Lynsey - it was a really good day! But don't wanna feel like that again for a while!!

I've cooked my pizza and half was my lunch/dinner and the other half is tomorrows lunch.

Also lifted out some carrot and corriander soup to have over the next couple of days.

Massive food shop will take place here next week!! My fridge is bare and the freezer is too!!
    Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
    Debt payments 2012 £433.27

Just worked out how much our shopping would have been full price. Total that we spent including offers and coupons = £24.22
    Total full price = £57.53

    :j
  • Just done my end of the month finances and they are not too great, so i will have to make sure that I only go shopping for stuff I need and try to use up stuff.

Had the last of my five bean chilli for tea on a jacket potato -
DD had packet of pasta n sauce with some meatballs. I made a butterscotch sponge for afters but didn't have any because the chilli is really filling. Dd had some though and she said that it was nice.

I feel really fed up today because DD1 is spending loads of money on clothes and general rubbish and I am really struggling - She doesn't pay any keep and there is always a HUGE row when I mention it so I tend to just keep the peace. She also does nothing in the house and makes the most tremendous mess - I get so fed up about it and today I have felt really really down about the state of the house.

Anyway best get on - i am supposed to be going to the local pub quiz with my friends tonight....

ammonite - the black pudding didn't look great but tasted amaazing.

Lynsey - I don't go out of my way to seek out boot fairs, but yes I do pick up books & plants and I've gotten brand new photograph frames and albums .. oh and lots of china. The kitchen is black white and grey and I have separate Mediterranean style china for eating in the garden and more than 50% has come from charity shops and boot fairs. I once got a whole dresserful of white china for £10 in a secondhand shop.:D

Jane - sounds like a right one there, she may be your beloved daughter but she has to learn mum doesn't equal pushover :( My parents made me pay keep when I lived at home even though they could well afford not to. It was our house our rules, you don't live here without contributing.

smoosh - well done on your bargains :T

OH lost his debit card and that's a definite moneysaver over a Bank Holiday weekend ;)

    heating Lynsey really?! wow!

Definitely really, it seemed to go cold this afternoon so I popped the heating on for an hour or so. Strangely it seems warmer now and perhaps it was just me.

bramble1 - at least you got some "gain" for your "pain" by having a good day.

Edwardia - same colour scheme as my kitchen.

Jane - have a great evening, win that quiz and cheer yourself up. We never ever received "board" from our Son and it's only now, this year when he's actually starting to earn a living. We have only just stopped sending him "pocket money" since we started paying the loan payments for his car!! His job ends this week and hopefully something will come along quickly, but he has at last made the break-through, or so it seems (fingers crossed). Living at home is a different matter and you need a contribution. We helped our Son when he was away at Uni and when he moved to London and struggled.
He has been told that he's had all our pension plan money and needs to support us in our "old age". :D
We'll still be "whoopsy" shopping in our late 60's!!

Smoosh - well done with your savings.

Pie and mash (I think for tomorrow) and need to clear some freezer space.
Tried out my frozen onions tonight and don't like then at all, not for stir fry's anyway - I'll not be doing that again (freezing onions).

    Hi all

Just a quickie to catch up with everyone. Freezer lists done and now meal planned for this week. Used up the following over the weekend:

    6 link sausages
    2 lorne sausages
    4 rashers of bacon
    2 chicken kiev
    1 crispy chicken in batter
    peas
    chips
and have taken out some mince to make a shepherds pie tomorrow although will hopefully make enoiugh for three meals so two will go back in.

Had sunday dinner at my parents yesterday as brother and his family up from England which was really nice. Down side was we had fish and chips from the chippie tonight as cat has been very poorly and was at the vets and was touch a go whether we would get him back tonight (if ever). I couldn't even think about food for us as it came as a bit of a shock. He is home now whilst they are wating on results of some more tests they have done but he is definately not himself :(
  • Been a very quiet bank holiday for me, had 2 rolls and some of the roast chicken for lunch, at 5pm, i decided to had m&m's and a Brothers Strawberry Cider, lol, after that i had a 3 hours nap! i had the whole bottle, lol didnt expect that to happen, feeling really lazy now, so i had 2 more rolls and more chicken for dinner, Iv'e had no fruit or veg today, i like to have some everyday, ah well.

I am thinking of buying a food processor, half price in argos, it has a blender, chpper and juicer, will buy it this week, will make it so much easier to juice the fruit rather than blend it all, hpefully, if not i still have the option f the blender, i have a blender but the top broke, so i use a plate on top, i got it from my grandma, had it about 5 years now, i think its time, its knackered, lol.

Was supposed to go and get some fruit today, but i had the unplanned nap instead, will go tomorrow.

Morning all - clear skies and the sun is out, but Autumn has arrived it seems - nice Autumn'ish day though.

Toast for myself, hubby is having the last of the mushrooms with a fried egg.
I've decided on scrambled eggs for main meal and hubby is having pie and mash.

I need to write a small list for the week and see what if any I can get reduced.

    Be good. :D

Morning, we have some sun at last here. :j
Recovering spendaholic, have you sat down with your daughter to explain the budget to her and how tight things are? Teenagers tend to be selfish a little by nature but if they know the truth then she may pitch in a little more. Even if it is just help with the mess.
When I was first taken bad my kids did nothing to help. It wasn't until I sat them down and explained the effect that post traumatic stress disorder has that they now don't just chip in but will do things without asking. :j
Maybe she just needs to realise what you are going through. I hope you won your quiz. :T

It should be a no shopping day here. I haven't decided what to make for dinner yet. I had planned toad in the hole but it is too warm for that.

Breakfast was eggs, sauteed onions, black pudding and bacon because OH is off to do DIY. Currently, he's undercoating a window frame.

Lynsey - my first reaction to the heating would be:rotfl: BUT having experienced North Yorkshire in March and Scotland in August I have to say weather Up North is radically different and not in a good way so sympathy instead.

Soworried ((((Soworried)))) my OH has PTSD too so I feel for you.

galerivers - welcome hope you find lots of bargains !

Maisie M - sorry to hear your cat is poorly ((Maisie M))
