  • This goes against the basic idea of this thread ;) but I have bought lots of the Greens Carmel mix and the Custard mix. Anyone know if it is possible to freeze the finished pud? I live alone, am diabetic and love both of these but it would be good if I could make individual ones and freeze out of harms way. At least it would use the pkts out of the cupboard and move into freezer !!! Thanks for the voucher tips. Wonder if Heinz will give us coupons for the new beans with garlic and herbs? would be great.

If it's breast pieces - rather than a whole turkey - that has frozen together, you could bash the crap out of them with a rolling pin. :rotfl:

My mothers tried and tested method for other things, dont know that it would work on turkey.

dawn1 - you could possibly part thaw them and separate off and put back in freezer. As long as they aren't defrosted, you should be ok - hope others advise and confirm though.

whmf00001 - new beans coupon?? lol
I think they may make any new ones slightly different. :D
I'm not too sure about freezing the Green's stuff, but why not just use part of a packet?? I did this with the custard, just used half a packet.

Had buttered toast for elevenses to get me through until later.

Just planning my Tesco attack. :rotfl:

Well. I have to do ALOT of cooking.

OH went into the garage last night and found a bag of food he had accidently left out of the freezer the night before. It contained 1.5kg lean beef mince and about 8 spare rib pork chops (large).

So I now have to spend the time I have over the next two days cooking a fair number of meals that will end up back in the freezer. At least they will last us a while!

Good job it wasn't the bag containing 10kgs sirloin and a gressingham duck.....

I do have lots of fresh veg that will get used in the cooking along with a fair few jars and tins of toms and beans at least!

nsd today - I should think so! :) (although do need to get the Jamie card from Mr T either today or tomorrow).
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Thanks everyone for the get wells. Up at 0230 this morning  as i couldn't stop coughing and didn't want to wake oh.
Had pork stirfry today using stirfry mix and pork out of freezer.
Haven't been shopping yet this week but will have to go tomorrow for fresh stuff ;)
Looking for bargains anywhere i can :hello:
  • I have one large upright freezer, one commercial sized chest freezer and one medium fridge/freezer. I cannot resist a bargain and all are crammed to overflowing. What makes things worse is that I use to buy for a family of 4 adults - now I live alone and after weightloss surgery, eat very little. I think I am buying food as a substitute for comfort eating.:o At least I can give my leftovers to my chickens or even cook some of the stuff just for them. :j

I'm the same, just can't pass up a freezer/cupboard bargain, i'm a bugg*r for the whoopsie shelf at my local Co-Op. I need to really run my freezer down :o

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
  • How did you do with your Tesco attack Lynsey? I went there a short while ago and they only had 4 packs of the Nouvelle left on the shelf, so will have to go back and try anther day to get the rest.

LadyCoupon - it went according to plan and there were plenty of packs of Nouvelle - if you can't use your coupons, I'll take them. :D

    Tesco:

    6 x Nouvelle 4 packs @ £1.50 = £9 (used 6 x £1 coupons)
    2 x Ariel Stain Remover @ £2 = £4 (used 2 x £1 coupons)
    2 x Flash with Fabreze @ £1.50 = £3 (used 2 x 50p coupons)
    1 x Amy's Kitchen mushroom risotto (reduced) @ 62p = 62p
    2 x shish kebabs (reduced) @ 75p = £1.50
    1 x Lakeside cheddar (350g) @ £1.99 = £1.99
    1 x pack gammon steaks @ £2 = £2 (used £2 off £20 coupon)
    Sub total = £22.11
    Coupons = £11
    Total = £11.11

Food total = £4.11, got the gammon steaks free. :j

No more shopping today and I might try and stay away from the shops until Saturday.

Rib eye steak was lovely, would love a few dozen of them "whoopsied".

Soup made for tomorrow and hubby is having a curry. Probably not doing Groupon now and might keep most of them for November to save on food buying.

  • Hey guys.

Had a trip to Mr w, 4 ready meals, juice and onion rings, got pad Thai which I just had for dinner, that was 3 quid alone, usually 4, not many bargains, got the usual yogurt tubes £9.65

Went to Mr s, they have grated mild cheddar HP for £1 and copella £1.35 got 2 5 beans so spent £12 today, off out tomorrow and pass a few Mr t's on the wH, so will have a look for the cathedral cheese.

Had frankfurters and seasoned beans for.lunch, with 2 mini pittas, pad Thai for dinner.

Out all day, so will defrost a ready meal, I'm at Zumba, so no cooking, will make fish on Friday.
