I don't do cold Edwardia. lol
Before we got our more efficient boiler, we used to leave the heating on 24/7 over the winter (dropping it down during the night) and our bills were virtually the same - suppose we weren't heating from scratch every day.
We have a much better boiler now which heats the house in minutes, so leaving it on 24/7 is not required. Also, we have vastly improved the insulation (free in parts).
Even now with increases, we still only pay around £900 per annum for heating, cooking etc.
No need to shop for my Brother today, so trying for a NSD.
Maisie M - best wishes to your cat.
Soworried - I could do "toad in the hole" this week and that would get rid of some eggs and have with mash to get rid of more potatoes.
I gave my Brother a couple of tins of Heinz 5 beans to try and also donated a pack of the choritzo sausages - that's 25p of my budget wasted. lol
I'm far too soft.

Thanks for all your kind words re: DD1 - she starts university in three weeks and will be living in halls so she may up her game once she has to do stuff for herself!
Maisie M - so sorry to hear about your cat - really hope that he pulls through.
((Soworried)) - PTSD must be so difficult for you.
I went to the shops this morning and went to Sainsburys and Farmfoods. I got milk and some chicken breast fillets, plus some baby spinach in Sainsburys and then in farmfoods I got quite a haul and it was really reasonable. I got 3 for £2 cauliflower, peas and green beans, plus oven chips, Linda McCartney sausages, Ben and Jerry's ice cream (£1.50 a tub!!!!!), Thorntons Magnum style lollies, butter (2 for £2) and philadelphia light 300g tubs at 2 for £1!!! I couldn't believe it! The date on the philly was 29th September - does anyone know if you can freeze it because if you can I will go and get a load more tomorrow! We use loads of philly light. I also got the BOGOF mushrooms and some sweetcorn, tinned pineapple in juice (giant tins) and some Birds Eye vegetable fingers. I was well impressed!!
Lunch was 2 linda McCartney sausages and some Tesco curried beans - Won't be having those again as they weren't nice - two tins for my sister's Christmas hamper I think!! and for afters I had a Thornton's lolly (yum)
Dinner is chicken breast fillets for daughter (younger daughter is on holiday with her Dad), and I will have carrot and cheddar soup, plus a salad sandwich.
I found a packet of veggie sausagemeat filling in the back of the cupboard the other day and think I might make some vegetarian scotch eggs - don't know what they will be like though - I think I will make up the sausagemeat and smell it before deciding whether or not to use it as if it's garlicky I won't like it.
Finished my work for today so off to watch two episodes of Criminal minds on tape before DD comes in from work!Jane

We left our heating on 24/7 not last winter but the one before and I nearly fell through the floor with the gas bill for the quarter. Last year we wrapped up more and had a much milder winter. This year I'm hoping its not too cold as we'll have to keep the house warm for the little one and could do without the extra expense.
It started off as a nice summer day today, by the time we got to the park it was still warm but the sun had gone in. need to get in my PJs now to warm upI'm glad of the break in the humid weather though it was just a pleasantly warm day today...almost like the start of summer rather than the end lol
Edwardia - That black pudding is sounding better each time you mention it. I'll have to find it on a menu somewhere, not up for cooking it with the smell at the moment but could quite happily eat it
OUT: 2 pieces of cake, all the birthday cake has now gone. One tub of soup and some croutons OUT. Had a late lunch out so not much else needed out of the freezer or cupboards today. Ate the bacon I got out yesterday too.
IN: Nothing
Hope you all having a nice day0 -
Good afternoon everyone
Still quite bright here but came home from placement with a banging headache so hoping the paraceetamol will kick in soon! Already got tea prepped because I just wanted to chill out - super easy macaroni cheese, Quorn nuggets & asparagus ... random also but oh well!0 -
Lynsey - Me neither, can't imagine why I lived in Canada
Our heating probably won't go on until October and goes off in April or May. Has to be really cold before we have heating on at night. Hate that stuffed up nose/dry throat feeling.
Last two years it's been nippy here with a lot of frost and some snow but before that mostly rain, not much snow at all thankfully. As long as it's not humid in Summer I don't care how hot it gets
ammonite - you might want to slap a bit of brown sauce on cos it's not the most appetising colour in the world but it tastes soo good. Total convert to Black pudding now
miss emmajane hope your headache has gone now !
Nothing in/out freezer so far.
OH has rubbed down and undercoated the window frame and skirting boards. He moved the CCTV DVR and discovered that inside the monk's bench it was sitting on were a pair of almost new Nike running shoes and Lacoste sneakers of mine plus a pair of vintage gold stilettoes I used to wear nightclubbing, my SLR camera, several jute bags and my old desert cam jacketVery well travelled jacket that..
Painting tomorrow :T
Dinner is org lamb with marrow Provencale.

Edwardia - It is basically illegal to eat black pudding without brown sauce, I'm sure there is a law against is somewhere :rotfl::D0

Morning all, pretty grey day ................... not quite "50 shades of grey", but close!!
NSD yesterday - 2 in a row.
Breakfast - toasted tea-cakes.
Main meal - gammon steaks, pineapple, fried egg, peas and sweetcorn.
Need to shop today and going to see if the 10kg bags of onions are still £1.50 - they are not brilliant and some iffy ones - but cheap.
No bacon left, so looking for a bacon offer or reduced stuff.
Low on bread so might hit Asda tonight and get a weeks supply, or I could bake some.
Tomorrow I'm doing toad-in-the hole (which reminds me Florenceem hasn't returned). I'll make some scones (possibly cheese) also.
