    I've been Money Tipped!
Lynsey I am also keeping out of shops, but this is a record for you :P

    Cheeky. :p
Almost there though, only a few more hours to suffer. lol

Sorted the freezer drawer, just squeezed the sides and the front popped off. Took out a small beef joint to have a dinner with tomorrow.

Baked some buns (Wright's Premium White Mix) and we had burger in a bun with fried onions. Soup later for myself and smoked haddock for hubby.

I need a few things tomorrow - milk, eggs, bacon, nuts, crisps and.................... "whoopsies".
Probably try Tesco also and fingers crossed for the cheap jams and honey.

  • Used up last of sausage and onion plait I bought the other day in Mr T's for breakfast - have had a third of it the last three mornings now with an egg for breakfast, it's strangely nice!!

Having 2 of the pork chops I freezer dived for last week tonight (got another four in the freezer still!) Also took a pack of wedges and a 2 pack of bacon out as well. Wedges will go with the chops and will use up the last tin of sweetcorn in the cupboard to go with it.

Working on using up my freezer meals - got 2 more pasta bakes + 1 ww meal + a lasagna to go, should see me through next week.
Cutting down on buying bread now as well - I've switched to malted bread for my diet, which DM doesnt like, so we dont have that much in that regard to use.

Outside freezer is still reasonably stocked, hoping our supplies will last us for the rest of the month. We have a refund due to us from a company who started us on a new policy for our old washing machine when we had a contract with them to begin with, only found out two weeks ago they have been taking £15 from us every month for six months - so when we get the refund we can have a nice £90 monthly shop!

Inventory what you have seems to be a running theme on here :) You will be surprised what meals you can assemble out of what's in your kitchen/freezers!

Case in point - after writing my last post (the post above yours lol) I went to take a portion of pasta bake out of the freezer for myself, ended up freezer diving in our outside freezer for the remaining three portions of wedges we have - have made up three more mini meals for after work (I'm working six nights from Monday onwards ) - garlic bread and wedges.

Nice lot of carbs for cold nights! :rotfl:

Had to go to doctors as throat bad and not looking good. Told it was a virus  and given painkillers. Then i had to go to dentist so not a good day.
Didn't do any shopping and not planning any now till monday which is when i just need bread :j
Have belly pork for tomorrow and got 2 jumbo packs of chicken drumsticks and thighs from aldi £2.49 per pack (thought that was quite a bargain with prices high at the mo), have salad and will make wedges, so that will be sunday sorted when family comes over. There are 7 of us in total each sunday so it takes a bit of organising to get different meals.
    Welcome to cagneuk.
Looking for bargains anywhere i can :hello:

Same as theatregirl suggested, the inventory - it's then scary how much stuff is in the house!! Makes it easier to highlight items needing using up and creating meals from things. But if you read too much on this thread you will probably end up buying even more!!

Got a few bits of fruit and veg in great condition in M&S this morning, all 50% off, they had loads of stuff reduced. Got home feeling pleased then found I had 3 jars of hot chocolate in the cupboard, all out of date, bit annoyed!! Will still use them though..

    Morning all.

    2 x NSD's in a row completed. :D
Took almost 10 months to realise that I can save even more by having NSD's. :rotfl:

Been out this morning though. ;)

    Freebies today:
    2 x Heinz 5 Beanz.
    Anchor double cream.

    Lidl:
    4 x middle bacon @ 94p = £3.76
    6 FR eggs @ 99p = 99p
    Pack Custard Creams @ 31p = 31p
    Pack Ginger Nuts @ 29p = 29p
    Pack Rich Tea @ 23p = 23p
    Total = £5.58

    Tesco: (no reduced jams/honey sadly)
    2 x Chilli & Lemon snacks (half-price) @ 34p = 68p
    1 x Chilli Hoops @ 34p
    Total = £1.02

Sainsburys: (bags of milk gone back up so left it)
    2 x 8 x 2 finger Kit Kats @ £1 = £2
    Yoo Moo Frozen Yoghurt (reduced) @ 49p = 49p
    Sub total = £2.49
Used 2 x 50p coupon for Kit Kats (minus £1)
    Total = £1.49

Days total so far = 8.09

    Non-food - 2 x Aussie Hair Shampoo (minis) £1.20 (minus 2 x £1 coupons) = 40p.

BTW - Tesco have a lot of Corfresh Snacks at hlaf-price and also other offers. LINK

Need milk later and possibly crisps and nuts.

Short of butter, sugar and frozen sweetcorn, but wait until next week.

Toast for breakfast and beef dinner later - same tomorrow.

Tot up this set of 6 weeks spends later (weeks 37 - 42), but will be highest set of the year.

    Have a great weekend.

EDIT: Welcome to cagneuk, where in Newcastle do you live (area)??
Hope smegcat and all others suffering are feeling better.

    Hi All,
I'm back with my tail between my legs and failed miserably at my grocery spend challenge until December. As my freezer was empty and cupboards were bare, I've filled them back up again as I intended but have spent about £250 on groceries in the last month alone :( To be fair, they are completely brimming again now but I only have £50 left for the challenge to last me until December which won't happen as we need to buy lunch items. I've definitely spent less since July by having a challenge though so I suppose it worked in one way.

I have a freezer full of home cooked meals which will see us through to the New Year and probably beyond so the one bonus is that I won't need to buy too much cupboard/freezer stuff.

I'm back here to keep me on the straight and narrow until the freezer is once more munched through.

How have you all been? X
  • morning all,

wedges I put up to defrost to go with dinner last night turned black  so binned them and had mash instead. will have to cook the other portions from frozen when I get around to eating them this week.

planning shepherds pie this week to use up some mince in the freezer and also a couple of tins of carrots that are in the cupboard, should give us a couple of nice meals.

tomorrow will be lamb minted steaks from the freezer with the rest of the parsnips, some swede and some veg.

wont be doing another big shop now until late this week at least, looking forward to bargain hunting again :)
