Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.
On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.
Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:
Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week
This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Thanks for the thread pp.
Pleased to report another nsd here today. I have actually spent £10.50 taking my kids to the cinema, but it was my OH's money which he gave to me to make up for his thoughtless behaviour at his stag do, and to give him some peace and quiet to sleep off the hangover. ResultNinja Saving Turtle0 -

No, it is throwing it down. Yesterday was glorious though and we spent it having fun outsideAs a result I'm not leaving the house.
Me and the children are off out for the day tomorrow to meet friends in a near by city, planning for a low spend day and none of it from this budget.
Enjoy yourselves everyoneFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Thanks for starting the thread PP
Was horrendously red last week, .
This week I am pledging zero as I'm off to Reading festival and have been saving £2 coins specifically to spend there0 -
Hi all, pledginh £50 for this week, last week ended up very in the red
Thanks0 -
Right well somehow I have managed to spend £30 in 2 days. £15 on groceries this morning, £13.00 and shrapnel on lunch and whatever is left was spent in tescos yesterday on unneeded items. So £20 left and out for tea tomorrow, thinking cheapest item on menu and only one drink.
I was feeling chuffed with how much was left in my account with 10 days to payday, not feeling so smug now.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -

Hi everyone.
Spent £12.96 on new folder for all my financial records and a new bin (much needed), some glue (!) as am making a creative financial board, and a note book to record expenses.
Am stapling receipts in as I go... I figure if am recording stuff in there and on here, am less likely to just blow stuff... Also re-incorporating the envelope system, where you fill envelopes for different categories each week.
Woooot. £2.04 left until Saturday!!! Luckily I have food and fuel so it's all good. Am still in the green!⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐
