    Morning
Breakfast today is cereal, lunch will be coronation chicken with some left over roast, mixed with a little left over curry and mayonaisse. I am serving this on a jacket potato.
A change of plans for dinner as I am going to my parents, I will be cooking something there out of what ever they have in their two full freezers. And I wonder where I got my food storage habit from.:rotfl:
I am planning the drive back to coinside with YS time so I hope to pick up some strong cheese. I don't really need anything else but I will buy any super bargins.:D

Thankyou all for the hugs, it is strange. The hunt for YS has been the thing that has started to get me out of the house again. All the suggestions from the doctors didn't help. I think it is because my mind has a purpose to stay focused on, that way it can't shut down and go in to a fog. I am starting to be able to get out more and more now. :j

  • Grey and dull here today as well. The underfloor heating in the bathroom switched itself on yesterday much to the cats' delight, unfortunately for them I've reset the thermostat so its off again.
Went out with MIL again yesterday, we started off at the Denby factory but weren't very impressed, not many bargains to be had at all and they wanted over £4 for a prepacked sandwich in the cafe  I think not, so we headed over to Belper and found a big discount clothing shop there. I got a Autonomy tailored linen blend skirt and jacket suit for £30 and two Roman's tops for £17 so I was very pleased with that - but no impact on the freezer:D
recovering spendaholic do you think that some of your daughter's bad behaviour might be down to anxiety due to starting new phase in life? I see it a lot in our GCSE pupils in the last few weeks - they're unsure of the future so play up.
Lots of ironing to do today:( my worst job ever. Might venture to ASda to check out reputed cat food deal - We're down to 15 boxes
    Have a good day all

  • i wonderif i can join in with this thread.

last year we booked an expensive holiday and because we had to pay most of it upfront, put it on the credit card and the following month my OH overtime was stopped. he also signed into the copmpany pension, they said it would not make a huge amount of difference to his pay but with the loss of ot it has mean we lose about 400 a month. we are also trying to lose weight so have to eat carefully too - clothes are too tight, do not want to by more when we have a wardrobe full.

ive been having a few panic attacks lately over saving this money and not knowing what to do. we shifted it to a 0% card and so we have 6 months to get it paid. and i know that wecan do it if we pull our belt buckles in and stop spending the money on rubbish we do not need. i just keep thinking that xmas is coming, the tax and mot on the car is due and OH came in and said the tyres on the car were looking a bit low. everything at once. getting jittery just putting all this down on here and makes me feel like having a good cry but that is not going to help. i need to go to the dentist as a filling fell out but will wait til end of sept to see what is left. it is not hurting.

i wanted to get my credit card cleared - its not much £500 - and have an amount in my hand each week to spend but i do nto think we can afford to do this - certainly not this month - so we will live on what is in the freezer and hopefully not have to spend much on food. i have 20 voucher with tesco for bad cs so it seems silly not to get one more delivery to use that. i signed up to the delivery saver but am going to cancel that.

i have cancelled the amazon prime as last year we used it, this year we cant afford to.

i am not sure if cancelling delivery saver will save me money tho as i dod have to drive to the supermarket - i think i might buy stuff i shouldn't and our little tesco does not sell much cheap. do you think it is worth swapping to asda and i think i should go with just £50 in my pocket as i always end up buying stuff i do not actually need when in there. if i shop online i cant do that.

any tips and help along the way would be most appreciated. hope my introduction was not too long.

ive told a friend i could not 'go out' today and suggested meeting at mine for coffee and ive not heard anything since. :(

so hopefully do did not mind me getting this all out on here, my cupbaords are full and we do not eat half of it. if i tell you what i have, can you help me with meals? or is this not how this thread works? thanks for listening.
  • Do come and play:wave:inthebargainbin we're a very friendly lot. I can also recommend popping over to the old style board - they have a monthly grocery challenge with lots of helpful tips and loads of cheap recipes.
I would stay start by making a list of everything you have in the cupboard and freezer and see what meals you can make out of it. I would have a list of items and a list of meals and would cross of the items as I included them for a meal (I like lists though) and then when you can't make any more meals you can start to make a list of what you need to add to those items you have left to make more meals and this could be the basis of your shopping list. (I hope this makes sense)
You might find that portion control helps on both the weight and money side of things. The love food hate waste website has some good guidelines for this. I found when I started looking at this I often got two meals out of meat/fish/chicken that previously I would have thought of as one meal plus a lunch.
Do you have an Aldi or Lidl near you? They're often cheaper.

It's working for you though, along with "couponing".
I've noticed how enthusiastic you get and a good cheap therapy.
Nice to see your family get involved also (previous posts) - keep the "therapy" going.

inthebargainbin - welcome to the thread and good luck.
Panic attacks are not nice, but fully understandable if you don't feel in control and are worrying about it.
Hope posting here gives you some release.
I would recommend looking at the "coupon" thread, lots of coupons to reduce your shopping and get stuff for free and on the odd lucky occasion, get paid to take the stuff away!!

I popped into Sainsbury's this morning for some printer paper (coupons have taken the toll of late) - it's £2.49 for 500 sheets (HP Everyday).
Only bought a pack of cooking bacon @ 99p for 670g (I think) and looks like there are 2 thick bacon chops in there. I'll cube it later and it'll do for pastas etc. I might make cheese and bacon scones tomorrow. First time I've bought cooking bacon there.
The onions had doubled in price, so left them (£2.99 per bag now!!!).
Picked up 2 more tins of free Heinz 5 beans, I'm going to get a couple each time I'm in.

Popping out later to Asda and Sainsbury's - wish me luck.

  • thanks for the encouragement, i like lists so later when i cook tea i am going to make a list of everything i have in the cupboards. i never thought of doing that so that is a great idea. i want to have a plan of foods for the week so i am not getting things 'here and there' as i think i will spend more money that way.

onwards and upwards. trying not to go to the supermarket for the next 2 weeks as we have tickets for the paralympics and we have to buy train tickets to get there yet. will take some food with us but cant take drinks in, hope they have water fountains.

Afternoon everyone how are we? (((hugs))) for those who need them.

I've been having a good few days. Been using things from the freezer and cupboard and even got freebies :)

I had a £1 off coupon in the tesco toddler magazine for the new range of Palmolive shower gels. Turns out they were on offer for 99p in store so I got it for free. Fab!

Today I filled a black bag full of baby clothes for my neighbour who collects for charity and in return I got these

In non food news I got 75 prints for £2.74 from snappish (1p a print and p&p code is 1print75 but ends tomorrow) and using a 25% off code I got puzzles and a leapfrog toy for Thomas. It only cost £5.99 after the discount with free delivery so that's 2 Christmas presents sorted.

Dinner tonight is shepherds pie using ys mince from the freezer, the last of the potatoes I have lurking about, veg (including the beans in the above picture) then apple pie for dessert. Would be rude not to eat those delicious goodies... :D

Lucky you with all those yummy things Sequeena :D

Today we have just had a quick dinner so 2 kievs, some chips and a tin of spaghetti OUT, nothing in. We might have had McDonald's for lunch :o So un-MSE it is untrue but was nice for a treat :D

Back to work tomorrow, OH is out tomorrow night so I may just have spaghetti on toast or something for dinner. No huge dents being made in the freezer really. Will get some sausage rolls out for OH for his lunch plus the fridge items.

  • Edwardia - thank you, I ended up going to bed at 8pm but woke up feeling much better and have come home with a nice clear head today :)

    Soworried - fab bargains :D

Used up the usual today - bread/tuna/porridge etc

OH came home from work and made us tea - he googled some ingredients we had in and made 'cheesey scalloped potatoes' which used up some onions, flour, cheese, potatoes etc - it was lovely! Going to nip to Morrisons in a bit for some lychees and hopefully a couple of YS bits if there is anything good :)
