  • Evening all.

For anybody wanting to know about the weekly spend challenge its right here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4132285

Did well in the nsd stakes today, mainly because i did not go out! lol

Had a tub of blueberries for breakie £1 for mr s basics, good value, i had a magnum and 2 cheese baguettes for lunch, for dinner i had the pork i cut up and marinaded in reggae reggae sauce, chopped up pineapple and onions, put some on the george foreman and opened a baguette, yummy and only 2 packs of baguettes left, no room in the freezer, cream was going off today, so decided to freeze. deffo no room, i forced the freezer closed lol.

Will think what i can take out for tomorrows dinner, im thinking of taking out the 3 person pasta meal, it will free up some space, so at least when i take something that can be made from scratch out, i may have a chance of freezing it.

one baguette left and loads of pork, just needs putting on the george foreman since it has already been seasoned.

Sequeena - I am so sorry for your loss, I am praying for you xx

We had Nan's funeral today - I will hopefully be back posting more soon - I hope all are well x
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

  • katskorner - my thoughts are with you, hope the day was a lovely one for your Nan xx

I failed at not going to shopping as I had wrote in my post earlier today! On the way to drop off some leftover lasagne at my parents house I nipped into Morrisons around 7.30pm to see if they had any good reductions (only just started going in there and realised they have much cheaper/better reductions than the Tesco I was going to). Glad I did! I found lychees which weren't reduced but are my favourite fruit, and hard to find - £1 for a tub and they were gorgeous. Also got 4x 15p packs of Walls 6 thick sausages and two packs of 9p 6 white bakery buns. 78p for 24 sausages, and 12 white buns :) I won't touch the sausages but my OH will enjoy them so he divided them up into 3s and they are now sat in our freezer.

Don't know why but it seems reduced items aren't as popular in my town - at the Tesco in the next town they would be snapped up in seconds and were never as cheap as 15p!

katskorner - nice to see you posting, take care.

miss_emmajane - good bargains there. I like Wall's sausages, but hubby mainly prefers the better quality sausages. I can't get Tesco right at all!!!

    Went to Asda and bought:

    2 x packs of mixed peanuts reduced to 40p each = 80p
    2 x crumble mixes @ 30p each = 60p
    4 carrots = 28p
    Reduced swede portion = 20p
    Total = £1.88

Then on to Sainsbury's tonight and had a great couponing shop, thanks to the Heinz 5 bean coupon:

    5 tins of Heinz 5 beans @ 50p (offer) = £2.50
    Bag Murray Mints (half-price) = 79p
    Bag Fruit Pastilles (half-price) = 67p
    Granola yoghurt (reduced from £1) = 15p
    2.5kg King Edward's (reduced from £2) = 64p
    Sub-total = £4.75
Used 5 x Heinz coupons which scan at 85p each (£4.25)
    Total paid 50p. lol
Loads for 50p and love days like that.

    Days spends = £2.38

Please don't miss the Heinz coupon (big date on) and Sainsbury's 50p offer ends tomorrow.

Tomorrow's meals will be gammon steaks with something.
    Maybe boiled eggs for breakfast??

Morning to what looks like a nice "Autumn" morning here.
Hoping for an "Indian Summer" - fingers crossed.

ms_night_ryder - thanks for the Groupon update, looks like I lost my last credit. Worked for myself less than 2 weeks ago. Plenty of restaurant vouchers to use and waiting for delivery of an order. RIP
Heinz - try it again, just register with another email address and re-do the quiz.
I don't think the coupon saves properly, I had issues and just printed off what I hope to use. Off to Sainsbury's later to see if they have any stock left. This is very similar to the Campbell's soup "glitch". Sadly the 5op per tin offer ends today and hoping another supermarket gives a similar offer.

Took out some bread for toast and also some tea-cakes (they were very dry) and I'll probably treat the birds today.

Originally I was planning for a NSD, but need Cravendale and hoping for beans - possibly 2 trips to Sainsbury's.

kastkorner - hope your nan's funeral went as well as it could have for you all.

    OUT: Crumpets, Bolognaise x 2

Tonight we will have bolognaise with some of the spaghetti that needs to be used up.

Lunch will be sardines on pitta as I have no bread left and only one pitta.

I really wasn't going shopping but I'm going to have to go for lunch items and fruit. I have a £7.50 off £50 for Mr S's so am going with my Mum and we'll split the bill.

Also need other weekly staples like the crumpets, bread, milk etc. as we are very low.

Lynsey's talk of teacakes makes me want to buy some :o:D
  • Sequeena - sorry to hear your news, take care.
Did quite well yesterday, we had a chicken out of the freezer which I cooked in our little rottiserie oven, which we had with roasted shallots, sweetcorn and brocolli. DH has had leftover chicken and salad for lunch and there's enough for him for tomorrow as well.
I went to MrS yesterday as I missed the market as we were at friends on Sat so needed fruit and veg, and that's what I bought:Tnothing extra went in the freezer (not that I can fit anything else in there).
I've taken some steak out which we'll have for dinner with sweet potato wedges. Lunch out with MIL again.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

(((katskorner))) as you're probably feeling sad today.

Had myself a fry up for breakfast.. eggs, bacon and mushrooms fried in beef dripping. Laverstoke Park Farm organic nitrate free unsmoked back bacon from Ocado..this should be the creme de la creme of bacon cos the fields are organic, the piggies get to run around all day munching organic feed and grass, they get slaughtered in the farm's abattoir so no travel stress and the bacon is hand cured without nitrates. Should be fantastic, right ?

Rashers were half the size of the Duchy Originals (Waitrose) and Sainsbury's So organic rashers. Not too salty, but on the other hand, really bland. I don't know whether nitrates keep bacon pink but this bacon went a really unappetising grey. If you see this bacon don't buy it even if YS. The Sainsbury's and Waitrose stuff much much better and both 1p cheaper.

On the plus side the organic mushrooms from ASDA were only 86p and not bad.

    NSD for me.

Popped into Sainsbury's to get some Cravendale and Heinz beans and Cravendale out this morning (OOS last night).
Beans still at 50p per tin, but ends today .................. sadly.

    Bought:
    4 x Cravendale @ £1 each
    2 x Heinz 5 beans @ 50p each
    Sub total = £5
Used 4 x 50p Cravendale coupons and 2 x 85p Heinz coupons which took off £3.70 - total spend = £1.30 - not as good as the 50p shop yesterday though.
Used the s/scan till in 2 transactions - all scan perfectly.
Hoping to get some more beans later and possibly 2 more Cravendale. I'll check for any "whoopsies" late on.

I'm not hungry today, so just snacking.
Keep gammon steaks for another day.
    We might share a pizza??
God, I'm so bad at meal planning!!!!
