenor :T
Lynsey I was partly brought up in Kent, loadsa apples there but I prefer the cherries mmm. Thank you for unknowingly reminding me to put cobnuts on the Christmas list.

I use it but only for comparing prices - This week I sat and added a lot of price alerts and am excitedly waiting to hear when my most wanted items drop.. I like the new high/low prices feature and chart0 -

I got cobnuts from Farnell Farm last week via the post, they aren't cheap though  would have been cheaper via a farmer's market than paying postage but it was convenient.. They aren't organic but are grown naturally.

Waitrose only stock them whilst fresh I think, haven't seen dehusked cobnuts in the supermarkets??
I got chestnuts last Christmas but quite a few had insects in0 -
Deleted_User well done on the Lenor
ThanksHad a bit of a browse on the main Tesco site last night as I knew we were going there today. The sanex travelsize was a bit of a stab in the dark but happy with that - will go nicely with the Aussie travel size shampoo I got for only 20p about a month ago lol.
if anyone sees a good deal in the next couple of weeks for the Ariel bottled gel (not the liquitabs) in Mr T's let me know? I have a £1 coupon for that and we will probably need some soon.0 -

Edwardia:- Our sweet chestnuts aren't ready yet, I wait until they fall off the tree but they are wicked to peel, really spikey husks. I suppose you can get imported ones -usually Spanish- and they are larger than the English ones. It's usually late November before I start to collect.
There is a saying, Follow a squirrel to find cobnuts, shoot the squirrel to harvest cobnuts. We have several hazel trees here loaded with immature cobnuts in about September. I try each year to harvest the mature ones but surprisingly to date I have never managed to harvest even a single mature cobnut, and yes we do have loads of squirrels here.
Mushrooms are just starting to emerge, the grass bank had loads the other morning. I'm always fearful of picking them, I wish I knew which ones were ok.0 -
Morning'ish all to a wet and windy day!!
Popped into Sainsbury's late last night and "nabbed":
3 x packs of pork mince (500g) @ 49p per pack = £1.47
4 x packs of haddock fishcakes @ 29p per pack = £1.16
1 x JS beef stock @ 10p = 10p
1 x Sesame seed baguette @ 40p = 40p
Total = £3.13
Packed the mince in 250g bags for spag bol.
Fishcakes are chunky and look nice (supposed to be £2 per pack)!!
No breakfast (apart from Kit Kat), just a coffee.
Took out rib eye steaks and lamb cutlets and will have a mini grill with last of diced chicken kebabs. Mushrooms to use and will have with fried onions and new potatoes done on the griddle pan.
Think I'll make the carrot and coriander soup today also.
Need to hit Tesco today to use up non-food coupons and grab 6 x 4 packs of Nouvelle toilet rolls (50p using coupons). I might try and make Tesco spends up to £20 and use £2 off £20, I could get some food-bank stuff.
I need frozen sweetcorn and eggs this week and bacon at the weekend and that's really it.
Looks like we won't be travelling south for the funeral as delayed slightly and probably won't be able to make it next week.
I might have a look at the hotel offers and visit Son in November as hubby has lots of time off between now and Xmas.
