I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Edwardia - i have the Ocado delivery pass but haven't had to pay for one yet as i got the original one on the free offer and then once I had cancelled it they offered me another 6 months free! i actually prefer to shop on ocado than in Waitrose as I like the Ocado own brand stuff (not that I don't go round Waitrose when i am flush!)
i decided to do some baking and made a jam crumble shortbread traybake - it's basically a soft shortbread base, topped with jam (used a whole jar of the Asda ES pomegranate and blueberry stuff from when they had all the bargains) and topped with oaty crumble. It's in the oven now.
i am sufferening with mad hot flushes at the moment - my hair is constantly wet and i can't keep make up on for more than a few minutes - probably should have baked a menopause cake - there is one!!
It's 4 o'clock and younger daughter (13) is still asleep!! I have tried several times to get her up but she is still comatose!!Jane

Edwardia- its a race between the baby and Santa :rotfl:
Jane- that crumble sounds lovely
Managed to finish a bag of wedges so even more room in the freezer:T
Might have bacon sarnies as a treat tomorrow80p from mr t's
I also liberated a stray calippo lolly from the freezer too. All forthe good of the freezer of course0 -
ammonite - you totally have to get baby fossil a Santa hat and a furry Rudolph when s/he arrives.:D
Jane - the shortbread sounds lovely but if I ate all that sugar I'd be flat on the floorWhen I were thirteen I was indulging in underage drinking in France
Maybe comatose is less worrying !
ms_night_ryder the smoothie sounds fantastic ! :T I can eat watermelon and strawberries, am wondering about subbing pears for peaches..0 -
Not bought any food all week I don't think!
Scotch pie for dins tonight, with my last tin of beans!!
Going to lift a quorn marsala out the freezer for lunch/dins tomorrow, going to be a heavy one so need to line my stomach!!) will cook up some rice, and also create a prawn curry which i can portion and freeze too for dins.
I really think I can make it till the 31st without buying any food. I am going to do it!!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Hubby liberated a snickers ice cream too. Off to investigate if I can make it to payday without shopping. Could be tough but I'll give it a go0

I was just lucky ammonite and spotted the lamb leg steaks in Waitrose and they are really good. I haven't had a lot of luck though, it's much harder to find YS organic stuff. Most people don't buy organic stuff but as soon as it's reduced people snap it up.
I find the opposite Edwardia. In our local Sainsbugs any organic markdowns are given a wide berth. I often get milk, cheese or eggs that are still there after everything else has gone. When the do the markdowns off the fruit and veg, people will nearly always take the ordinary things and ignore the organic. More for me:TI was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Update: with the exception of fruit, yoghurt, lettuce & milk I can make it to next Friday without shopping. We will run out of traditional lunch meat but will cook some sausages (that I didn't know we had) to help out.
Not too bad I suppose!0 -
Toast and coffee for me this morning (don't have to worry about limiting my caffeine intake anymore
) and 1/4 of a slice of toast and a whole milk bottle for T. He'll eat anything.... Just not a lot of it.
Dinner with a friend. My turn to pay this month. T ate what I had. Not had my dinner yet but T just wants milk so hoping bedtime is on the horizon for him.
Been to morrisons tonight.
2x croissants - 29p
French baguette - 19p
3x apple and custard lattices - 19p
Lots reduced but mostly tomorrows date so not reduced enough. Saw some chickpea pate for 9p which I fancied but didn't say if I could free it or not so left it. If it doesn't say can I assume it's ok to freeze?
The weather has been awful in Wales. I've been out in the rain almost all day and it was like a sheet. I was soaked in seconds. The changing bag is soaked through too so I need to sort through that
I am exhausted and can't wait for my bed.
All in all just under £10 spend (had to get butter, cheese, bananas and some beer for OH).Wife and mother :jGrocery budget
April week 1 - £42.78 | week 2 - £53.0524lbs in 12 weeks 15/240 -
Ammonite and Bramble - I am going to join you in the effort to get to the end of the month without buying food (other than milk and bread).
The crumble shortbread thingie was lovely but it made an awful lot so I have frozen some and put some in the tin.
I bought some of the currently half price pork sausages in Tescos and they were really nice. You get 12 in a pack (600odd grams) for £2.19 and they are really meaty and nice. I made the mistake of cooking all twelve earlier on so we could microwave them in the morning for breakfast and there are now only 2 left:o. I have to say that at about 10 oclock I went into the kitchen and had two on a buttie (yum!) and DD2 had her friend here and they then had sausage butties and then DD1, not to be left out, had one too!! Shouldn't have cooked them!
There is leftover pasta meatballs left in fridge for DD1 to take for packed lunch tomorrow, and I am going to make hm bbq chicken for tea. I will try and just have a slim fast or something for lunch.
DD1 is off to University next month so I am hoping that my food bills will go down then as she can eat enough to sink a ship! She is going into catered halls so that will be a big shock for her as she is the fussiest eater I know - maybe that will change her!
Hope you are having better weather than us - it is 1am here and it is still hot and intermittently pouring down with rain - weird!Jane
