elly2 - welcome to the thread and good luck.
Have you never though of opening a cafe?? :D
    Just kidding, great selection there.

Popped into Sainsbury's for milk and got a few things, though not really much reduced I fancied.

Freebies - 2 tins Heinz 5 Beanz - gave some away today and probably under 130 now.

    Bought:
    Small bloomer (reduced) - 35p
    4 pints milk - £1.18
    Boursin - £1
    Galbani mozzarella - £1
    McCains Home chips - £1
    2 x bags potatoes (reduced) @ 29p = 58p
    Sub total = £5.11
    Used 50p McCains coupon
    Total = £4.61

I'll get the few things I need in the next few days and trying not to buy much, if anything for the freezers.

Hoping Morries will accept the Tesco coupons and I'll check that out tomorrow when shopping for Brother.
Morries will be my new best friend if what's stated is correct ......... and the staff know what they're doing!!

Haven't a clue what we're eating this week, though fish and chips will be one meal.
Off to a funeral on Wednesday, so potential NSD there as down south and we'll not get back until late.

ms_night_ryder - hope you find another cheap George Foreman grill.

    hi everyone,

had to get milk today as we were so low that I had to dig out a whole milk uht that wass bb march 12 to make pancakes (it was fine). went to c&c to get more but prices had gone up and lidl is now cheaper. did get a free chicken, 12 chicken supremes (£3) and 1.5kg mince beef for £2.66... plus two boxes of guzzle puzzle sweets (36 bags per box) for a fiver. Kids are gonna love me come Christmas!

went to lidl and spent £35 but got beer on offer (ales in bottles ) for Christmas as well as bits an pieces. Couldnt get bacon or beans as none left (:().

Stopped updating my spreadsheets in June but I have all the receipts - the thought of catching up scares me and will take ages! But I need to get back in control as I am not sure what I am spending atm but I know it is always good deals!

ms_night_ryder, I buy the Green & Black's but tis OH who's addicted to the stuff. However as he's such a fidgety person and walks miles at work every day he isn't getting a big tum :D Sorry to hear about your grill.

    elly2 hi there and welcome

katskorner I hate going through receipts, I feel your pain. Luckily OH loves shredding them, imagining they are his boss's head for example so he deals with that :D

For dinner we have vegetable stew. OH got Laverstoke Park Farm lamb bones (1kg for 1.99, Abel & Cole) out of freezer, made stock then took the stuff out and strained stock and added fresh organic veg (fennel, onions, mushrooms, carrots, swede) and it smells mmm but he says not quite done yet.

I've got organic chicken wings out for tomorrow night. OH loves the marinade recipe off the Old Bay Seasoning box - it's sort of leaning towards Cajun but not quite as hot.

Freezer very nearly empty other than Christmas stuff, got chicken, langoustine stock and a gurnard I think. Maybe I should buy some cheap fish and do soupe de poissons this week as he has a few days off.. sounds like a plan..

Hope everyone well. Can't wait for furniture to turn up Saturday <squee> I'll be able to read next to my books for the first time instead of having to trundle about the house.

I'm over budget because I'm buying Christmas stuff as I go. I hope that means I won't have so much to buy in December. I'm more organised for Christmas than I have been before thanks to soworried's thread which nagged my brain. Having probs keeping OH away from biscuits.

Morning all, pretty grey day here!!

Just toast for breakfast and soup I think later.
No meal plans at all today.

Off to Morries soon to do Brother's shopping. I'll get him to print some L'Oreal coupons off - Tesco have lots of L'Oreal offers on at the moment.
Morries sometimes have lots of fruit and veg reduced on a Monday morning, so I'll have a look.
I'll get the rest of what I need tomorrow.

    Catch up later.

  • elly2 - Wowzas! That's a lot of food! I wish I could store more frozen food personally, but I live in a flat so only have a quite small fridge freezer, with 3 small drawers, so I have to be quite selective about what I put in there.
That being said, if there was a sustained powercut in your area, you could quite easily loose £££'s of £'s worth of food, so it's worth it to try and eat through some of it a bit.
If it were me, I'd try and do a meal plan for just one week of main meals, using food that's in there. Even if it's just "Monday = sausages, Tuesday = pies".

I hope the effort is appreciated. Still a few weeks to add more, but I'm just getting a few at a time now. God knows how many we've given away??

BTW - Morries accepted the Tesco coupon with no issues. Till girl reckons only 1 "outside" coupon per transaction, but stated the obvious, "Do as many transactions as you want".
So the Fairy 1.4l fabric conditioner was only £1 with the Tesco £1 coupon. I'll get a few of those whilst the offer is on. Probably give some away as I'm top-heavy on conditioner already. Too good an offer though!!

No food spends and just snacking, we are both off our food today.
I'll probably try Sainsbury's later ................... could always get some beans. :D

Ditto re elly, that is a scary amount of food, I couldn't imagine ever dealing with that amount even if I had the room!

I did think the same re power cut, I know some insurance policies cover it but I had a 3 hour power cut at the weekend! I would start setting out a meal plan to work out how many week's food that would cover.
  • Monthly shop on Sunday in Mr T's coming up - so am raking out all my remaining October coupons and binning anything out of date LOL.

Got new printer ink through this morning - so will be seeing if I can get anything we can use :)

Not much to report - using up supplies as needed between now and Saturday, hopefully will be a few NSD this week :)

I want a freezer inventory but every time I ask OH he visibly pales at the thought.... we have a giant chest freezer and a fridge freezer too.

If we did it then i could plan meals much better!

Cooked the free chicken yesterday so going to make fajitas tonight for us all with some of that.
